Totally irrelevant to this subject. The Sabbath was a sign between ISRAEL and God. Not between the Church and God. Christ is the Head of the Church, which is His Body. And the Church has been shown that Sabbaths are merely shadows. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the Body is of Christ. (Col 2:16,17) The reality is Christ and His Body, and the true eternal Sabbath is in Christ.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Psa_119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

Deu_4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deu_12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

You cannot ADD or TAKE AWAY any part of PERFECT, for then you have made that which was perfect into something that is not perfect. God does not do that. That is why He has no need to change. Jesus the son is the father. You cannot change a fact with a false doctrine or opinions that do not align with the Word. Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is ONE LORD.

Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psa 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psa 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Psa 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psa 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Psa 19:12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

...ye sons of Jacob...
And there you have it folks. The "sons of Jacob" are the children of Israel -- the twelve tribes. But Christ came as a Light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of my people Israel. So you are trying to make a mishmash out of the Old and New Covenants, and God will not allow that.

For the Law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. (Hebrews 10:1) It is in this context that Sabbath days are also called "shadows". But there are some here who are trying to drive Christians back to the shadows, and God will have none of it. Indeed it is a form of mocking God and the finished work of Christ.

When was the last time you attended the Temple for Yom Kippur? Oh… right, there is no Temple, so you skipped it last year (and every other year) which makes you a sinner.

You CANNOT follow the Law perfectly; it’s completely impossible. However, God doesn’t intend for you to follow the Law because Jesus already fulfilled it perfectly. That covenant is set aside.

conclusion that Jusus intended. He was explaining that the Sabbath is intended as a blessing.
yes

i still wish for one of these sabbath threads to turn into a discussion of all the amazing meaning and blessing in it, instead of the tired old 'it's required or else' vs 'are you crazy Jesus paid it all' debate over and over

i will not pressure anyone into trying to observe it, and i will resist any teaching that all must keep it.

But it's beautiful. it's Christ, it's the cessation of all my struggling, it's a picture of salvation

don't sabbath keepers meditate on what it means ever? or just on how wicked they think everyone else is?

*sigh*

this probably means it's up to me to make such a thread happen, and i have been doing it wrong

I would think this thinking of the first to add to the Word, just as it became required to call believers Christian after the renaming of those in Yeshua were named for the Greek version of Messiah which does not include the name of God, Yah.
big brother search the old writings for what they said about 'the 8th day' - - their thoughts will bless you

it is not so wrong as your initial reaction is. you know from the epistles how that there was much argument between the Jews and Gentiles, even believing ones, about the keeping of Moses in the new covenant. sabbath became a point of contention, even in our Lords own ministry, and it was no accident He rose on the first day of the week.

They made mistakes, yes, but in their thinking they also found beautiful things.

Just take some time to look into what the early fathers said about that day. you'll see it also in the law, the 8th day is the day the leper is declared clean, the child is circumcised, the offering of Firstfruits is made.

@JaumeJ

for example

Leviticus 22:27
When a bull or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall be seven days with its mother; and from the eighth day and thereafter it shall be accepted as an offering made by fire to the LORD.

is this not speaking of Christ, of the salvation He achieved for us?

with our mother - the schoolmaster - for a seven
then on the 8th, made acceptable to God 'thereafter' - forever - being baptized with spirit and fire

in a cycle of sevens, the 8th is also the first
:)

i may be guilty of "spiritualizing" the text but there is truth found there, beyond the literal, while the literal is also true. He, the Infinite One, wrote these things infinitely.

i don't want you to miss seeing these 8th things just because you honor the 7th ones. both are present, bro

But you and i both will know perfectly, soon enough -

My understanding is the establishment of all that is by the Father, that is six days and on the Seventh Day He rested. If we are to share His rest it is on the Seventh day. The eight day of creation does not exist according to the Word, but it must be the first day after the Sabbath. Yes, the first day after the first week is an eight day, but nowhere does it say we are to stop at eight, the thousand years begin after six days in this age,I believe. I will not argue this point for the Gospel of Jesus Yeshua does not depend upon it. All will be truly revealed come our King's Return, amen.

Not stop - go on forever and ever and ever
the 8th is the beginning of eternity instead of cyclically repeating dead works

YEHOSHUA = 888

it's OK - but i pray you see this little thing, big brother - i know you will love it when you see it clear, for sure.

There are many different times of cleansing given in the Word for various types of uncleaness, there are three days, 30 day, 6i0 days, and more. None of these days have changed the seven day holy week of our Father.
We may worship our blessed Father every day of the week, yet creation was and always will be a seven day period established by our Father Who is Jesus Yeshua, and Who is the Holy Spirit, One.
He is not confused about times or timings. nor does He confuse His Children about His Sabbath If He established dthe Sabbath forever, this is what it is.
We will enter into His rest upon His Day.
Once more, we have not become true Jews in order to Judaize, rather to become His Children and true Praisers of Yah.

Beware of those who say they are Jews but are not, rather they are an assembly of Satan.

Are you a Jew or a Gentile?
Is this question motivated by love? If so, my reply must be that All Who believe Jesus Yeshua are by translation Jews, that is by translation, praisers of God.
The more proper country for us all is the Israel of God with its Capitol to be New Jerusalem, so in this sense we are all Israelites, not to be confused with the Israelis of today, nowhere near the former Israel, nor the true Israel to come.

What may I ask are you? one of the sects calling themselves Christian, or one of the Sects calling themselves Jews. My denomination is simple, what Jesus Yeshua teaches, a Child of Abraham. Abraham means Father of the peoples..s ome say nations.

" . . . why do you compel the Gentiles to Judaize?" Galatians 2:14
