I'm curious how, if animals just automatically go "down", and have no soul, how could the sacrifice of one have ever taken the place of a man losing his soul to sin?

In other words, if an animal is automatically doomed to hell, how could it then take the place of a human doomed to hell? You can't buy redemption from something that was never to be redeemed in the first place.
Real deep question ricky. Thanks alot. Like I really felt like thinking tonight. Man...I thought you were leaving. !!! (just kidding...it'll be fun to see how this gets worked over):)

Just thought of a silly poem from childhood. Wonder what made me think of it?;)
• I never saw a purple cow, I hope I never see one,
But I can tell you anyhow, I'd rather see than be one.
=============================================
Now all the sudden I feel real bad for all those nice purple cows ..... :(
I'm so sorry, I take it all back!

It is written, as the body without the spirit is dead so is faith without works dead also. It didn't say our human bodies but every body. Animals have bodies, so there must be an animal spirit of some kind in their bodies. Otherwise, their bodies would die as well.
Also, Nebuchadnezzar's heart was changed from that of a man to that of a beast or animal. Which caused him act and to start looking like one. He was even able to eat grass for seven years, which we cannot do physically.
Just something to consider.

I think that unfortunately some supposed Christians have a need for power and looking down on someone is great for that.

so they figure they can always look down on animals because you know supposedly they dont have souls.

You see this is how racist Christians get started if you aren't better than someone else at least your better than animals.

Im very ignorant about the bible but Noahs Ark seems like another lesson about common sense,in the little that I remember of the bible there seems to be more than a few lessons like that.

God didn't tell him to take all of those animals for sustainance, its a already proven fact that some animals humans aren't supposed to consume the avian flu is a good example.

So why did God tell him to bring all those animals? Think about it practically.

To elaborate on that I think that was a lesson specifically demonstrating that humans are responsible for caring for animals because they have souls like us.

A practical example for that is look at what happens when a species is wiped out because we didn't step in and care for the environment.

Guam is overrun by snakes and 40 times more spiders and other insects because the snakes ate all the birds that eat all the spiders.

just one of many examples across the world of humans not caring for animals and that having effect on us.

Not caring for animals is a main reason the ecosystem is going bad so it will eventually not be able to sustain us.

It's heartbreaking. I sometimes think you can get an idea of how a person will treat you based on how they treat animals. But maybe that's being a bit self'righteous on my part because I really like animals. In fact, I have a plaque that says 'The more people I meet, the more I love my cat'. But now that he's gone from here, I look back and realize I could have treated him MUCH better than I did, and have had times when I didn't treat God's creatures very well, and it grieves me every, EVERY day. I guess I need to re-think this...like everything else in my life...I guess. =_=

Yes, it is man's intelligence that causes him to puff up with pride and think he is better than supposedly less intelligent creatures... creatures that love us unconditionally and often give their lives, one way or another, to the service of humanity. I think you can absolutely tell much about a person by how they treat animals. :)

I miss my little buds SO MUCH right now, all over again, the pain is intense and hard to explain. The water suddenly won't turn off, and I gotta shut off the tablet, now. I can't see anyhow.

Would it be difficult for God to allow us our pets back?

No.

Will He?

Given His loving and generous nature, I believe He would.

If we go to Ecclesiastes 3:18-21 we see that animals have spirits, but Solomon is not saying that the animals spirit definitely goes down. It does seem to indicate it with the comparison of the human spirit maybe going up, though. 18 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals.19 Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[c]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless.20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

Hi, everyone! I am new to this all and this is the first thing I have ever posted, so if this is not the way to do it, please tell me! Thanks :)
My pastor recently did I series of sermons on Heaven, and one entire sermon was about how there will not be animals or pets in Heaven. Even though it was a very nice service, I can't say that I agree with him. I have done my own studying on it lately and the more I read certain passages of the Bible, the more I disagree with the idea of having no animals in Heaven.
I'm just wondering what any of you think about this topic, and what passages give you those views.
Thank you all!
-Samantha
The bible is very specific that animals have souls. I did a comprehensive study on animals, soul and breath of life. I was surprised to find animals have souls since I was taught they didn't. So be rest assured Fido and Kitty has a place in the after life and all the things they could not say will finally be expressed.

After my study I came to the conclusion that the spirit is the battery or life energy of living things. In other words it is the Life of God or God Himself giving animation to the body. When God put His Life Energy into Adam he became a,"Living Soul". The body of Adam had no Life Energy and therefore his soul was not conscious. When God breathed His life into animals they became living souls as well. Later on in bible the idea of soul and spirit become muddy and confused, but the OT does make a distinction.

Forgot to add that the Soul is the will, emotions and consciousness. Where as the spirit is the life force.
The only difference in my study between mankind and animals is that mankind is created in the image of God.
Both have a Soul and the [spirit] Life force of God. The idea that man has some special spirit from God never showed up in my comprehensive study of Soul, Spirit and Animal. I think
Ecclesiastes 3:18-21 explains it well.
