are you guys saying Peter had it wrong ?
We are saying that earthly water does not save, whereas you
say a person must be dunked or they remain in their sin.

Whereas still another says that if you are not baptized, your body will not resurrect.

I must admit, that is a new one for me  He says your soul will resurrect without its body

Baptism in Water washes away sins as per Acts 22:16.

"And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’" (Acts 22:16).

Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to sanctify her, cleansing her
by the washing with water through the Word, and to present her to Himself as a
glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.

I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from
all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my
song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of
living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Isn't that a specific promise for the Jews at end time?
And now we proclaim to you the good news: What God promised our fathers
He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. Acts 13:32-33a

The promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world was not
given through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. Romans 4:13

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:29

“We are saying that earthly water does not save, whereas you
say a person must be dunked or they remain in their sin.”

not at all I’m not saying water saves anyone. Neither are you. I’m saying this which Jesus said is true and saves

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭

you are saying “ baptism in water like John the Baptist established being sent from God has nothing to do with it” God almighty sent John to baptize with water for remission of sins in preparation for accepting the gospel. God said to believe the one gospel and get baptized in the one name for remission of sins is my point, I am simply accepting and agreeing with it.

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
‭‭John‬ ‭1:29-34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God sent John to announce remission of sins through his mercy it’s throughout prophecy God established baptism is my point we aren’t supposed to say “ well it doesn’t mean what God said it means “ we’re meant to hear about baptism and accept it look what would happen if we said ok baptism what’s the Bible say about it ?

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:1-5‬ ‭

this is before Jesus is baptized , receives the Holy Ghost and starts preaching the kingdom. John sent Hod disciples to Jesus after that happened and then those who heard and followed Jesus kept baptizing now in his name rather than johns.

“When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, (though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

after Jesus died and rose he says this

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’m. It saying water saves anyone the gospel says to get baptized for remission of sins , I just agree even after they are baptized with the Holy Ghost like Jesus promised same baptism for remission of sins and same promise of receiving the Holy Ghost

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39, 41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there’s no reason for us to take a well established doctrine made so
Not by me or another person who believes what it says irrelevant God has said what baptism is for many times over

if we believe Jesus shed his blood for remission of our sins , we take the step of faith and get baptized in his name for remission of sins. Water doesn’t save doing what God said to do and receiving the promise he promised saves he said to believe the gospel get baptized and be saved

you two seem to be saying “ that’s all irrelevant water doesn’t save “

but you know to each person thier own interpretations though. But just for consideration look at what we could learn about baptism of we just accepted it for what it says ? If we did that then look what Paul’s teachings do for us

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-4, 6-7, 10-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

but a wrench gets tossed into what we could learn because we say “ that’s not talking about “baptism in water “

there’s just the one baptism as you quoted before John established it and he came baptizing in water , later they added in the name of Jesus and you have Christian baptism

it’s an act of faith sister water doesn’t mean anything what God has said about Cho choosing to get baptized for remission of sins matters and makes the act important it’s faith in action

all this said I’ve never said not getting baptized will condemn a believer neither did Jesus that’s not at all My point , my point is baptism has a very important and relevant place in Christian doctrine the Bible explains a lot about it but we keep saying “ that’s not saying baptism when we read stuff like this

“Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. …For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ…. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:16, 27, 29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

look now what Peter was saying regarding baptism

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, ( water )

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ( spirit)

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s important doctrine is my point and Jesus and the scripture has a lot to say about it but the idea I’m saying “ water saves “ is way off I’m saying. Whatever Jesus said saves , saves and he and the apostles made baptism for remission of sins an important t part of Christian doctrine and right belief

water baptism is pretty well established really the fact that some scripture doesn’t specify it doesn’t erase
what’s already established. It’s just proper doctrine we get baptized in water for remission of sins
You have said water baptism is necessary for the remission of sins aside from having faith.

If one's sins are not remitted due to not being dunked, how could they be saved?

If one is not saved by faith alone in Christ alone, if one needs to be dunked to
receive the remission of sins promised through faith in the shedding of the
righteous blood of Christ, then many other Scriptures are denied and contradicted.

I've never been baptized, and honestly, I've never felt compelled... To me it feels more like a devotion to a church than to God.
Precious friend, no reason to feel compelled to be water baptized, as that would
just be part of the Confusion of water, as seen in Several denominational "church"
traditions, as demonstrated in this post, And, Also in Great Conflict with What
God Is Doing Today, Under GRACE, Where He Clearly Teaches There Is Only

ONE Baptism. Amen? Summary, showing (if "context is king," as many say),
God's Contexts:

(1) Prophecy/Law for ISRAEL:

►►► The Twelve Were Sent to {water} baptize! ◄◄◄

The TWO Main (of 12 baptismS) =

A) water, For remission of sins/induction into Israeli "priesthood!":
(Matthew_3:5-6; Mark_1:4; Luke_3:3; John_1:31; Luke 7:29-30; Acts_10:37)
(Matthew_28:19; Mark_16:16; Acts_2:38, 22:16; Ezekiel_36:25)
+
B) WITH The Holy Spirit, Poured Out By CHRIST, for
power, signs And wonders!
(Isaiah_44:3; Matthew_3:11; Mark_1:8, 16:17-18;
Luke_24:49; Acts_2:17-18, 38, 8:15-17, 11:16)
Prophecy/Law

Rightly Divided (2 Timothy 2:15) From “Things That DIFFER!” {online}:

(2) Mystery/GRACE! =

our " ONE apostle to the Gentiles" for The ONE Body Of CHRIST:

►►► Paul Was Not Sent to {water} baptize! Why Not?: ◄◄◄

Today: Only ONE Baptism = "BY" The ONE Spirit = God's OPERATION,
Spiritually
Identifying members In (The ONE Body Of) CHRIST!!
(Ephesians_4:5; Colossians_2:12; Galatians_3:27;
Romans_6:3-4; ►►► 1 Corinthians 12:13 KJB! ◄◄◄)
-----------------------------------------------------
Then, within His Context Of Grace/Mystery, we find the
"Washing Of Regeneration" Today, is not by water, But By
The Holy Spirit, As Confirmed By "What Saith The Scripture?":

a) not physical water, as that would be a "work of righteousness
that we ['man's operation' would] do," and Scripture Declares:

"not by works of righteousness which we have done"

b) Along With "Circumcision [without hands] of the heart"
(Colossians 2:11), Sanctification, and Justification
(God's Spiritual OPERATION), we have:

“And such were some of you: but ye Are Washed, but ye Are
Sanctified, but ye Are Justified In The Name Of The Lord
Jesus, And By The Spirit Of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11)
------------------------------
Precious friend:
Please Be Very RICHLY Encouraged, Enlightened, Exhorted, And Edified In
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, And In His Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided!

GRACE And Peace...

Did the baptism of Jesus simply fulfill prophecy and the "law"?
Jesus had John the Baptist baptize Him (Jesus) to fulfill all righteousness.

So either all righteousness was fulfilled, or it was not. I say it was :)

Jesus' baptism also fulfilled prophesy ;)

During His baptism, John, the greatest of all men according to
Jesus, was shown that Jesus was the long awaited Messiah.

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost….

Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:44-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

would you say Peter is talking about water here ? After they receive the Holy Ghost his first command is for them to get baptized in water

or is this water also figurative ?

“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

my point is if the apostles and disciples kept baptizing in water teaching this as a seperate event from receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost , why are we debating whether it doesn’t apply or has been replaced ?

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39, 41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

trim of these examples specifically
Mention water there’s no reason for us to say well acts two doesn’t specifically mention water so it’s not talking about water baptism the apostles were t practicing the wrong baptism and Peter specifically commands the Gentiles to be baptized in water after they received the Holy Ghost

Nothing about baptism has changed but for the name one is baptized into
I believe that Acts 2:38 is talking about water baptism, along with Acts 8:36-38, just not in every case as I already pointed out in post #16.

why did they keep baptizing people in water ?

Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:47-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

are you guys saying Peter had it wrong ? Or that he’s not talking about water baptism here ? Or Philip didn’t he get it ?

“And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:36-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If water baptism no longer applied the apostles wouldn’t have kept making it important peters forst command to the Gentiles was baptism in water , as soon as the eunuch believed what Philip was preaching they went into the water and he was baptized.

of this is true

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

then we either have to say the scripture has this water baptism wrong and the apostles didn’t get it or maybe we should rethink baptism
I believe you are getting carried away. Nobody is saying that EVERYTIME water is mentioned in Scripture that it does not refer to water baptism, but the Bible does talk about "living water" and "washing of water by the word," along with the baptism of the Holy Spirit and there is only one baptism that places us into the body of Christ and that is Spirit baptism, not water baptism.

Ephesians 4:5 - one Lord, one faith, one baptism.

1 Corinthians 12:13 - For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born againb he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.c 7Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘Youd must be born again.’ 8The winde blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

How can we be certain that Jesus was talking about the "water of the womb" here? Is it simply a matter of context and translation?

I've never been baptized, and honestly, I've never felt compelled... To me it feels more like a devotion to a church than to God.
Personally i believe we should be baptized. Staying dry will not keep one from heaven. I kinda look at like this it was good enough for Jesus to do and we are to follow Him. My personal thoughts the river not some comfortable baptismal. :) She says while ducking the rocks...

IF one needs to to the work of baptism to be saved does that make one a co- redeemer with the Son of God . Guess His sacrifice was not enough for some folks .

IF one needs to to the work of baptism to be saved does that make one a co- redeemer with the Son of God . Guess His sacrifice was not enough for some folks .
No one is co-redeemer with Christ.

The Bible says;

Baptism is Required

Peter 3: 21.... whereunto even baptism doth also now save us...

John 3:5 .......Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Acts 2;38-....Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 22;16... And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Galations 3:26...... For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

KJV Marrk 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

KJV Matthew 3:14... But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15. Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfil all rightesousness. Then He suffered Him.

KJV Matthew 28:19..... Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:.

Acts 8:12-18: But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

John 3; 22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.

Quote from Billy Graham that is note worthy;
....Also, to clarify I did not say remission of sin takes place at repentance. Scripture makes it clear that it occurs upon obedience to water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus. Each is a step of faith, along with receiving the Holy Ghost, in the process of one's spiritual rebirth

.."Paul explains the doctrinal significance of what occurs when one is baptized. His explanation is found in his letter to those who had already been obedient to the command.

Paul tells the Roman Christians what actually occurred when they were/are baptized; they were baptized into His death. Being buried with Jesus into His death resulted in their sin being destroyed.

Even though Paul explains this concept, the NEW AGE RELIGION TEACHING is......... that water baptism is nothing other than a mere public display.......... And that is so far removed from the truth.

Keep in mind that Satan knows if he can continue to perpetuate that lie ...... he can keep people from entering the kingdom of God. Thus He has proven scripture which says ...in the end times there will be ...great delusions.....they are here.

Conclusion....teaching that baptism is not necessary is violation of Rev. 22;19.... And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Also two other books of the Bible).
=================
"If"!!!!.....???

The above is God's word...why would anyone question it?

Baptism in Water washes away sins as per Acts 22:16.

"And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’" (Acts 22:16).
Paul had already believed in Christ when Ananias came to pray for him to receive his sight (Acts 9:17). It also should be noted that Paul at the time when Ananias prayed for him to receive his sight, he was filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17)--this was BEFORE he was water baptized (Acts 9:18). Verse 17 connects his being filled with the Spirit with the receiving of his sight. We know that he received his sight prior to his baptism.

Excellent article on Acts 22:16 - https://kentbrandenburg.blogspot.com/2015/03/acts-2216-baptism-essential-for.html

Read the article. ;)

*It's interesting that when Paul recounted this event again later in Acts (Acts 26:12-18), he did not mention Ananias or what Ananias said to him at all. Verse 18 again would confirm the idea that Paul received Christ as Savior on the road to Damascus since here Christ is telling Paul he will be a messenger for Him concerning forgiveness of sins for Gentiles as they have faith in Him. It would seem unlikely that Christ would commission Paul if Paul had not yet believed in Him and was still lost in his sins before water baptism.

I'm confused... If water baptism is necessary, then certainly Jesus would have made that clear. So my question is, where and when did the Hebrew tradition of water baptism originate?
Baptism by water is not a requirement for Salvation.
Salvation is only thru the shed Blood of Christ that began the moment HE was betrayed and the horrific beating began and His Precious sinless Blood was pouring from His Body.
The FINISHED Act was completed on the Cross where HE died.

Baptism by water is an Act of Righteousness.
Acts of Righteousness and/or Works of Righteousness do not save us. They are the expected outcome of Faith and Obedience to God.

"For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life."

The Righteous act of water baptism was first brought forth in Genesis with Noah = 1 Peter ch3

"For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit, in whom He also went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.

In the ark a few people, only eight souls, were saved through water. And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him."

Never give any bother
to religion that trusts in water
Christ's Sinless Blood
is the Father's Greatest Love

Mere fleshly water is for a bath
it can never appease God's Wrath
the Cup of the New Covenant we must Drink
for there our Savior went the farthest Brink
Shedding His Blood on Calvary's Hill
our sins now Forgiven, Christ Paid the Bill

Down we go under the water
because our old life does not matter
UP we come from down below
His Resurrection Finished the Work you know
