Good question.
I would say Massachusetts has a great model which if applied nationwide it would be great if tweaked further to allow for more weapons as I know that’s your favorite toys, not just for you but for millions of others.

1. Free healthcare and education .
You need these because you’re investing in your citizens so you want them healthy and educated.
Most modern nations already have this.

2. Have very strong protected borders .
Very simple. The country is not a revolving door so you need to make sure that people in your “house” are nice and safe.
For example Canada already beats USA in terms of requirements for their legal immigrants.

3. Strong military.
This is linked to the point above.
You can’t protect your nation with an army of ghosts.

4. Relaxed gun laws because boys want their toys.
I want nothing to do with them, but you can have them. :)

I’d say you can build more ideas off these main pillars.
Well, since you directed me here, I can might as well weigh in.

#2-4 are valid points.

#1 is a nice dream but I’m not sure if it is a good idea.

Free healthcare means that the government will be in charge of how you conduct yourself health wise. It’s not working particularly well either.

I had a friend who was living in a European country half of her life. She told me that the free healthcare system was not working. People died waiting for treatment because “free” treatment and poorly funded healthcare institutions are not a good mix. They say it is free, and to some extent it is, but people with resources are using various private health care systems, so the so-called free healthcare system is for the poorest part of the population. Not exactly the place for the highest skilled medical professionals.

I’m sad to say that my friend was one of the people waiting in line, in vain.

Free education looks good too, but at least it should be limited to people from the country offering it. If not, the system will be flooded by foreigners.

And the nurse practitioner movement in medicine in the US is a disaster. I've been looking for a new Doctor for the last six months but every time I go to my appointment's they tell me that they are actually nurse practitioners and they want me to see a specialist because it's beyond their years of schooling.
