This story is all over the news. Just about everyone on FB is posting about Harambe the gorilla and his "murder". I didn't hear about this till later in the weekend. The details still seem a bit fuzzy. So far Ive managed to ascertain that a little boy got away from his mother, got under a rail and fell off a cliff into the gorilla enclosure. The gorilla pulled the boy through the water and fearing for the childs life zoo workers put the gorilla down. Clue me in if I missed something.

So I popped in on FB and see all these memes about this "murdered" gorilla. People are outraged that the animal was killed. They blame the mother and say it was her fault and want her charged. There is a petition on Change.org signed by 100,000 people called "Justice for Harambe". Now I admit I was raised old fashioned compared to how people think today but I cannot get my mind around this. First off if you have children you know how fast they move. Take eyes off them for a moment and they're gone. I read that the mother had several children in her care. Secondly, this was an animal, not a person. You kill an animal, you murder a person. The childs life was in danger, that was the call that the zoo keepers made. So,ok, sad that a gorilla died. But people are mourning this like it was a human being. Seriously?!

We have a petition for a blasted gorilla and no one has said anything about the girl that was strangled in a Chicago bathroom by a man. I dont see anyone outraged. I didn't see it all over FB. Barely saw it on the news. No one is talking about it around the cooler at work. Why not? Is an animal more important than a child?! There is silence because transgender is a PC issue. The danger of men faking transgender and harming women and children doesn't count because its more important that a transgender isn't embarrassed when going to the restroom. Am I the only one who sees this as insanity?! That a gorilla is more important than the safety of a child. That being PC is more important than the safety of women and children. They have no problem with abortion, but dont "murder" a gorilla. Unbelievable what this country has come to. Ive been holding this in but when I saw all the "poor innocent gorilla" memes on FB today I lost it. I think I was born in the wrong generation. smh I dont understand it.
The mother should have been euthanized, thus Darwinism would have been better served.

We have become really degenerated as a society, as a people, as a so-called God fearing nation, when we put the lives of animals over that of human beings. how much we try to be on top of things and attentive to our kids, every one of us experiences accident(s), some of us are just lucky that none of our mistakes have resulted in a national-newsworthy tragic event.

There are so many ways this situation at the Cincinnati Zoo could have been any of us watching in horror after an accident like this. Rather than responding with kindness or sympathy with an awareness that we’ve all had close calls or accidents, many people were lashing out with critical comments calling the parent(s) names.

SMH... so many nasty comments from people who were NOT there even after an eyewitness account. There are so many terrible things going on in our country with not so much as a word about it and people are up in arms over a gorilla. For those who don't have children keep living and maybe one day you will understand how quickly a child can take off and how situations can occur.

Well this story has more turns than a traffic rotary! First people were tweeting about white privilege and how a poor gorilla was shot to save a white kid. Well the parents are "gasp" black. So now the story is this...

Parents of boy who fell into Harambe the gorilla's Cincinnati Zoo enclosure pictured | Daily Mail Online

The dad has a criminal past. How that figures in to the story I dont know. Got to love libs. They turn on a dime. smh Cant believe the stupidity of it all.
I'm one of the peeps who are ticked off at the gorilla being killed, but I'm completely with you sister that the parents' criminal background has nothing to do with what took place at the zoo. Just goes to show, when it comes to libtards, Black oppression trumps White oppression, but animal oppression trumps Black oppression. And for the record, gay oppression trumps everything. Funny how that works.

4 years old is not a baby...the whole thing is a tragedy for the silverback...

I'm thinking the kid just doesn't listen too well and that it might have been handled better

These gorillas, in spite of their enormous size & strength, are not mean spirited

I guess that better fencing will be provided although the zoo stated that nothing has happened in 36 years...

things can change in a instant
a 4 YEAR OLD is a baby and the idea that this ape has any value that relates to this child shows how evil and twisted the minds of many people have become through the PC nonsense that has spread like a cancer. A gorilla is a wild animal ..just a animal

The whole idea that there is ANY question about taking that animals life to save that little boy ..proves how wicked people have become. I would like to see everyone that says that ape should not have been killed, thrown into a cage with one and left to fend for themselves.

I feel bad for the gorilla and all, I mean yeah I am a serious animal lover too. I have animals and I love them with all my heart. But Id like to see this gorilla take one of the babies of the people who are condemning the zoo and the parents of this child, and hand them a gun and give them the choice to save their baby or spare a gorillas life.

I mean yeah its sad when we have to kill a gorilla. But you know whats worse? Watching an animal kill your baby while the people around you do nothing to help. I agree with the posts about people using this event as a reason to make themselves relevant and deep and important world changing heroes.

it is sad that a gorilla who was minding his own business had to die...it is especially sad if it was avoidable...

but it would have been -infinitely- more sad if the child had died...a human life is worth more than an animal's life...

the zookeepers did the right thing...had they hesitated we might very well be reading headlines that say 'gorilla kills child' instead...

Yes I saw it too. Absolutely nuts those reactions and that they want the mother sued??? I hadn't read that. Insane. Peculiar type of people on Facebook. And with that guy who threw himself before the lions. Oooh those poor lions! They should have killed him. Completely insane. And the girl who said that proudly said she was a vegetarian. I thought: I'm not gonna comment here, but what about all those poor sweet cows they feed them everyday? This guy saved some cows. You're not interested in him anyway. Hypocrisy and insanity indeed.
Now they're upset by a lego toy thing that was destroyed by a toddler. Sigh. That's not even insanity, that's just stupidity. Oh and those bad parents!! blablabla they're just kids themselves upset by a broken toy.

to be fair about this particular incident...the artist who made the lego sculpture has taken an 'accidents happen' attitude and declined to accept any money from the child's parents who were very apologetic and embarassed...

Yes and still people on Facebook are mad at the parents.
I read that that gorilla wanted to save the kid. Could be true, then it would be really sad, but I understand that the zoo keepers don't think: oh this cuty is gonna take care of the kid. Wouldn't have surprised me though. We'll never know.

Ok, the Lego thing is kinda funny. That would totally be my luck. But seriously, what did they expect a kid to do?

The zoo keepers called the Apes in with treats. All of them came except the male who had his treat with him in the exhibit.

I agree what ever happened to holding a child's hand when around something that could be a danger like near a fence to a giant silver back. If I had a child 4 years old, and we're spending a day at the zoo and close to any fence to a wild animal yea no doubt I would be holding on to the child's hand.
4 years old? My kids were too lazy to walk in the zoo then. They Always sat in a buggy. I sometimes pitied those parents with those kids that would go all over the place. A couple in church just put their son on a leash, so they could have some rest.

I heard that the woman watching the child was there alone with a whole buncha kids, and he broke away. Apparently they killed the gorilla because they didn't want to tranq it, because that would've taken too long and they wanted to get the kid out..

Were the kids' parents even there? That woman should have had more chaperones to help her watch the kids. Had she done that, this would probably NOT have happened. There wouldn't be an injured kid, nor a dead gorilla. :/ jmo

Sounds like a single mom with a bunch of kids. I only invite one kid at a time that is very well raised if I go out with 4. Otherwise no way. But to the zoo and things like that I only go with 3. They follow me like 3 ducklings. And that age I'd just have them in a double buggy. Lol someone once called: you miss one hand! I had 2 in a double buggy and 1 in a kid's bike that I could hold. That's just undoable if you have so many and they go all over the place.
