I guess another way of thinking about it is like this...
I personally did not know about tithing for a season or so when I first got saved. Did God bless me though? Sure he did. But he blessed me in other ways according to the measure of obedience I had towards the things that I DID know pleased him. For example, I was set free from drugs and alcohol and was certainly blessed in mind, body, and soul because of it.
However after I learned about tithing and became obedient to it as well, I became blessed in other ways that were in the same measure.
So, we don't place these things as burdensome rules. Just like they said to just start with telling new Christians not to eat food sacrificed to idols to start out as to not overwhelm them with a bunch of rules.
Instead we grow and learn and introduce them as solutions to things that God has covered. That when we trust in the things that he has said, we will be blessed because of our obedience to him.
I personally do not keep the diet all of the time simply because it is so difficult in the culture that we live. I don't fall under condemnation when I fail. But with the increased amount of effort to try, I have witness being blessed in my health, energy, focus, etc... I give the credit for this to God for having revealed that he created things this way; not to the food or my understanding. Frankly, a lot of it does not make sense to me. But I just have to trust that he knows what he is talking about.
Anyways, I really only share this for those that may be struggling to figure out which of the millions of diets that man has created. I think God outlined the one that is good for everyone.
