So in Genesis God says to Adam and eve out of dust they were made and to the dust they will return but I know nowadays some ppl have themselves burned to ashes and ppl keep their ashes in a jar or something. Is this one of those things that satan tries to pervert God's ways?

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Ya I know that phrase but I never found it in the bible, it does speak of us returning to the dust and it speaks of God turning ashes to beauty but I don't think the ashes I am talking about is what it is refering to

Correct, it is poetic. Have always wondered about it too, though. Is it wrong to be burned after death? After all it is just a corpse, but does it go against God somehow?

*makes sounds of unsureness* I feel like the option of burning the body and spreading/keeping the ashes is more focusing as if the person was still there. I think it's more for people that think there may not be anything after, and just want to have their burial be more symbolic. I would prefer to be buried and have a headstone as a memorial, not like not having a jar of human charred remains in a bottle. I understand that there may be financial issues where they can't do a casket, but if I ever have to be cremated please don't have what used to be me in your living room.

I have seen way too many sitcoms where a kid knocks over the ashes and is like "I SPILLED GRAMMA AJSHGAJSGDAJSG"

It probably doesn't matter. The ashes of a person are precious to God, just as the dust of a corpse is.

Scientific principal applies here. Matter cannot be destroyed. Whether you rot in the dirt or your ashes sit in a can is irrelevant. Your atoms still exist, just in different compounds. The resurrection is going to occur on a subatomic level (a subject for another thread), so even if your ashes are spread across the globe you will be resurrected intact.

Even if your decomposed body is eaten by worms which is eaten by birds which are later eaten by humans...just kidding.

If Christ's blood fell on the ground, some of his DNA is also here it would seem.

My mother, my brother, my mother in law all chose to be cremated. My daughter lay to rest beside her husband who died in active duty.
We don't have any of the urns on display in our home, they are tucked away in our spare room. My wife and I plan to start a family plot which will include her and I when the Lord calls. All of us in one area with markers it's really quite simple but nice.

I think the ashes reference you seek is found in the book of job.

The issue of burial is deeply rooted in the belief that their old body of flesh will be resurrected would naturally resist cremation, and as scriptures represent, the practice of burial was the predominate practice, at least among the Jewish by the references to the tombs. However, the issue of the resurrection was apparently debated before the time of Jesus or it at least appears as such considering the passage in Acts 23:8

For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

Since the OT contains passage regarding the resurrection of the dead it would be difficult to argue that the Pharisees hadn't aready had a belief in the resurrection before the period of Jesus in the NT.

Personally, I consider that once a person dies, they awaken in a new body on the new earth, so how better to dispose of the corpse than to cremate.

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.Matt 8:22

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 1 Cor 13:3

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. Rev 21:5

No kidding! Even if we don't eat the birds, the birds fertilize the
food crops we eat... Everything gets recycled in God's economy. :)

As to the ashes, I just read about this recently, in Malachi 4:3

"Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the
soles of your feet on the day when I act," says the LORD Almighty.

Or if we even get as far in time as to be burned up in some automobile in the future lol

So what happens when two people share the same subatomic matter. Are they resurrected as Siamese twins?

It's just a quicker way of returning to dust is all.

I'm not sure I understand the question... how can two share matter? That eaten by worms - birds - then other humans thing? That's an interesting (if disgusting) thought... ;)

It was a rhetorical question with a twist of humor. If our bodies are defined by subatomic particles, then that would create a problem when other beings incorporate the same particles into their bodies later.
