Abomination---a foul detestable thing
Of desolation---a laying waste
Abomination of desolation was a term used to describe an unclean object placed in a holy place. rendering it unclean.

the abomination is an idol. or unclean thing, detestable. unholy

the thing made desolate is the holy place

in the case of the temple. it will be the most holy place. the wing of the temple.. An example of it is when antiochus epiphanies slaughtered a pig in the holy place. causing the maccabean revolt

Daniel 9:24“Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to [v]finish the wrongdoing, to [w]make an end of sin, to make atonement for guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and [x]prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place
Dose not say a word about the temple being built.

The Bible does not say "anoint the most holy place".
It says "anoint the most holy" referring to Jesus as verse 25 states.
Need to stay away from these later day corrupt translations.

Anyone who would offer a blood sacrifice as a sin offering would be committing blasphemy because it would deny the blood of Jesus and what he did on the cross.
WHY would God allow/accept that?
How could such open sin be tolerated by God?
How could God see the place this is done as holy?
The temple was destroyed in 70AD and the nation of Israel ceased to exist, and the Jews were scattered through out the entire world and persecuted and if not for God's intervention would have all been killed because the Jews continued to do what you propose He will allow again.
You and others may think God will allow such to take place and may also "interpret" Scripture wrongly to prove it, but I will not.

God won;t accept it. Prophecy does not say they will do sacrifice and God will accept it. God had not accepted sacrifice LONG before Christ came because Judah was in sin.. the presence of God had long since left the most holy place..

remember, If God was actually present, when the false high priest in sin entered in, he would have died.

Prophecy does however say that sacrifice and burnt offering will be taking place when the man of sin comes.. And it will happen in as jesus said, the holy place.

What verse states sacrifices and burnt offerings will be taking place when the man of sin comes?
When God left, which He did, there was nothing holy about the temple.
No place is holy if God is not present.

I agree the abomination of desolation will occur BEFORE the tribulation. That is when the tribulation begins.
Before the GREAT tribulation begins, which is the latter half of the 7-year Tribulation.

New International Version - anoint the Most Holy Place
English Standard Version - anoint a most holy place.
New American Standard Bible - anoint the Most Holy Place.
Only the KJV & NKJV do not.

Are you a king james only?
I am not KJV only, but I will disregard any that changes the meaning of a verse which most of the later day versions do.
A place is only holy if/when God is present there.
The inter part of the temple, that behind the veil, was only holy when God was present there.
God's presence had not been in any part of the temple for many years when Jesus came.
That temple was destroyed in 70AD because the Jews continued to reject the new covenant, that Jesus confirmed, that replaced the old covenant.
God will never honor the old covenant again, and the Jews are planning to once again return to the old covenant if they build a new temple.
God will not be there. There will be nothing holy about it.
I don't care how many later day bibles translations choose to change the meaning of Scripture by adding, taking away, or changing words.

Something to consider when reading Daniel 9:24.
Before the Most Holy is anointed, the 70 weeks will be complete, and ending of sin, a bringing in of everlasting righteousness, a sealing up the prophesy.
When will the events happen?
Kind of disproves that this anointing the Most Holy is referring to a new temple being built by the Jews before Jesus returns.

The most holy in this context is Jesus when he sets up his throne and is anointed king for 1000 years

The great tribulation occurs before he returns

Mtt 24:
15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

Christ returns AFTER this even, That is how he shortens those days.. or all life would be destroyed..

Thank you.
I do NOT believe in pre-trib rapture but I'm still pondering Christ second coming!

Those whom think they WILL ESCAPE the great tribulation IMO hold onto false hope.

I believe the grt trib will be directed @ those of faith who OPPOSE the AC !
( NOT THOSE LEFT BEHIND )

He is our hiding place, in him is our refuge ........in the here & now and will remain so until his second coming !

So when a later day translation adds the word "place" to anointing the Most Holy, that completely changes the meaning of the verse, should you accept that translation?

there is no perfect english bible.

So we better test all words, and make sure they are right.

That is how we "lean not on our own understanding" as He commands:)

God does not have to recognize it, or approve it, nor does his spirit have to be there

But there has to be one built with the jews (in sin) making sacrifice in a holy of holies for the man of sin to abominate the holy place by declaring himself to be God.

otherwise, prophecy can not be fulfilled
I concur with your estimation.
