I'm all for dropping all the nonsense. But I also am not going to have a bunch of false claims being entered here without responding with the truth. Fact is that some approve of following scripture "as it is written" and some are not in favor of that. I agree stances are not likely to change.
I went back and looked at that... and to anyone who was not already ginned up about this topic, it would be patently obvious that she was joking with you... the grinning smiley at the end of her comment is proof of that.

Sometimes you have to lighten up and laugh... even at yourself. It can be very "healing".

sorry... I "replied with quote" to the wrong post...

I appealed to you twice to let it drop. So why don't you?

It isn't his use of the term "little lady" on it's own that makes it offensive. His whole tone is off.

All we have to do is agree to disagree and let it drop. Is this fellow willing to do that? I mean without labeling us all feminists (to which I object profusely) and calling down fire & brimstone on our uppity heads?
Again I ask? (why must you make me shout?)

Would you just listen for once ? Little lady is not any aggressive attack. Your and the other lady's knuckle sandwich comment was made at another man. I simply said it was arrogant and ridiculous, which is true. And the only handling of the scripture that I did was to post it. Then when you argued against it so profusely I said you don't have to go by it. I was only the messenger, as I told you I did not write the Bible. I only suggested you recognize it as truth and stop arguing with it. Now, I'm finished arguing about all of this ridiculous antics and am taking Mel85's advice not to continue. You ladies can have the thread.
No, it's not aggressive; it's passive-aggressive. It's a belittling/demeaning term meant to show disrespect to gain advantage.

To quote the immortal (?) Rodney King.... can't we all just get along?

Let's put any bruised egos aside, and discuss the topic, or let's just drop the whole thing. There are obviously strong differences of opinion on this issue, and I'm not confident that either side will be swayed by being beat over the head with the same scriptures over and over...

Much like me on the "baptism" thing....
You have your baptism thing.
I have my spirit of the word instead of the letter thing because the letter kills.
Angela and Lynn have their healing thing.
EG has that whole misspelling thing.
Magenta has her purple thing.
Dcon has his caketaker thing.
Melita has her m & m thing.
Bug has her orange tabby thing.

It's one big can of mixed nuts.
I love mixed nuts...:)

There is zero fact there. All speculative and total opinion.

JOHN 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

MATTHEW 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

So then, why cannot I have my "follow the scripture as written" thing ?

Not changing this into a works and letter of the law thread now are we? :D Because if we are, dccon will be in and you will NOT like it because I am a dandelion compared to him. :D

dc is right on with many things as I have read several of his posts and I have no problem discussing this issue with him. I'm not attempting to change the thread to anything. These verses were in response to you just now posting that the "letter kills". Not according to the two verses I just posted it doesn't. In fact in these verses God is clearly saying NOT to abolish his laws. I see no reason one cannot have faith and still abide by the laws. It does not have to be one or the other. Both can be done together.

So...your response is...because of this verse and that verse, it is therefore not true that the letter kills? (Which is also a verse.)

Faith would be eroded if one does not abide by the law. If one focuses on humbly serving the Lord sin is avoided. The law kills because without it one would not know what sin is but once it is known you must repent of a sinful lifestyle and confess your sin to God. Jesus dying on the cross for our sins makes salvation possible. Once the Holy Spirit is invited into your heart you will be comforted and guided on the correct spiritual path you must take so you can eventually bear fruit.

I ask: How can anyone demonstrate faith if they purposely disregard God's laws ? And if they are not purposely disregarding God's laws, then they are trying to go by them. And this is not changing any subject of this thread as one of those laws is that "women are not to preach in the church". So, one either keeps that commandment or they do not. Not keeping that law is clearly going against both JOHN 14:15 AND MATTHEW 5:18.

The letter may "kill" if it is all alone, but it cannot kill when accompanied by faith.

How on earth can you claim scripture is "my opinion" ?. It is not my opinion, by any means. Why do you ridicule someone so much for choosing to side with what the scripture says ? Makes no sense why a Christian would bash somebody for suggesting the word of God is correct and wanting to go by it. You are right, I am not God and it is ludicrous to suggest that I ever claimed any such thing simply by passing along His word.

We Preach Christ the Holy Spirit nothing to do with male or female. It his word we preach.

You are offering your opinion of what you think the scriptures are in forming us. Called a private interpretations. Nothing more and nothing less. There is no daysman as a infallible umpire between God and man on earth. The Pope has aleady claimed that position.

There is only one good teacher not seen .Just as we are not to calll no man on earth we are not to call no man good teacher on earth. One is in heaven .Even the Son man did not made not claims as you are making. When called good teachr he replied only God is good.
