Why would Paul suffer so much pain getting the gospel to parts of the earth when it doesn't matter? The so called elect are going to be saved no matter what because of God's choosing. In fact, they were saved before the foundation of the world. Somehow they were in Christ, fell out of Christ when Adam sinned, and got back into Christ before they believed. Such nonsense...

23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

I wouldn't go through this. If I believed John Calvin's RCC fatalism, I wouldn't spend one moment preaching the gospel.
You are preaching the gospel falsely and for the wrong reasons. The apostles wrote letters addressed to the churches and to children of God telling them the instructions of God as to how they were to live their lives here on earth and revealing to them how that they have already been saved eternally by the sacrifice of Christ for their sins. God saves eternally, man does not. Man can instruct a disobedient child of God to repent and save "deliver" a soul from non-fellowship with God, which is a deliverance he will receive here on earth.

That's what Calvinists would like to believe, but it is the exact opposite. Calvinism makes a mockery of the Gospel of Grace, hence the God of all grace. The Gospel is all about grace, not about a false *sovereignty* which makes God responsible for all th sin and evil in this world, and makes God a liar.
God gives a free will for man to choose the way he wants to live his life here on earth, but God is sovereign in mans eternal destiny.

Nope. God is glorified in His mercy. It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance. Even you have Gods mercy extended to you. Know this that God will not strive with you forever. Today is the day of decision today is the day of salvation.

How did it become Calvinism vs. Arminianism? What was the debate before the 15,000's or so? Were people saved before they knew they were not saved?.... Is that question plain? ...lol
Calvinism is a view that God died only for some the "elect" (not the world) and Arminianism is basally the opposite side of the same coin. Calvinists believe the works will manifest if youre truly saved and arminianism is pretty up front about works playing a part in salvation. But we know it's not of works lest any man should boast. The Bible say Whosoever believeth shall not perish but have everlasting life. Thats why a child can get saved but as we grow up we twist and confuse the message of grace. A child can simply say I do bad things Jesus paid for it. That's faith

Read Ps 53:2-3 and you will know what God saw by his foreknowledge.
Exactly, they both start out the same but then where the big difference is that they come forth outright and say you have to do something; while the reformers do not come forth outright but very discreetly and cleverly disguised say you have to do something.

You have to do something to enjoy a fellowship with God. In that sense, there is a deliverance we receive here on earth by our good works, but not an eternal deliverance, we receive eternal deliverance by the grace of God and not by our works.

I will repeat myself again, Roger, anytime you see a scripture using the words, repent, accept, believe, submit etc. they have reference to the disobedient child of God, not to the natural man who does not think that he has anything to repent of. But I do appreciate you having enough concern for me to try to save me, but I assure you that I am already saved eternally, although I do need some deliverance in living my life here on earth, so if you could direct your efforts toward that aim, it would be appreciated.

Lets discuss scripture, because the scriptures prove themselves. Give me scriptures that I have cleverly disquised that says that man has to do something to "get eternal life".

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 1 Peter 1:22-23

It’s up to man to obey the Gospel to be cleansed of his sins and born again.

If you would re-read what I posted it say's nothing of the sort that you are disguising; It is the church itself that is disguising.

In order to keep these verses in context, Peter is talking to, verse 2, his elect children. In your referenced verses, his elect, who have already been regenerated and given the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and have obeyed the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT unto a genuine love of the brethren. The natural man does not have the Spirit until after he has been regenerated as explained in Eph 2, especially verse 5. Obeying the gospel does cleanse you, but you have added "and born again". The gospel does not even cleanse the natural man, because he cannot discern it. Would you like to try again?

God knew they would be saved before they where saved... Actually thousands of years before they even lived..,
Amen their names were written in the lambs book of life slain from the very foundation of the world. The six days that he did the work. It was not a after thought.

I added born again?

How can I add something to 1 Peter 1:22-23 that is already there?

But you are not reading the Bible. It does not say God saved you, it says God saved you WHEN YOU BELIEVED. That is proof that you need help on your reading skills. The NLT helps you understand those greek grammars that are not being translated in the more literal word equivalent translations.
it was going good until this post . I was almost thinking they would make it for the rest of the threads I have not yet seen just got done with thread 188 & 120 IS WHERE IT'S STARTS . i THINK i WILL GO ON AND SEE WHAT PEOPLE Are resulting in insults. I have a feeling nthey will be the usual ones. Then I will have this thread closed due to those who yet again talk about elect but talk like the unsaved.

You conveniently ignore the mountains of verses which support Calvin's view. I will list some here for you soon, others have already listed heaps of verses but you guys just ignore them or simple say they are out of context. How convenient

You can't just close one eye and ignore half of the Bible to accommodate your false view, that's why I said the reprobate will never understand the Bible. The truth is hidden from them, their fate is sealed. Only those who have the Holy Spirit can understand the truth of the Gospel
another insult calling people reprobate who do not agree with you surely will not cause them to agree with you.

Sorry about that! I omitted verse 23. This does not change the fact that Peter was talking to the elect, verse2, referring to them as having already been born again. The natural man, void of the Spirit, will not obey spiritual truths that he cannot discern.

That is fine, I have no problems with that, as well as myself I do not read his writings also.

Hmm.

How do calvinists explain away "God wants all men to be saved"? Pray for all men? Including kings etc.? I heard many calvinists say it just means all kinds of people because it tells us first to pray for kings and those in authority. But that is just ridicilous, it doesnt say ALL KINDS of men, it just says all men. And that is consistent with Jesus dying for "the world" and "Not for ours only, but the whole world" "not willing any perish" etc.
