So by omission did they also expect the New Converts not to be held to honor the First and Greatest Commandment? Or "Love your neighbor as yourself", is this also not imposed on the Gentile believers "by omission"?
And the following verse that you cleverly omitted. Why would James mention this? We already know the Gentiles were listening to the Scribes on God's Sabbath.
Acts 13:
42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue,
the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the
next Sabbath.
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Acts 18:
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews
and the Greeks.
What did they learn Marc? That God didn't want them to follow His Commandment?
Didn't the Gentiles already know about the Sabbath according to scripture and were, like the Apostles, observing it? Why would James impose a commandment from God on them that they were already observing?
21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Is it reasonable to assume that James would "impose" on the New Converts the
same thing Jesus instructed them to do?
Matt. 23:
1 Then spake Jesus to the
multitude, and to his disciples,2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
3
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Isn't it true that the Jews who "disputed" with the Apostles, who claimed to be trying to get the New Converts to be "circumcised and keep the Law of Moses", were actually still promoting their own religious traditions? Their own doctrines Jesus said were created from the Commandments of Men that they had preached for centuries.
It doesn't make any sense for the Apostles to turn the New Converts away from the "Jews who believed" if they were teaching the same things the scribes read every Sabbath day, including the 4 commandments James imposed on them.
No, there is a huge deception taught about this chapter that you are furthering, whether you know it or not.
The Jews were not trying to turn the New Converts to God and His Commandments. They were trying to turn the New Converts away from the Word and towards their religious traditions which neither they, nor their fathers could bear.
"
10 Now therefore
why tempt ye God, to
put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which
neither our fathers nor we
were able to bear?
There is no Biblical evidence that the "Yoke" Peter spoke of was God's Commandments. The Bible actually teaches the absolute opposite.
Matt. 23:
4 For
they (The Pharisees, not God)
bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and
lay them on men's shoulders( necks) but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
Acts 7:
51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost:
as your fathers did, so
do ye.
52 Which of the prophets
have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels,
and have not kept it.
John 8:
44 Ye are of
your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
No, the preaching that the "Yoke" the fathers couldn't bear was the Commandments of God, and not the religious traditions and doctrines Jesus rejected them for, is another insidious lie that has been placed on the necks of people for centuries.
I doubt your pride will let you admit this error, but for all those who are reading, can you see why Peter and James rebuked the Pharisees then imposed some of God's Commandments on the Gentiles while directing them to learn the rest from the same place Jesus directed the Apostles to learn from?
The Bible flows together and supports itself for those who use it for instruction in righteousness.
But for those who use it to further their personal lifestyle or religious traditions, it becomes an enemy and a sword and will be used as judgment against them.
Matt. 10:
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Heb. 4:
12 For the word of God
is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and
is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
How Great and Wise is the Lord my God.
The first commandment is NOT omitted from The NT nor Is Lev 19:17-18
Matt 22:36-40
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
KJV
The second commandment is covered in Acts 15:28-29
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
29
That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
KJV
The third commandment is covered in Rom 1:20-25
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
KJV
The fifth commandment is also included in the NT. Matt 15:4-6
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
KJV
Likewise the 6th Rom 1:28-32
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy,
murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
KJV
Likewisw the 7th Gal 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;
Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
KJV
Likewise the 8th
Eph 4:28
28
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
KJV
Likewise the 9th and 10th Rom 13:9-10
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal,
Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
KJV
Only the 4th commandment is NOT COMMANDED of NT believers. Not only that; but non-observance is defended by Jesus Himself.
