I do not lower the scriptures to my standards. I raise my standards to that of the scriptures.

Make sense?

No,

Because what you preach, and what scripture say are not up to snuff.. Scripture has a much deeper understanding of what Sin is than you do..

Your so stuck on the deep sins, you cant see the small sins, Your so worried about committing adultry, you do not pay attention to the little things,, Well James said if we break even the least of the law (the smallest sin one can possibly commit) we are found guilty of the whole law

If you were rising your standard to scripture. You would not focus on adultry because you would know an adulterer is no more or no less guilty than any other sinner, They all have sinned and fall short of Gods glory. Which means you and I are just as guilty of them

Instead of being like Peter and judging sin, You would be like Jesus and the disciples and win people to Christ by not judging them, Then helping them grow.

this is exactly the point. they think that making a list of 5 things that the Word says to do, then doing them, and then making a list of 5 things not to do, and not doing them, they think this makes them perfect. self deceived they are............

Just like the pharisee, Act righteous, do not commit certain sins, and your ok..

Whereas in reality you are the pharisee saying we have "Abraham" as our father (in church context - saying we have "Jesus" as our saviour). Yet in your works you deny Him.

I was being a little tongue in cheek, this thread is funny in it's ridiculousness
I so wish people would stop responding to a certain persons threads,

While I agree, they may be funny and entertaining, they take up alot of space and keep us from more important things.

You would be seriously lacking in the whole council of God department. You are scripture "light".

Are you free to lie cheat steel? Have road rage, Take a night off when you do not feel like serving someone?

Why do you people always focus on the deep sins, and reject the little sins, Just like the pharisee did,, You clean the outside, while the inside is filthy.

Why do you not take them as your example and see how you are just like them.
"Are you free to lie cheat steel? Have road rage, Take a night off when you do not feel like serving someone?"

EG - the answer is no.

Now lying is sinful and wrong. I do not lie.
Cheat - I do not cheat.
Road rage - dangerous driving makes me angry for the harm it does, but I never
have road rage.
Serving someone or honouring commitments. I desire to honour all my commitments.

It seems like your approach is to not walk righteously even in the small things, and thereby
excuse the whole approach. This walk is not impossible, but to you it would appear so.

This is why talking through and confessing sins helps, because it puts into perspective nothing
is not conquerable in Christ.

You obviously intended your little examples to demonstrate how people fail, but rather it
demonstrates how people can see Christ love at work in everything they do.

And as I stated it would be helpful bringing things back to scripture.
Lying - we must speak the truth

A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.
Prov 26:28

all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
Rev 21:8

Cheating -
You shall not steal.
Exodus 20:15

Anger
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry
Eph 4:26

Commitments
Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
James 5:12

If we do not stick with our commitments we are not being honest.
It is fine to agree to change them, but they matter.

These are not small sins or minor issues, these are the fabric of morality and life.
It is why we need to talk about them and work through them. By not doing this
it is no surprise people stay immature in Christ or do not really know Him.

just a quick f.y.i. peter- when you tell others what they believe , or how they feel, or what is in their hearts, WHICH YOU DO NOT KNOW, this kind of makes you a liar.

I'm actually offended by self righteous gas bags. But I get over it pretty quickly.

For any believer to say sin does not matter is to deny their faith.

The small sins people are talking about, are just sin like anything else and worthy
of damnation.

Lying, stealing are all main line sinful behaviour.

Anger is often a typical self condemning emotion which people deny in their lives
and ends up controlling them.

The real lie is when the fight against anger in the heart by repression makes it too
big and strong with massive outbursts occasionally. This is not about sin at all but
about denying everyone has the right to get angry. It is a God given emotion to
know we hurt and things really matter to us. Out of context and repressed it can
grow into rage and be truly dangerous, but by letting love and forgiveness into ones
heart most of this should be removed and sorted out.

No my friend you do.

Sin has no power over me, But you hide it, So sin has power over you, if not, you would not be so judgmental.

gb9 - a quick f.y.i. to tell people how they come across, what they appear to be saying,
the emotions they are expressing, how hearts can be addressed when in certain situations,
is speaking the truth.

The problem with feedback is often the person themselves is not listening to their own
words, or emotions, or key indicators of where their heart is.

So if someone says "I love Jesus, He is my everything, my Lord and Saviour" and then
ignore his words they are lying to themselves. It is like saying I read the instructions
to operate the television, but it will not switch on. Either it is broken or you did not
read the instructions.

What I find interesting is how people will say something, you repeat it back and they
say you are lying, when you use the same words. What they are saying is in their mind
the assumptions and meaning within the words are different than the ones the person
hearing it has, so its meaning changed. So both are probably speaking the truth, the words
mean different things to both parties. Now with a good heart, you can start to work this
through, but it depends on how much love and understanding is really there. For some
clearly not a great deal.

I find it amazing we have a brother in Christ who seems to continue to accuse and demean others in the body of Christ.

In reality you know nothing of others and you continually accuse others of denying works, as greasy gracers, as illiterate when it comes to the bible.

You have no intention to engage in conversation with a view to helping or learning.

You just want to impose your view as right and if anyone dare disagree with you, you make snarky, snide comments and let's be honest you accuse of heresy.

Romans 12:9-10
Behave Like a Christian
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;

I like this post. Talking about sin and Christ is not important.

I think nothing more needs to be said about the heart out which this sentiment came.

But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

If only you would really believe that. Then you would stop.
If we say we have no sin, we decieve ourselves.

If you would listen to John, You would stop being so self righteous. John spoke present tense and included himself in that statement, This was long after Christ departed..
