Some people we just can't interact with because if you believe something different then they do in a non-essential subject - they will jump on you and verbally attack you and Paul says to just avoid them as no good can come from interacting with them. Rom. 16:17
It's just the flesh acting up and we all do it from time to time but there are those that are continually exhibiting this type of behavior. Those are the ones Paul is talking about in Rom. 16:17 and in 1 Cor. 5:11.
Non-essentials are tongues, end times, believing in healing the way "I or my group does"....etc.
Essentials are the deity of Christ. - we are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone that His blood has redeemed us and that through Him alone we have the forgiveness of sins.
I consider it an essential doctrine when when I was accused by WoF people of not having enough "faith" to be healed. Because it is God who gives faith, it is not something I drum up by sheer will power. And if I God didn't give me enough faith to be healed, then he also didn't give me enough faith to be saved.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Eph 2:8-9
"For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned." Romans 12:3
That is the logical end of the Word Faith doctrine. It ties to soteriology, and claims healing is related to the atonement, which is pure eisegesis, based on pulling Isa 53d out of context, and in the 2 NT references, which also do not say healing is in the atonement.
Really, the entire end of WoF claiming ALL sickness must be healed, is that anyone who is not healed, is therefore not saved!
Fortunately for me, God has used suffering to transform me! That includes physical pain, but also emotional, social and so many circumstances beyond my control. God did not send sickness on me, but he does allow it, because we live in a fallen world. Jesus is the only one who was not fallen, as a man, which is why he could reverse sickness. But then even he suffered terribly, and strangely, it helped him develop character! Because being perfect, means perfect character!
"Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. 9 And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him," Hebrews 5:8-9
Please note the Greek for the word "suffering." In verse 8 above is ἔπαθεν, which means, "suffering." Just in case there is anyone with limited Greek trying to translate it to fit their personal bias.
