"He doesn't speak old English to the modern believer."
Oyster is correct in his response to this outlandish comment. When someone makes such a silly statement, it is clear that he does not have a clue. God has been speaking to countless million believers through the KJV for over 400 years. And He still does.

SOME OF THESE SO-CALLED "BELIEFS" ARE COMPLETELY FALSE, BUT OTHERS ARE TRUE.

NO ONE BELIEVE THIS NONSENSE
1) The KJV was the first English translation of the Bible.

ONE COULD SAY "BLESSED BY GOD", SO NO ONE BELIEVES THIS NONSENSE
2) The KJV was authorized by God.

THIS IS TRUE AND PROVABLE SINCE IT IS A WORD-FOR-WORD TRANSLATION
3) The King James is always true to the literal words of the Hebrew and Greek texts.

ONE COULD SAY "ALMOST" PERFECT SINCE IT CAN BE FURTHER IMPROVED
4. The KJV is a perfect translation.

THIS IS ABSOLULTELY TRUE SINCE ALL MODERN VERSION ARE CORRUPT
5) The KJV is a better translation than the modern versions.

"GUIDED AND LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT" WOULD BE MORE ACCURATE
6) The KJV translators were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
How do you know no one believes this "nonsense"? Are you omniscient? I have discussed this topic in other forums, and I was told that if I didn't use the KJV, I wasn't saved. I was accused of using a corrupt translation that I was deceived, etc.

I say that the KJV is no longer a viable translation since the language used is obsolete.

Your response lacks much.

The KJV doesn't save anyone, it is just a translation, and a very old one too. By the way, how many believers in this world DO NOT speak English and therefore do not read the KJV? How many believers that do speak English, DO NOT use the KJV? I never did, and I am extremely pleased that I can navigate several translations that I can understand.

My friend oyster,

There are so many problems with the first post, I don't know where to begin. It's really not worth my time to correct and debate this man. His pastor probably passed along all of that nonsense just as he is doing with the Word of God in our language. I give those posting here benefits of the doubt in God's Word that they are simply repeating that which their pastors told them. I did that too until I did some digging for myself.

I agree with you that our Lord speaks to me through our Bible as he does you. It's not difficult in 98% after getting saved and reading it cover to cover a time or two.
I will look up a conference of a couple preachers discussing this subject for your edification. Please feel free to ask me if you would like any faith building videos or articles on this subject. I hate to see believers faith or unbelievers potential faith to be undermined. Here you go.

This makes you the final authority. I don't want that responsibility. I believe every single word of my KJV.
Which means you abdicate your responsibility to think to a group of 17th-century Englishmen... as noted previously. It's your choice, but it's no more right or holy than anyone else's different choice.

FALSE: Millions have been saved through the preaching and use of the KJV in tracts etc. Add the numbers over 400 years. Perhaps hundreds of millions.
By the way, how many believers in this world DO NOT speak English and therefore do not read the KJV?
Have you heard of the Trinitarian Bible Society? Contact them and find out how it works.
How many believers that do speak English, DO NOT use the KJV?
A recent survey of Americans only showed that the MAJORITY preferred the KJV!

This comment and point 5 in your OP are your weakest points and don't logically follow. Archaism in itself does not makes something useless, obsolete or less effective than a modern dialect, especially when a mindful effort is taken to understand the archaisms. It can even open up your mind to a different way of thinking.

You could suppose that a modern translation could be better than KJV, but that preference is going to be subjective and has no business being spoken of as a purported objective or universal fact.

Nope, I trust that God used them to complete the preservation of his word in the English language.

Amen. Interesting 10-minute video. God has preserved His unbroken Word, just like He promised He would. (y) God does speak to me in old english, and with the Holy Spirit by my side, we understand it just fine. The old tried-and-true unbroken chain.

We are very happy for you. It's just a shame that you have taken it upon yourself to try and blast the KJV into oblivion. (It's not going to happen.) It is not obsolete, and it never will be. God has preserved His Word and is still doing so. It is a shame that you refuse to include the KJV in your vast repertoire.

I don’t use the KJV
That's ok, but feel free to look into it any time you like, because it is doubtful that any of the modern translesbians (that is what spellcheckers do for us) TRANSLATIONS will be living to the ripe old age of 400+.

Whelp, that's a gamechanger. I did not hitherto realize that all 17th-century Englishmen were stupid illiterate morons who were completely unusable by God.

Sorry about all that previous hullaballoo I just spouted off in the previous posts.

I try reading the KJV from time to time but I stumble over the words too often. Right now I’m using the NKJV.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- He does to me!:giggle:

.
Did you learn Old English or did God give it to you as a tongue gift?

The left column is Old English (header in Latin). The right column is a Middle English translation of it.
The KJV is written in early modern English.

Been thinking about this thread this morning... Got to thinking of Matthew Mark and Luke. They are the same....sorta... not exactly the same Mat uses Kingdom of Heaven Mark and Luke use Kingdom of God. Matt speaks a lot about healing, Mark not so much, Luke being a doc speaks talks more about healing then the other two. The point i am trying to make is there are different yet the same. God's kids are different yet the same. One translation can be different then the other yet the same. ( i know there are far out trash called bibles) I am speaking of translations His kids use. I even like the kids Bible with pictures like a comic book.. He is our center Him the essence He is not the paper and print binding.
