Romans 6:17 - We obey that form of teaching and are freed from sin when we choose to believe the gospel (Romans 1:16). Read Romans 10:16 - But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?"

In Romans 6:16, there is a contrast here between servants/slaves. There are only two kinds of servants/slaves in this world, in the spiritual sense; servants/slaves of sin unto death, or servants/slaves of obedience unto righteousness. When we place our faith exclusively in Christ for salvation/believe the gospel by trusting in His finished work of redemption as the all sufficient means of our salvation, we then become "servants of obedience unto righteousness." Being slaves of sin is put in the past tense. Paul goes on in Romans 6:18 - "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."

*Notice in Romans 10:10 - For with the heart one believes unto righteousness..

*Notice in Romans 4:5 - But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith (not works) is accounted for righteousness.

If one reads Romans 2:6-10 in isolation from the rest of the book of Romans, one might conclude that Paul was teaching salvation by works. However, as you read and study these passages, it is imperative to keep in mind that these verses do not describe how one becomes saved, but the way the saved conduct their lives. These deeds done are the result of, not the means or basis of receiving eternal life. So patient continuance in well doing, seeking for glory, honor, and immortality; (vs. 7) is not at all set forth as the means of their procuring eternal life, but as a description of those to whom God does render life eternal. Notice that ALL who receive eternal life are described as such, everyone who does good (vs. 10). Good deeds flow from a heart that is saved and evil deeds flow from a heart that is unsaved. Verse 8 - but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath. Notice that ALL who do not receive eternal life are described as such, everyone who does evil (vs. 9).

What those passages convey is that though our deeds are judged by God, it's not the good deeds themselves which are the basis or means of receiving eternal life, but the type of deeds expose whether our heart was saved, or not. These deeds done out of faith are the fruit, not the root of salvation. If Paul wanted to teach that we are saved by works, then he would have clearly stated that we are saved through faith and works/deeds in Ephesians 2:8,9 and that we are justified by faith and works/deeds in Romans 5:1, but that is clearly NOT what Paul said.
How will you explain away: Jesus said if you love Me you will do what I say.
Don't you say believing is enough. Yet Scriptures plainly teach Believing is NOT enough. A person can believe 100% and Fail miserably to DO what Jesus commands. Namely Love One Another.
This generation can continue to believe that Faith only is enough, that believing ONLY is enough, and when they are left behind to find out the Truth that believing was NOT enough, then they will remember all those people who tried to tell them it was not enough, they will weep and gnash their teeth, because they were WRONG. Faith only is dead. your belief ONLY is counted as dead. YES believing is required for one to be Saved, that is TRUE and accurate, but there is MORE to it that that, read the Scriptures. Jesus plainly says, why do you call me Lord, and not do that things i say. Why do call Him Lord, because you believe that He is the Lord, but the problem is you only DO the first step, you believe, but altogether Fail in the next step, and that is obedience, DOing what Jesus told us to do. You go ahead and call Him "Lord" because you believe, but just because you believe He is Lord and claim to be Saved, does not make it so, like you falsely believe that doctrine that teaches that. You would do well to recall and study the parable of the Savior separating the goats from the sheep. Most people in this generation teaches the goats are the unsaved, They do not know the TRUTH. The unsaved don't call Jesus "Lord" it is written only by the Holy Ghost does one call Jesus "Lord" The goats and the sheep are all believers in the Lord. The goats are they that teach believing is enough, and therefore don't NEED to have works. The sheep not only believe but their works prove who is actually in their hearts. So you go a head and keep telling yourself that believing is enough, that you are sealed forever because you believe, that you are covered, and if you don't have works, i assure you with no doubts whatsoever you will be deemed a goat, and separated from those who not only believe, but have works to back that belief up. You goats have been warned.

The Scriptures plainly teach that believing is enough (John 3:15,16,18,36; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26; Acts 10:43; 13:39; 16:31; Romans 1:16 etc..). Believe 100% and failing miserably to do what Jesus commands is an OXYMORON (1 John 3:7-10). Faith that merely claims to be genuine but lacks evidential works demonstrates that it's dead (James 2:14). Saving faith is alive in Christ and results in producing good works (Ephesians 2:5-10). Goats are not genuine believers but are unbelievers. You are not qualified to judge me as a goat and you had better be careful that you are not a deceived goat in sheep's clothing, like these many people in Matthew 7:22 who trust in their works for salvation.

The truth is all we can do is believe to be saved, for we are sinners when we have faith, and believe on Christ, and then we are cleansed.

All are sinners and have fell short of the glory of God,our righteousness is as filthy rags, and there is none that does good,no not one.

We are in a position that we cannot get out of our self by anything we do to please God spiritually, and we cannot inherit the kingdom by our works being in that position,so the only thing we can do is believe on Christ, and the truth.

This is what Paul was talking about when he said we are not saved by our works, talking from a fleshy position without accepting Christ, talking to Gentiles to give up their religions, and turn to God and accept Christ, for that is how they will find favor with God.

They could please God in the Old Testament according to physical ordinances, and if they happened to obey the moral laws, although they could not do it perfect, but in the New Testament we can only believe on Christ when we first come to Him.

Paul is speaking from the fleshy position, not saved by works.James is speaking from the spiritual position, led by the Spirit showing love, and the kingdom of God.

Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Jas 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Jas 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Jas 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Jas 2:25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

We have to be led of the Spirit doing works of love, like feed the poor, preach the Gospel, and such,to have faith active in our life.

Paul is speaking from a fleshy position, not saved by works, and James is speaking after we are saved from a spiritual position, faith with works is dead, and not faith alone, but we have to show love towards people.

But if we have the Spirit we will do that anyway show love towards people.

So Paul is saying accept Christ, and James is saying be led of the Spirit, which we know we have to do anyway,so people should not worry about a controversy concerning Paul and James, for James is saying be led of the Spirit, for without the Spirit you are not with Christ.

Rev 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Here Jesus said He did not find their works perfect before God,and told them to repent concerning it,which means they did not allow the Spirit to lead them like the should, which the Bible says quench not the Spirit, but do what God wants you to do which is to love people, for if not then faith without works is dead.

But if you are led of the Spirit you will do the works anyway.

I write this because some people think there is controversy between Paul and James, but Paul is saying accept Christ, and James is saying be led of the Spirit, which we know we have to do anyway, and love people for love is the fulfilling of the law,and without love we are nothing,is what James is saying.Show love towards people so faith can be active in your life, which we know we have to do anyway.

Scriptures plainly teach Believing is NOT enough.
You goats have been warned.
Not even totally and sincerely believing in your hearts!

True saving belief unto eternal life goes something like this:
heart belief + faith + trust + obedience + enduring until the end of life

I don't have a great imagination.
I don't guess at what spiritual Truth is.
I read and understand the NT.
I see and understand God's warnings.

One guy somewhere really out-did me;
he said he has found 150 anti-OSAS NT verses!
I've only noticed about 100.

for we are sinners when we have faith, and believe on Christ,

John was writing to believers in 1 John when he instructed that
they are cleansed from their (on-going) sins by Jesus' precious blood
when they confess their sins, i.e. confess them and repent of them.

repentance ... sorrow over your sin, confess your sin to God, change (run from your sin)

Repentance... acknowledgement of your sin, turn away from your own work at trying to perfect yourself through the law or any other means, turn to Christ Alone who has power to change you.

R4 ... these works have nothing to do with obeying Jesus' commands (James' works don't either).

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Getting Saved and Being Saved are two different things.

A person gets Saved and they are written in the Book of Life.

But just because a person Got Saved, written in the Book of Life does not mean they will not be blotted out of the Book of Life.

Now, you believe you are Saved by Grace through Faith, and your name is written in the Book of Life, is that not correct? Yes, who would say otherwise, right?

Now pay attention to the Word of God and what it says.

1Jn_2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

1Jn_2:11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

1Jn_3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

1Jn_4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Tell me, if a person is SAVED and hates his brother, are these verses then made void, and that person is still SAVED and have eternal life in him/her?

People, wake up from your sleeping. If what you believe contradicts even one verse in Scriptures then what you believe is WRONG

So go ahead and believe the few verses all the while ignoring all the rest to justify your own belief. Go ahead and believe :

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

And totally ignore all other verses which plainly teach WHO is Saved and who is NOT SAVED. It is only when a person believes every verse before they can grasp the TRUTH.

i will tell you what this generation is like unto.

A Farmer has 10 daughters, all are of age to get married. The Farmer makes known throughout the whole land that whoever marries his daughter will inherit his entire farm, and he had much land. Now each one of his daughters had a different virtue. One was happy, One was honest, One was loving, One was pretty, One was kind, One was patient, and so forth. Many men came to try to marry one of his daughters to inherit all the land. All the men would meet all 10 and decide which one they would ask the Farmer to marry. When it was time to talk to the Farmer, they would say, i love "------" because she is so pretty. The Farmer would say "What of the others?" the man would say, well i don't like "----------" or "--------" for this reason or that. The Farmer would reject that man. The next man would come up and say "I really love 4 of your daughters" If I were to pick, I would pick "-------" The Farmer would reject that man also. Many came seeking the inheritance but only one got it. This man said to the Farmer "I love them all, and can't decide which one to marry" This man inherited EVERYTHING.

Those who pick and choose which verses they will love and believe, ignoring others verses will be rejected by the Son of God, Again if there is one verse that contradicts what you believe, your belief is WRONG. It is only when all verses agree with your belief, that you may have touched the TRUTH. But as long as you believe a doctrine that contradicts a verse in Scriptures, you will be devoid of the TRUTH, because you choose to believe a false doctrine.

i can ask you three questions, which in all likeliness you will not answer the third.

First, when a person is SAVED is their name written in the Book of Life?

Second, Does Scriptures teach a person can be blotted out of the Book of Life?

Third, please answer. If then a person is written in the Book of Life (SAVED) is it possible for them to be blotted out of the Book of Life?

Scriptures PROVE OSAS is not the TRUTH.

A. Context proves that one is only removed based upon rejecting Christ....

So...your view makes God a liar..

Ecclesiastes 3 states clearly that WHATSOEVER God does it is eternal, nothing added or taken away from it....

So...your view would have this verse say....

Whatsoever that God does is eternal EXCEPT SALVATION which can be lost because the grace of God that outruns your sin is not as good as you make it out to be God....

Bark up another tree....the bible is clear...a name is only blotted out when one dies in their sins because the blood of Christ has not been applied by faith......

ALSO...your view means the following...

Eternal is temporary
Everlasting is temporary
Save to the uttermost does not mean uttermost

You serve a weak god with a small g.....My God saves eternally and the only heresy being spread is the loss of salvation farce!

Everyone is written in the Book of Life. Christ is the Savior of the world.

1 Timothy 4:10 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.

1 John 4:14 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

Refuse to believe in what Christ has done - and you will remain condemned.

John 3:17-18 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

[SUP]18 [/SUP] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We have life because we have the Son. Jesus is the way the truth and the Life.

John 20:31 (NASB)
[SUP]31 [/SUP] but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God;
and that believing you may have life in His name

.

1 John 5:11-13 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

[SUP]12 [/SUP] He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

[SUP]13 [/SUP]

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

People are blotted out of the book of life for refusing to believe in Christ's finished work for them - that He has obtained eternal redemption for them by His blood.

[SUP]18 [/SUP] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We have life because we have the Son. Jesus is the way the truth and the Life.

John 20:31 (NASB)

The only ones who deny the truth of everyone being written in and only removed based upon a rejection of Christ seems to be the working for salvation crowd.....they will find out soon enough that salvation is eternal and based upon faith and the work of Christ...albeit too late for them though!

Revelation 3:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] 'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

To be clothed in white garments is the righteousness of God which is in Christ. Righteousness is a gift from God. Rom. 5:17

Isaiah 61:10 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

How do we overcome? John gives us the answer:

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 Jn 4:4)

Overcoming is not about jumping through hoops and satisfying the expectations of men. It’s about depending on The Overcomer who lives in you.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 Jn 5:4-5)

Are you born of God? Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God? If yes, then the Overcomer lives in you and you can’t help but be an overcomer.

That’s why Jesus told the disciples to be encouraged during times of tribulation; because he – not they – had overcome the world and because they would carry his overcoming Spirit within them.

We are called to fight the good fight of faith! Believe in what Christ has done and His life will be manifested in every circumstance of our life while on this earth.

The Scriptures plainly teach that believing is enough (John 3:15,16,18,36; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26; Acts 10:43; 13:39; 16:31; Romans 1:16 etc..).
And conveniently not reference the verses which teach it is not enough. Answer me this question. If i Truly believe in Jesus Christ and hate me brother, am i still SAVED? Answer?

Believe 100% and failing miserably to do what Jesus commands is an OXYMORON (1 John 3:7-10).
Are you suggesting that anyone who 100% believes CAN'T fail to obey Jesus? Please explain this, it makes no since to me. A person must Believe (Faith) and obey Jesus (Works, Love One Another) Scriptures even talk about people who have Faith but no works, they believe in Jesus but fail to Love One Another.

Faith that merely claims to be genuine but lacks evidential works demonstrates that it's dead (James 2:14).
So this statement said in equation form is this: Faith - works = dead. That is exactly what you are saying in the above statement, which is exactly the TRUTH. Faith without works is dead.

Saving faith is alive in Christ and results in producing good works (Ephesians 2:5-10).
Absolutely True. Likewise what is True, is Saving Faith is dead in Christ if there is no good works. Faith-works=dead

Goats are not genuine believers but are unbelievers.
This is a man's belief and not based on any Scriptures at all. It is easier for you to believe they are the unsaved and not proclaimed believers, because if the goats were believers then many would be convicted because of the amount of failing to Love One Another that is in their life. But i will tell you the TRUTH, the Goats are professed Christians, and Scriptures concurs with that.

Jesus separating the goats from the sheep is Judgement Day correct? Are you aware of Scriptures which teach the ungodly will not stand in the judgment? (Psalms 1:5) There is no need to judge the unbelievers, because they are Judged already, they are unbelievers. Judgement Day is NOT to judge the unsaved, it is to Judge all those who profess to know Jesus Christ. The Great White Throne Judgement will judge satan, demons, and the unsaved.

1Co_12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Is that verse True or False? Jesus Himself said the goats called Him "Lord" Why would unbelievers call Jesus "Lord" they do not believe He is the Lord and would never call Him "Lord"
Tell me, do unbelievers say "When did we not feed you, Lord"?
Do unbelievers say "When did we not cloth you , Lord"?

You do error believing the lie that the goats in this parable is concerning the unbelievers. Here is a FACT. Unbelievers don't call Jesus "Lord" The goats in that parable called Him "Lord" and they were genuinely confused as to when they did not feed Jesus, clothe Jesus, they thought they were Christian enough, they thought believing He was the "Lord" was enough.

And here is the Zinger, to all those who believing that believing is enough, the parable itself plainly teaches IT IS NOT ENOUGH. The Goats called Jesus "LORD" So of a Truth, they believed He was the Lord. IT was NOT enough. This is also confirmed other places in Scriptures too,

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

And what does He say? Love One Another. How do you Love One Another? feed the hungry, cloth the naked, give to the poor, help people, give to charities, do good to people, be kind to people, visit the sick, the elderly, those in prison. Everything the GOATS did NOT do. there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth, when Jesus ask typical Christians of the last days generation, you did not feed me, cloth me, help me. And all your mouth work calling Him Lord, Lord is not going to help. Those who Believe in Jesus will obey Jesus, those who obey Jesus, will Love One Another. its that simple.

You are not qualified to judge me as a goat
And now you judge me, as judging you? Tell me when did i ever call YOU a goat? i don't call anyone any names at all, that is ungodly and there is no love it it at all. i would not call you or anyone a goat, i speak in general, and attack no one in particular. please reread what i have said, i have never called you or anyone at all, a goat.

You are not qualified to judge me as a goat and you had better be careful that you are not a deceived goat in sheep's clothing, like these many people in Matthew 7:22 who trust in their works for salvation.
So are you now calling me a goat? i thought you said goats were the unbelievers? Do you think i am an unbeliever or do you concur that a person can be a deceived goat and still be a a believer?

Anyone who trusts in their works for Salvation will weep and gnash their teeth when they are rejected from Heaven.
Anyone who trusts in their faith for Salvation will also weep and gnash their teeth when they are rejected from Heaven.
The sheep who are accepted by the Savior, have Faith AND works.

If a person is Truly Saved and has Jesus living in them, they WILL have works. Because Love lives inside of them.
Many claim to be Saved and have Jesus in them, but their lack of works PROVES that He does not live in them.
Anyone who does good works to be Saved, will not enter into Heaven.

Faith = Salvation (WRONG)
Works = Salvation (WRONG)
Faith + Works = Salvation (TRUE, and is confirmed by Scriptures)
