So I'm supposed to go to God and boldly declare "Lord, I DEMAND to be healed RIGHT NOW!!"? I don't think that we are to make demands of God..

yes but since you were 5 to now the treatment of seizures has changed, wisdom and better understanding has enabled us to treat them and disorders better. and just because prayer doesn't have an instant affect does not mean it is value less. and begging is one of the ways we shouldn't pray, Jesus didn't pray like that! we have boldness to come before the Lord, and state what stands before us, the Word He has given us can move mountains! we only need to believe the Word, confess the Word over our life, stand strong in that Word. He will give you the peace through every storm. and lastly we gotta fight the lies of the devil when he trys to say God doesn't do that, we gotta put him in his place with the Word!

last time I checked, this discussion is not about limiting God

it would actually be better described as the limits He has put on us

interesting how people who hold even a partial view of WOF do NOT do the ALL things they go on about

it is very wrong to assume people do not believe in the absolute power of God because they understand that the power is actually His and not ours
I would like you to share some evidence where WoF or anyone for that matter says the power doesn't come from God?

I think the error for all of us to learn is that because we have a bad experience with some people within a denomination - that we than label them as a "cult".
I'm going to disagree with this

the error is in emphasizing parts of scripture while neglecting to balance the parts with the rest of scripture

by definition, that is easily called a cult

I'll say to you what I said to Willie...

there is truth and in principal I agree about words

however, some here are not basing their strong objections because they had a bad experience...rather, they are objecting because they KNOW that scripture is being distorted and is NOT saying what WOF tries to make it say

not discernment, but physiologically speaking when you get offended and very hostile its a good guess to say you were hurt by it. i still think it. and if you feel like talking about it like a rational adult im here sister have a blessed thanks giving!

interesting

you are wrong, but don't let that discourage your take on discernment

I have never been a part of any WOF group...

calling me offended and hostile because I objected strongly to your unwarranted intervention in another thread is not going to fly

stay on topic if you actually want to discuss

I can promise you I have had enough psych courses, hands on experience, actual church leadership experience in counselling and deliverance among other things, that I actually know what I am talking about

the offense comes when flesh is rubbed the wrong way or exposed...at the moment, I am suffering from neither but aware of more then what I say

take that any way you want

So those of us who have prayed, begged, cried to Jesus for healing for say, the last 30-plus years, and have NOT been healed, is due to our walk with him? Sorry, I don't believe that. If He wanted to heal all of us in a one-time shot for all and good, then we would be good to go for the rest of our lives.. I believe that God strengthens our walk with him the most, when we are in pain, or have an illness to deal with. You need only read any of my testimonies to figure that out. :)

you shouldn't believe it and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

oh they say that

but then where do the accusations of your faith ...lack thereof...is the reason you are not healed

the emphasis is on the human being

and does the phrase 'we are little gods' sound familiar?

please don't do that...don't come up with what you think is a challenge no one can meet...ESPECIALLY concerning this topic

this is what I said...that you responded to with the 'challenge' you addressed to me

where in there did I say people are saying they have the power?

nowhere

if a person goes before God and assumes their words convince Him of something, then that becomes a dependence on saying things a certain way

and voila...there goes WOF

absolutely there are degrees of it and degrees within a congregation..however the abuse is well documented...I think we have watched enough TBN to know exactly what I'm talking about

Well I'm not much into watching TBN. I think Christians need to get their eyes off of TV and start mingling with people outside the home and see what opportunities God will give them :)

When I pray for something specific I find a verse that is in agreement with what I'm asking

Is that word of faith? They aren't just verses many are promises......

95% of my requests are for other people and I know God loves them so it is easy to believe

I don't impose timelines on God because He's dealing with...people

As I reflect on my prayer life I'm realizing that I do more thanking than asking............

nope

from GOT QUESTIONS...a succinct answer

again, not all WOF are deep into it...it's the extremes and the abuse that is harmful

standing on God's promises and looking to Him to supply the answer and accepting either yes or no is not WOF

it is the demanding God does this or that and because He has to because He said so...not good

the Bible says we are to know the will of God...we don't tell Him...He should be telling us and at the same time, we are free to come before Him with boldness...and make our petitions known..and thank Him for hearing us

Just read Hebrews 2:4
"And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose."

What is the difference between WoF and white magic? Or positive thinking? New age theories?

Except of a christian clothing, of course.

I think that is a bit extreme. What is Faith? Is it negative thinking or positive?

What is the WOF doctrine for victory over sin, the world, the flesh, and the Devil?

Word of Faith is not the same as the word "faith". Its a movement originated in the USA that was being propagated to all over the world, mainly in 90´s.

Even though it failed in every area of life, some people still hold it as true. Mainly in both Americas and Africa.

I know what it is. I was responding to your comment about white magic and positive thinking. I assumed you were saying positive thinking is a form of white magic
