OK, to follow up on my last post, Sirk ...

You've been a friend from day one that I came on this board, and we've shared a few behind the scenes exchanges that have been enjoyable and built camaraderie. Trump doesn't really "stir me up," but the rush to embrace him certainly has.

I truly mean it when I say that his showmanship is a dangerous thing, and while you have a valid point that conservatives need to wake up, a true conservative mimicking his style is ill-advised at best. I also mean it when I say that he can't be trusted as a conservative. He obviously hasn't been most of his adult life, and this "sudden conversion" is suspect at best.

It does pain me that people I like and respect are being, as I consider it (with apologies if I'm wrong), deceived by his showmanship. We have, as conservatives, been vocal about mindless liberals' nine-second soundbites and 30-second Madison Avenue slick spots and the negative impact they have on campaigning. And now we're going to embrace the very same thing in Trump? That just doesn't make sense to me.

Putting it all aside, we need to end this feud and get back to where we were. My being irked at seeing what I interpret as you fawning all over Trump ... ? I guess I need to get over it. But I need to be less aggressive in addressing you and others regarding support, or whatever it is you are giving the guy.

I truly hope and pray the guy self-implodes or is deflated by other candidates. In my opinion, he would be a millstone around the neck of the GOP. His style is abrasive, it puts off the independents and moderate Democrats who might be tempted to vote Republican next year, and there are so many candidates more qualified than Donald Trump to carry the party banner.

But we can't let our friendships, cyber or otherwise, be destroyed by our disagreement over who he is and his impact on the nomination process.

I apologize for having offended you. I apologize to everyone else I offended. I haven't changed my mind, but I can tone down the nonsense.

Your turn, brother ...
I'm not sure that I am as capable as your response here... but the truth is that I have been sad because I felt misinterpreted and misunderstood by you. I've not made a stand as to whether or not Trump is pure in heart.... because I just can't know his heart. However, the only point I am trying make is that a man or women that endeavors to win the white house needs to be intelligent and use the means at their disposal to get their message out...which currently consists of the alphabet networks. They have to determine their brand.... and then market it intelligently to the masses. Sadly, it's not a lot different than brand x having a better commercial than brand y.....with that said...I love you and I am truly sorry if I have caused you pain.

I could vote for Carson...if it was between him and trump I would I think. But if its carson against the establishment and they take trump out...I think they will beat him up like they always do...so I think trump needs to be in the race until the they have to take anybody but trump.
Even though I've been a supporter of his for long before the time he announced in May, I thought the same thing. "Oh, this is the ideal candidate, but they're gonna kill him on the campaign trail."

Hasn't happened. He will, I believe, beat the Democrats with a new game plan -- taking the message over the heads of the media right to the people. He quietly went to Al Sharpton's group to speak a few weeks ago. Megyn Kelly asked him the provocative question, "Why risk your reputation" speaking to such a group?

The truth is, though, they ate it up! Gave him a standing ovation. He has the capability to talk past the media right to the people, and they hear him, believe him, accept him. He doesn't have the answers Sharpton's people want, but he has answers that work, and they were more or less forced to admit it is something they should consider.

I think he just might be the guy that can win the whole country, truly be a uniter, and put the Obama (and yeah, to an extent, the Bush) years behind us.

I just used the asterisk cause I thought the period was too small to be noticeable. Also a little smart alleckry in regards to the comment on morse code being futile and absurd. Guess not so futile after all seeing as you two be reconciled over my little joke. Praise Jesus, it is good for friends to be reconciled.

i like carson but i didn't think he could ever survive a campaign let alone win...i am still very skeptical about that...

but on the other hand maybe this campaign needs an 'anti trump' to win...trump is crass and arrogant and immature...carson is calm and humble and thoughtful...

I gotta hand it to Rachel. She has definitely held her own here. Most women are too worried about their nails and hair to care about politics. Lol

Edit......I forgot to duck after I posted this. Lol

You know, GiS, I've been dismissive of some of your posts, too, on other subjects, and that's not fair. You're as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, so I need to "Knock it off."

Yes, your Morse Code message got my attention, and hauled me up short. I'm going to promise you that, no matter how much your posts irk me at time (and you and I both know they will), I will never, ever again forget that you are brother in Christ, nor that you were the catalyst for healing the relationship between Sirk and I.

I am grateful for that, and I am the first to admit I am way too adamant about my viewpoint and thinking everyone ought to see it my way -- or at least I should be the first, but I haven't been. Forgive me for anything I've said that has hurt you, and don't be afraid to haul me up short again when you see the need. God bless you, brother, and be well in Him.

Carson is so amateur though and it shows in his vague answers to what are fairly simple questions. Anti-Trump yea in that he seems scripted. It bemuses me a bit how people were rightly questioning Obama for being inexperienced, and yet Carson is to get a free pass? Nay not in US politics. Sorry, but I don't want to have another Obama repeat. America simply cannot risk that again. Want someone with some experience this time around. That's a big argument against Trump as well.

Don't let Trump trouble ya'll though, for I have discovered the Trump Card against Trump, but for sooth it is too early to reveal that one, and indeed I think for now Trump's prevalence is a good learning lesson for both the GOP and the politicos as a whole.

Nobody is that brave ...

In insist on armed guards and a real honest-to-God HMMVV when I go for my doctoral dissertation consultations.

Nah, not really ... my F-150 in four-wheel mode is sufficient. Have to go on rainy days, though ...

(Waiting to see if anyone gets that one ... )

No problems the same as you have said to me let it be said to and done for you. I enjoy you being my political foil and I yours. I know when you're just being flavorful with your tongue as I enjoy being with mine. As I once read, politics is a contact sport. Lol I suppose I am the Goku to your Vegeta.

The last time I was on a college campus (quite recently),
all the little boys and girls seemed quite preoccupied with how to best cure hangovers and hide cheap beer in the drop-ceiling.

I had no idea they had any energy left over for politics.
