No one will be able to "buy or sell" unless they have the mark. The mark is an economic mark. The number (which somewhere in its code has 666) will be ones personal account, where money can be taken or given. Basically paper money is done away with. People who do not have this mark will not be able to buy goods such as food, or make money to buy what it is they need.

Amen, As jesus said of this time, He who endures till the end will be saved! 3 1/2 years will seem like an eternity to these people.
