We are saying that earthly water does not save, whereas you
say a person must be dunked or they remain in their sin.
Whereas still another says that if you are not baptized, your body will not resurrect.
I must admit, that is a new one for me He says your soul will resurrect without its body
“We are saying that earthly water does not save, whereas you
say a person must be dunked or they remain in their sin.”
not at all I’m not saying water saves anyone. Neither are you.
I’m saying this which Jesus said is true and saves
“And he said unto them, Go ye into
all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mark 16:15-16
you are saying “ baptism in water like John the Baptist established being sent from God has nothing to do with it” God almighty sent John to baptize with water for remission of sins in preparation for accepting the gospel.
God said to believe the one gospel and get baptized in the one name for remission of sins is my point, I am simply accepting and agreeing with it.
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but
that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
And John bare record, saying,
I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
And
I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.”
John 1:29-34 KJV
God sent John to announce remission of sins through his mercy it’s throughout prophecy God established baptism is my point we aren’t supposed to say “ well it doesn’t mean what God said it means “ we’re meant to hear about baptism and accept it look what would happen if we said ok baptism what’s the Bible say about it ?
“
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; As
it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him
all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.”
Mark 1:1-5
this is before Jesus is baptized , receives the Holy Ghost and starts preaching the kingdom. John sent Hod disciples to Jesus after that happened and then those who heard and followed Jesus kept baptizing now in his name rather than johns.
“When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that
Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, (though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)”
John 4:1-2 KJV
after Jesus died and rose he says this
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even
unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:18-20 KJV
I’m. It saying water saves anyone the gospel says to get baptized for remission of sins , I just agree even after they are baptized with the Holy Ghost like Jesus promised
same baptism for remission of sins and same promise of receiving the Holy Ghost
“Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For
the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even
as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Then they that gladly
received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Acts 2:38-39, 41 KJV
there’s no reason for us to take a well established doctrine made so
Not by me or another person who believes what it says irrelevant God has said what baptism is for many times over
if we believe Jesus shed his blood for remission of our sins , we take the step of faith and get baptized in his name for remission of sins. Water doesn’t save doing what God said to do and receiving the promise he promised saves
he said to believe the gospel get baptized and be saved
you two seem to be saying “ that’s all irrelevant water doesn’t save “
but you know to each person thier own interpretations though. But just for consideration look at what we could learn about baptism of we just accepted it for what it says ? If we did that then look what Paul’s teachings do for us
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”
Romans 6:3-4, 6-7, 10-18 KJV
but a wrench gets tossed into what we could learn because we say “ that’s not talking about “baptism in water “
there’s just the one baptism as you quoted before John established it and he came baptizing in water , later they added in the name of Jesus and you have Christian baptism
it’s an act of faith sister water doesn’t mean anything what God has said about Cho choosing to get baptized for remission of sins matters and makes the act important it’s faith in action
all this said I’ve never said not getting baptized will condemn a believer neither did Jesus that’s not at all My point , my point is baptism has a very important and relevant place in Christian doctrine the Bible explains a lot about it but we keep saying “ that’s not saying baptism when we read stuff like this
“Now
to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to
thy seed, which is Christ. …For
as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ…. And
if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Galatians 3:16, 27, 29 KJV
look now what Peter was saying regarding baptism
“Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, ( water )
and ye shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ( spirit)
For
the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Acts 2:38-41 KJV
it’s important doctrine is my point and Jesus and the scripture has a lot to say about it but the idea I’m saying “ water saves “ is way off I’m saying. Whatever Jesus said saves , saves and he and the apostles made baptism for remission of sins an important t part of Christian doctrine and right belief
