A scenario if you will

A person repents and is forgiven of their sins and begins to walk with God

They pray, they study, they give and show others love in helping.

They live their life as close to the word as possible.....

Then you say God will reject them because He did NOT pre- elect them b4 He formed the world........?

I DO NOT see and understand MY God the Father,Jesus the Sin and the Holy Spirit this way.

I'm sorry but someone who believes this LIMITS God in ALL His powers of forgiveness!

Meh, falsely accused of lying yet again? Seems so familiar and it is baseless as per usual.

It's odd she jumped in here and right onto that same bandwagon like immediately...and has also gone after you @jackrosie, while certain others never get a rebuke? :sneaky:

Hello Just_Jo!

No! If a person believes and because of their faith are doing the things that you mentioned above, they were obviously chosen by God. Those whose names were not written in the book of life before the world began, are not going to believe, be praying, studying and displaying the fruits of the Spirit.

Lol, one posts Scripture showing undeniably that God predestines and chooses whom He wills, and the other posts Scripture only in attempt to negate said truth. "Here! I'll undo that truth with this verse over here! There! I neutralized that! Never liked that verse anyhow!!!"

Anti-Cals, pitting Scripture against Scripture, taking it out of context, melding verses together to rewrite the narrative, day in, day out.

Based on the rest of the scriptures: "Not willing that any = those who whose names were not written in the book of life before the world began, whom God predestined and foreknew.

You have to bring in all of the scriptures regarding this or any issue in order to come to a right interpretation. Therefore the "any" in the scripture refers to those whom God chose before the world began. By ignoring the other scriptures, you interpret "any" as all of mankind, which is false based on the other scriptures. How do you interpret the following:

"The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come." - Rev.17:8

"And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain." - Rev.13:8

It tells me that, before the world even began, some names were written in the book of life and some were not. And this is not based on man's efforts or desires, but on God's Sovereing will.

Hello preacher4truth!

Regarding the subject of God being the One who is doing the saving, I find that people don't like to hear this. It is the same with eternal punishment. Some don't like like the idea of it which overrides what God's word has to say about it. They prefer to put the reigns of salvation in the hands of mankind, as though it were free-for-all. Paul taught on this very subject in Romans 9, giving example after example, such as:

=======================================================================
Not only that, but Rebecca’s children were conceived by one man, our father Isaac. Yet before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad, in order that God’s plan of election might stand, not by works but by Him who calls, she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” So it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”d

What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Certainly not! For He says to Moses:

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,

and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

So then, it does not depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Therefore God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy, and He hardens whom He wants to harden.

One of you will say to me, “Then why does God still find fault? For who can resist His will?” But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, “Why did You make me like this?” Does not the potter have the right to make from the same lump of clay one vessel for special occasions and another for common use?

That's a logical fallacy.

They can't repent and be forgiven, not be converted and not be his.

Secondly, if a person has genuine repentance and faith, it came from God and they are marks of genuine conversion.

Sorry but your scenario is filled with errors in thought and logic, and is devoid of any biblical truth, nor does it reflect anyones beliefs or teachings on here. :)

After centuries of thumbing their collective noses at everyone, calvinists end up not having their names written in the Book of Life. That would be the ultimate irony.

No, I know I don't think that way. God did choose me and I do think that makes me special, so special in fact I want to obey Him and go do exactly what He commands and go out proclaiming His word to the whole world to save the others He is calling. I can say honestly that for the 6 years since He picked me up and gave me new life, I have not 1 time sat down and thought of myself as "more special" in worth over someone else, I don't believe that, everything God blessed me with He offers to ALL others, and it doesn't make me feel arrogance towards others, or better than them, it makes me feel compassion for them and makes me want to share the good news that God is calling them too.
Thanks, for the heart felt post brother. I do agree with much of what you say here and am glad that you say you do not feel like you are better than others and that you feel all he's blessed you with he offers to AlL others ( If I'm not misunderstanding you in that), and that you want to be and are a witness to others.

I guess, my main difference with Calvinism, is I do believe that God offers salvation to all others and that is the reason that I proclaim His word to the whole world....That what he's done for me, he can do for anyone, if they will accept him when he calls. Jesus says whosoever will let him come and this is the hope that I witness to others. God loved them so much that He sent his only begotten Son to die upon a cross that whosoever will believe upon him shall not perish but have everlasting. God is love and is not willing that any should perish, but that all come to repentance. To me this is the message of good news and hope for all men.
