It's about transformation, not manifestation. If someone gets up from it changed and praising God and living more in the will of God, then you better watch it if you say it's not of God.

Look at the fruits and not the falling.

In many instances today, where there is a mass group of people meeting, much of this could be group think. People may fall backwards on purpose because they know they'll be caught.

I say get rid of the catchers. If God is really doing it, then they'll land safe and secure. If it's something man made, then they'll land and have a headache and know enough to not do it again.

i agree :D :D :D :D

I say that an apple tree gives birth to apples and a cherry tree gives birth to cherries. So i have to agree with the fruit that comes from this situation and tend to lean toward not being too judgemental about ones experiences. I say that I would rather see a person walking and operating in the gifts of the spirit and focus on the giver of the gifts.

Test everything with Scripture which is our final authority in all things. See what Scripture says about the CHARACTERISTICS of the Holy Ghost.

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20

Remember, satan is a MASTER counterfeiter. He will do signs and wonders to deceive the world. So be on guard! (1 Timothy 4:1, 1 John 4:1)

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..." John 16:13

I've been slain in the spirit. I know that it isn't from the Devil at ALL.
Right before I was slain, the pastor who was praying over me, just looked at me and said, "Stop trying so hard. He loves you" And then he touched me, and I fell over. It felt like a whole weight was lifted up off my shoulders. It was such an amazing experience. And then I started crying. I finally knew what he was talking about. I was 10 when he said this to me and I was sexually abused when I was 10 and I started being physically abused by my Dad. I started feeling that God didn't love me. I think part of the reason was that because of what my Dad and cousin did to me, I felt guilty because I thought it was my fault. So I felt that God didn't love me. So I tried my best to earn God's love. I tried and tried. But I still felt like God didn't love me. And when the pastor said that, I knew God did love me.

But I still feel as if He doesn't most days, but it's not based on my feelings. My relationship with God cannot be based on feelings, since feelings come & go. I need to KNOW that God loves me, even if I don't "feel" it at times. I need to KNOW that he does.

But anyways, I got off topic. But that's what happened to me.

I've been slain in the spirit numerous times in powerful services... 99.9% of the time no one's there to catch me :D haha it's the most awesome feeling though... it's like the Spirit is kinda sweeping you off your feet and you just feel total peace, it's the greatest feeling ever.

The concept of "being slain in the Spirit" is totally without warrant by command or example in the pages of the New Testament. If during the days the Holy Spirit was unquestionably active in a miraculous way we see nothing like this, then it is highly unlikely to be of the Spirit.

The very Spirit blamed for such ridiculous behavior commanded that those things done in the assembly be done with decency and order (1 Cor. 14).

God is not the author of confusion. This phenomenon is not of God. It is more likely one of three things: demonic to dupe the gullible, hyper-emotionalism, or contrived by men to dupe the gullible.

Carpentmanswife,

I know what the Bible says and it says to test the spirits. It tells us to test everything and hold to the good.

There is no way that this silliness is of God.

Jesus told certain disciples to go and find a ass that had never been ridden and ask for it for a certain purpose that if we in our simple minds really do not understand and we this day and time would probably question . I will be very reserved to judge what others do to be demonic to the point that it may not prove to be profitable to argue the point with someone who has never had this happen to them. I would say the limits of God are beyond my comprehension most of the time! Remember that there were certain men that said that Jesus was out of order as well!

yes I wouldn't test God by saying this phenomena is demonic, that is bordering on blasphemy of the Spirit which is the unforgiveable sin.

If a thing does not agree with the known revelation of God's Word and it purports to be supernatural there is only one other sources folks.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 (NIV)

9
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

So what you are saying Slepsog is that in a church atmosphere full of the praise of Jesus these wonderful christians falling under the power of God are actually being touched by satan?

Remember that the bible does not accurately describe everything which happened or every supernatural occurance. Just because something isn't in the bible doesn't mean it isn't from God.

Mahogany,

It is bizarre behavior totally inconsistent with the nature of spiritual worship. It is rooted, if not in the demonic, in hyper-emotionalism.

We are commanded not to go beyond what is written, so they have no command or precedent for such foolishness.

What's so bizarre about falling under the power of God?

Have you never felt God's presence in such a real /tangible way? I have never fallen totally under the power, but I have been weak at the knees!
