Do you believe that only those who speak in tongues are saved? - “no tongues, no indwelling Holy Spirit.” Do you believe that being baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirt is an invalid baptism and that we must be water baptized “in Jesus name only”? I absolutely consider Matthew 28:20 - "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Sadly, there are those who set out to obey what Jesus has commanded (ON THEIR TERMS, NOT HIS).
My argument is not about forbidding speaking in tongues, but like I said in post #867, I am concerned about those who pervert the gospel by teaching that ONLY those who speak in tongues are saved - “no tongues, no indwelling Holy Spirit.” So my concern is over the abuse and misuse of tongues and perverting the gospel and not over the gift of tongues in general. The gifts of the Spirit (which are only for the body of Christ) are clearly spelled out in 1 Corinthians 12.
Yes, we are supposed to strive to obey everything the Lord has commanded, which does not include abusing and misusing tongues and perverting the gospel.
No one attacks people should be obedient, If we did, we woudl have to attack ourselves
Your precept is in error. So you are untrustworthy.
You do realise he preaches sinless perfection do you not?
Tongues is the least of his worries.
If I preach sinless PERFECTION as you imply or say but could not show any proof then you are just slandering, accusing and attacking me and my views simply because I promote obedience to God and which clearly proves that you do reject the teachings regarding obedience to God's commands such as the ff:
NIV1984 Matthew 19:16-21,26
Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good.
If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “
If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” ...Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
NIV1984 John 14:20-24
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and
we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
If that's what you call sinless PERFECTION then I must be a sinless PERFECTIONIST and not a sinful PERFECTIONIST.
NIV1984 Hebrews 11:40
God had planned something better for us so that
only together with us would they be made perfect.
If you want to ENTER LIFE which is Jesus, obey the commandments as Jesus did when He came in the flesh. Rejecting His teaching to obey His commands is to reject the truth that He came in the flesh to do exactly what His Father COMMANDED Him to do.
NIV1984 John 14:31
but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me....
NIV1984 Hebrews 5:8-9
Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, ONCE MADE PERFECT, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
NIV1984 2 John 1:7-11
Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.
Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit to those who are in the body of Christ whom Jesus will save being the head and Savior of that body which will be presented to Him as a pure virgin bride. The gifts are essential for building up that body of Christ and in no way should any part of it look down on those who possess any such gift.
NIV1984 1 Corinthians 12:14-15,25-26
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body... so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Therefore,do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
"No deceiver would truly teach obedience to God and no true Christian would ever teach DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD."
