He that believeth (Pistis) AND is Baptized SHALL BE saved.
He that believeth not (Apistos) shall be damned.

Pistis connected with salvation means to COMPLY with what I habe been commanded.
Apistos means "I will NOT comply." The word identifies or MARKS a person in Revolt and is Treacherous.

Christ in Isaiah 1 defined the PROPHETIC TYPE.

g4100 Pisteuo from G4102 Pistis g3983 Peitho to rely, make friends, obey, trust, yield.

2 comply
, hōs oukh hupeixōn oude pisteusōn legeis; S.OT625, cf. 646 ; opp. apisteō, Id.Tr.1228.
II. p. tini ti entrust something to another
to whom he trusted that they would keep silence, have entrusted to one
i to be entrusted with a thing, have it committed to one,

Example Soph. OT 616 Chorus
He has spoken well, my king, for one who is taking care not to fall: those who are quick in counsel are not sure.
[625] Are you resolved not to yield or believe? hōs oukh hupeixōn oude pisteusōn legeis;

God sent Jesus to seek and save the LOST. I believe that means "lost spirits" because Jesus said that He does not even PRAY for those OF the World. He said that He was not OF the World (Kosmos) and his apostles and those who believed their words are not OF the World. We are pilgrims and sojourners and have no enduring city or place: Jesus calls us OUT of whatever the Kosmos People are doing based on their own effort. The purpose is to REST (from them) and to "Come learn of ME." John MacAuthor mused maybe troubling that "Acts 2:38 MIGHT mean what it SAYS." Why would those not OF the world work so hard to say that what Christ in the prophets, Jesus, the Apostles and historic scholarship agrees with.

Reading further in Calvin, he said that no one can be Saved without a Supernatural action by God:
First, He gave us His WORD in the Scriptures
Second, He sent evangelists OUT to speak the Word.

He said that fanatics think that they can hear the Spirit (Word says Jesus in John 6:64) outside of the pages of Scripture. No one believes that they can be saved without the intervention of God. However, people who think that they God DRAWS people without "them all being TAUGHT of God" are not careful readers. Faith comes by hearing and we Call Upon the Name of the Lord by the MEANS of Baptism where BAPTISM SAVES US because we REQUEST A good conscience which is A holy spirit (ours, says this parallel and the Campbells and Walter Scott)

Those who gladly RECEIVED this INVITATION were baptized and did not question Jesus and proved that Jesus was the SENT agent to save them OUR of the World.

1 .) Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:
2 .) I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:
3 .) Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.
4 .) My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;
5 .) Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
6 .) And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:
7 .) Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.
8 .) Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?
9 .) I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
10 .) Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
11 .) And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.
12 .) Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,
13 .) At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
14 .) And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
15 .) And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
16 .) But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
17 .) Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
18 .) To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
19 .) Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
20 .) But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
21 .) For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
22 .) Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
23 .) That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Is it hard to "kick against the pricks?"
Wonder what happened to Ananias in this version of Paul's conversion? He was in those of ch 9 and ch 22.

Certainly, I'm aware of all of them. Consider Phillipians 6 again, the same area we were discussing

"[SUP]3 [/SUP]For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— [SUP]4 [/SUP]though I myself have reasons for such confidence.If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: [SUP]5 [/SUP]circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee;"

Then he continues to say:

"But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. [SUP]8 [/SUP]What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ"
Does Paul have more reasons to boast than anyone? How about Jesus the Messiah?

As to regards to the law, a Pharisee. I already showed how Jesus called Pharisees hypocrites, etc . Paul seems to regard Pharisees as the pick of the litter.

No, again Paul understood. If a Pharisee excluded a man because he was gay, by the righteousness of the law, that Pharisee is blameless. Nonetheless according to Christ, that Pharisee is persecuting the children of God by doing such, as all who does not gather, scatters abroad.

why don't we stay with the concept you put forth that Paul was a false Apostle and let Ananias worry about himself......

Is it hard to kick "against the pricks?"

How is it possible (other than desiring to cause confusion) that you are not able to understand Scripture? Well, I don't really have to ask...............Yes, Paul was a Pharisee............but after his conversion, he became a disciple of Jesus Christ..

Had you read the Scriptures I provided, you would give up this childish attempt to discredit the Apostleship of Paul.

Acts 26:4) My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;
5 .) Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

It reads "We who boast in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh". Then he continues to say, if anyone has reason to have confidence in the flesh, that he has more. He's not in any way placing himself above the Messiah, I don't see how you could possibly reach that conclusion. The entire subject there is to put no confidence in the flesh, but to put confidence in God.

You can well ignore "major differences" in the 3 accounts. There are many websites that point them out for anyone interested.

This term "kick against the pricks" is not original to the book of Acts. It is the Bacchae by Euripides written hundreds of years before. Readers of the time Acts was written were aware of that.

I don't think there is any doubt that you are a Christian website "troll," and it's only a matter of time before you slip up and reveal your true self...............

The "light" is an interesting thing in the 3 stories:

"a light" Acts 9:3

"a great light" Acts 22:6

"a light from heaven, brighter than the sun" Acts 22:13

I've read the story of the puppet, whose nose got longer each time he told an untruth.

2Corinth 11:14, "And no wonder for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light"

If you wish............I will put my trust in the Admins and Moderators to determine who is "trolling" here...........you or me.

A person joins a Christian Site.........then denounces the Apostle Paul as a false Apostle........to denounce Paul as a false Apostle is to denounce Jesus Christ for it was Jesus Christ who CHOSE Paul to be His messenger.........to deny Jesus Christ, God the Son, is to deny God the Father, the Great I Am.

You openly state that you are NOT a Christian.............

I believe the evidence is fairly clear............as for my challenging your comments.......? That is what Christians are suppose to do when false teachers try to deceive believers.........we are NOT to leave you unchallenged.

Your ignorance of Scripture is amazing.......................you don't understand the accounts in Acts...........and believe them to be "false" AND TO CRITICIZE THEM........you TURN TO Paul's word in his Epistle to the Corinthians?

(that right there is funny, I don't care who you are.........)

2nd Corinthians 11:10) As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
11 .) Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
12 .) But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
13 .) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 .) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 .) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

If I were you, I'd be concerned with WHO Paul was speaking of here..........just saying.........

So, basically, you are saying that Christianity is based on a lie from a liar we call Paul and that each time his lies got greater until one sees Paul as Satan disguising himself as an angel of light.

That the Spirit permitted the lies of Paul, who happens to be Satan in disguise, to be part of Scripture. And if I remember from our past conversation with you having a different username, you would say that the Spirit permitted God's holy word to be corrupted so that some can be misled to hell.

People such as yourself are the ones who are leading people to hell with your hate-filled sword slashing at the written word of God. You pit books of the Bible against each others as though it was all a conspiracy from God to fool them into believing a lie, with Paul being the principle liar. You have made God into a father of a great lie by your disgusting accusations.

Who is really the puppet here? The one who the Spirit granted to have his letters part of His Scriptures, or the one who a spirit granted to have his lies spread by?

Paul quoted Isaiah 28 warning about speaking in tongues (including musical instruments) quoted Isaiah inspired by the Spirit of Christ to refute the NOT COMMANDED king, kingdom, temple, amimal slaughter or the Priestly Class. He refutes the Jews claim that they were chosen by God in a spiritual sense and could not be lost:

The Levi tribe was Jacob-Cursed and God-Abandoned because of their fall from Grace at Mount Sinai: Israel lost their promise of the Land which became a killing field as God gave the kings in His anger to send them back to Babylon for captivity and death.

Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Isaiah 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to REST (Sabbath means REST opposite of worship);
.....and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
Isaiah 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little;
.....that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
Isaiah 28:14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
Isaiah 28:15 Because ye have said,
.....We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement;
.....when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us:
.....for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD,
.....Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation:
.....he that believeth shall not make haste.
Isaiah 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet:
.....and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
Isaiah 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled,
.....and your agreement with hell shall not stand;
.....when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:
Romans 10:13 for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
........... For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved.

SOME WAYS TO CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD OR CONFESS.

Isa 4:4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee, because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. Isa 55:5
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Isaiah 55:6
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:7
Zep 3:8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord,
........... until the day that I rise up to the prey:
........... for my determination is to gather the nations,
........... that I may assemble the kingdoms,
Zep 3:9 For then will
........... I turn to the people a pure language,
........... that they may all call upon the name of the Lord,
........... to serve him with one consent.

Romans 6:17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin,
........... ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;
Romans 6:18 and being made free from sin,
........... ye became servants of righteousness.

No lost person dead in sin can believe on Christ. The Gospel is hid to those who are lost and they believe not 2 Cor 4:3-4

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

So one must be saved in order to believe the Gospel !

Psa 80:18 does not chnage undo or conradict Paul hen Paul said one believes/confesses to obtain/unto salvation. Thre was no such thing in the OT to call upon the name of the Lord for remisson of sins. CHrist had not yet shed His blood so they cold not have complee remission of sins/justification.

In the context of Psalms 80, David is using a metaphor by calling Israel a vine, verse 8, a vine that God brought out of Egypt, planted, nourished and the vine grew abundantly, verses 9-11. Yet the vine became corrupt, it corrupted itself, turning against God where the vine was then being plucked, devoured, destroyed, (destroyed by other nations) verses 12-16 because it was without God's care. Verse 14 is the vine's plea for God to return to the vine, to nourish it, but the coruption of the vine kept God from doing it. Verse 18,19 they plea for God's nourishment so they can thrive as they did before but not until the vine turns to God will God turn back to nourish the vine.

There is nothing in Psa 80 that supports the Calvinistic idea that one has to be first regenerated by God before he can obey God. That idea puts fault on God. Israel was God's chosen people whom God nourished until they became backslidden and in v18 was praying for God to come back to nourish them but they had to first change before God.

Eph 2:5,6 man was dead is sin, he had no way to be perfectly justified before God But God through Christ provided a way for man to be perfectly justified before God. Those that obey the gospel bybeing water baptized, buried with Christ and "raised up with Him", verse 6, have their sins remitted > justified.
A Person cannot believe / call upon the Name of the Lord unless they are saved, made alive first Ps 80:18

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

Before that, we are dead in sin Eph 2:5

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)
