UnderGrace this is beautifully said, simple even a child can understand...Some people make the word of God so hard, i am a new born again, just under 2 years i been walking with Our Lord, but like your self, i was blind and now i see, I know i have so much to learn, but the Holy Spirit teaches me day by day, bit by bit, step by step, i like simple, i love the whole book of 1 John, it lets me know that i am saved, i have read so many different teachings on this site that i have sometimes ended up doubting my salvation, but then i remember to always go back to the word of God and let His unchanging words fill me up and be careful of whose teaching i listen to...xox...
Hi Rx
If it's simple, then YOU answer the question...

Are YOU required to obey God?

Simple question...
I'm not the one making this difficult.
I agree with you! It's Very Simple!

Obedience is to live out His Word!

God gave His children the ability to do so!
Yep.

But that will not save you or keep you saved, and you will never live up to Gods standard.

NO one can be obedient to anything unless they are already born from above.....and said obedience does not embellish their salvation and birth which is based upon FAITH....

Did Jesus choose to be obedient?

How do we overcome? John gives us the answer:

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 Jn 4:4)

Overcoming is not about jumping through hoops and satisfying the expectations of men. It’s about depending on The Overcomer who lives in you.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 Jn 5:4-5)

Are you born of God? Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God? If yes, then the Overcomer lives in you and you can’t help but be an overcomer.

That’s why Jesus told the disciples to be encouraged during times of tribulation; because he – not they – had overcome the world and because they would carry his overcoming Spirit within them.

We still have as our enemy - the world, the flesh and the devil and Jesus our Lord has overcome them all. Stay in faith in what He ahs done and He will supply His life to work out what already is true in our new creation in Christ.

And thus our minds will be renewed to the truth that is only in Christ Himself and what He has done in His finished work.

We are called to fight the good fight of faith! Believe in what Christ has done and His life will be manifested in every circumstance of our life while on this earth.

Good thing then I ordered that new cross from Amazon the other one was getting worn out from

dragging it around everywhere.

I hope God has a sense of humor, since it pains me to not respond.:)

When I was a kid sitting in catholic school listening to the nuns talk about Jesus carrying the cross and hard it was for Him I used to think I had to do the same, but then I grew up and discarded the nuns yoke, and listened to Jesus and said thank you Jesus, You have gained for me a complete victory!

Whether I suffer in this life or not, it is not my focus, I focus on Him daily and die with Him daily because in His death and victory I have LIFE.

1 Peter 2:21
New Living Translation
For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

A word tried & true!

I agree with you Stephen, about the overcoming walk of the believer. But, in struggling with principalities and powers, what is our armor?

Is it not the name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, and putting His nature on?

I was given a vision. In this I went into the body of Jesus, with a thud...was looking backwards towards His backbone, then turned and was looking out through His eyes. This is our victory. It's all found in Him. Seeing as He sees, moving as He moves, and speaking what He speaks. This is our overcoming life. By the blood of the Lamb and the Word of His testimony.

I know you are Spirit filled. So how have you overcome?

God does not require obedience. He is fully self sufficient and requires nothing from us.

And God does not demand obedience either.

Those my dear, are the attributes of the gods of Greek and Roman mythology and other pagan beliefs

Is that how you view God?
Thanks for an honest answer.

God DOES require obedience.

We can't get hung up on this.
We just need to accept it and humble ourselves before God.

Thank Him for the possibility of being able to go to heaven with him.
This is one of the reasons Jesus died for us...
This is why He took the sins of the world upon Himself.
NOT to forgive sins.

They were forgiven even before.
John the Babtst bapbtized for the REMISSION of sins.
People were saved even in the O.T.

We have all answered you question!

Actually I think you should answer the question.

And please define the nature and extent of your obedience. That is the question you seem to avoid

I am not hung up on anything.

What you fail to understand is obedience is for our benefit not for His.

He is not some totalitarian dictator demanding and requiring absolute subservience.

I don't look down in unbelief, because I'm not perfect, or because I can't reach my goals like I feel I should.

And NOOO, I won't use "I can't live up to that" as any lame excuse to sit idle.

Phil 3:12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection.

But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.

13No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[SUP]d[/SUP]

but I focus on this one thing:
Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,

14I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.15Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.

16
But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.

I don't know about Greek mythology...
Maybe you're having a problem with God because you know about pagan gods and are concerned with comparison??

Just wondering...

Hi FranC...Well i have to be honest as i write this to you, i do believe we have to obey God, the reason why i say this is because i fell short of His glory last week and fell into sin, knowing sin, so yes i knew i was disobeying God, if i kept obeying Him then i would not of fell...Maybe i do not know as much as others about the word yet, but yes, obeying God to me feels like a must, He is my Father, i kind of think if i disobey Him knowingly, i am hurting Him willingly, like i said i am growing in the Lord, i only know a little...xox...

We have to add though that obedience is also for the benefit of others.

I am concerned that God has been molded into some vengeful dictator filled with anger against His creation....demanding and requiring obedience to appease His justice.

You should be too...because that is not who HE is.

Gotta go ...marking awaits...but I will be waiting for your answer. Quid Pro Quo:)

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
[SUP]28 [/SUP]“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. [SUP]29 [/SUP]Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [SUP]30 [/SUP]For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We must be obedient to the good news.
Doesn't make a lot of sense.
You could explain it...I don't really need you to.

I was asking if we're to be Obedient to GOD?
Fran, since you insist on yes and no questions. Please answer this yes or no.

Is Jesus' blood and Sacrificial death sufficient to pay for ALL of our sins? YES OR NO?

the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one
who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
