Maybe Jesus went to hell to show the lost that he had power over death , I am not to sure...

Jesus said plenty about hell , gave us many warnings , I cannot recall Him ever saying there is a chance of coming back from there , surely He would of said this...

Jesus did say, fear Him Who could destroy both body and soul in hell.

So it would seem hell is where the unbelievers meet their end,
and then hell is thrown into the Lake of Fire. Death is the last
enemy to be overcome, though Christ has already overcome it :)

I understand that most believe that hell is final and once we die, it's over but...... why would the Father give Jesus Christ the keys to Hell/Hades?

Only Jesus Christ can come and go freely in and out of Hell/Hades......why would He?

Perhaps there are lost souls that can still be saved even from the depths of Hell/Hades...... God's ways are higher than ours.....and His love is so much greater! It would not surprise me in the slightest if Jesus Christ is pulling repentant souls out of the depths of Hell/Hades.

No one has the keys to Hell/Hades except Jesus Christ and He is the ONLY Savior, no one comes to the Father but through Jesus Christ.
because IF Jesus did not defeat Hell and the grave we would all have that place as our final destination.

We have passed from death unto life Through the Lord Jesus if you did not come by the way HE provided you are a robber and a thef

those who are alive today and have not died have the opportunity for salvation once one dies without Christ the word says they are lost.

Our God is not the God of the dead but of the Living. There is no death in our Eternal God.

Essence is what we are. Consciousness is our perceiving.
Paul was caught up to the third heaven and saw and understood many things.... when he wrote to the believers at Thessalonica, he described our whole being as follows:

1 Thessalonians 5:23 King James Version (KJV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul does not speak of "essence" or consciousness but, he does mention his "conscience":

Acts 24:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.

Romans 9:1 King James Version (KJV)
9 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

Our "conscience" is our heart....it knows when we have sinned against God, others, or even ourselves. God has written His law upon the tablets of our heart. We want God to create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us.

God's Holy Spirit awakens our spirit and we become aware of God's presence and are able to engage God with our spiritual senses (see, smell, hear, taste, touch) - see dreams, visions, hear God's voice, smell Him, taste Him, touch Him while we are on the Earth.

Our soul is made up of our mind, will and emotions. It needs to be restored with the Word and Holy Spirit of God. Our minds are to be filled with the knowledge and wisdom of God, our emotions are to line up with God's emotions (love what God loves, hate what God hates, etc.), and our will becomes able to know, understand, recognize, love, choose and do the perfect will of God.

It's a process to restore the soul. God is patient. We are learning to walk by the Spirit so we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh......some days are better than others but, we get back up and keep walking, eventually we can run and not be weary, walk and not faint.....(y)

Our body will be redeemed when it is resurrected. Right now it is a corruptible seed that will be sown in the Earth and raised incorruptible - a new body full of light.

Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY to Salvation, His Blood takes our sins away and His Body gives us the Righteousness of God.

@CS1 - But, Hell gives up the dead and they appear before the Great White Throne of Judgment..... Why appear if they are already judged and it is final? Why not just throw them immediately into the Lake of Fire?

The false prophet and anti-christ are thrown immediately into the Lake of Fire alive - they don't even get to go to Hell/Hades.

Satan gets bound in a bottomless pit for 1,000 years then, he gets loosed and deceives and then at the Great White Throne he is thrown immediately in the Lake of Fire but, all the others appear and have their books opened and read and God is still looking to see if any are in the Book of Life......... whoever is not in the book of life is thrown into the Lake of Fire.

Revelation 20:11-14 King James Version (KJV)
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

It just wouldn't surprise me, if Jesus Christ is pulling lost souls out of Hell even as we speak.(y)

You do know Christians will not be at the Great White Throne Judgement? Only the unsaved.

Well, the Lamb's Wife - the New Jerusalem is in heaven and comes down to earth after the great white throne judgment but, consider the timeframe....

As the Lamb's Bride, we're on the Earth with Christ during His 1,000 year reign. We know Satan is bound. We also know human children are being born and living very long lives - if a person dies at 100 years old it is as if a child died....

So, this is what is going on on the Earth but, what is going on in Hell? Satan is bound, Jesus Christ has the keys of Hell and Death......

We know that Jesus Christ preached to the spirits that were in prison.....

CS1 - we really don't know and I'm not claiming to know but, what would LOVE do? Jesus Christ died for us WHILE we were sinners.......seems to me He'd even go down into Hell for us if we cried for Him.

If for any reason, I end up in Hell, I'm calling on the Name of Jesus Christ until I see a great white throne and a lake of fire! Keep calling on the Name of Jesus until EVERYTHING is over! lol! :giggle::love:(y)

Is hell not the place for the unsaved , until they are brought to The Great White Throne to be judged by God ?
Then they will be thrown into the Lake of fire for all eternity...
While we are alive on this earth , today is the day of Salvation , not when we die , it is to late then...

The Lord Jesus Has finished all there is to be done for the complete salvation of all past present and future. However, the context of the Great White throne Judgment and the Judgement Seat of Christ is different.

One is being judged for the rejection of Christ and being shown their action that a Righteous Judge is ruling on your sins.

The Judgement Seat of Christ is for the Saint who will be judged for the works for the Kingdom of God after being saved.

If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior there is no possible way you would end up in Hell the Word of God teaches that authoritatively.

Can i show you bible verses to dispute your view.
You don't need to believe, but the bible is the source of truth.
2Th 2:10 ..... because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

How did humans get here in the first place? God made us from dust in the beginning.
“The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7).

When we die.....
“Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7).
The body turns to dust again, and the spirit goes back to God, who gave it. The spirit of every person who dies—whether saved or unsaved—returns to God at death.

The Spirit is not a living being separate from the body. It is the breath of life.
“The body without the spirit is dead” (James 2:26).
“The spirit of God is in my nostrils” (Job 27:3 KJV).
The spirit that returns to God at death is the breath of life. Nowhere in all of God’s book does the “spirit” have any life, wisdom, or feeling after a person dies. It is the “breath of life” and nothing more.

The soul is made up of 2 parts
“The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7 KJV).
A soul is a living being. A soul is always a combination of two things: body plus breath. A soul cannot exist unless body and breath are combined. God’s Word teaches that we are souls—not that we have souls.

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20 KJV).
“Every living soul died in the sea” (Revelation 16:3 KJV).
According to God’s Word, souls do die! We are souls, and souls die. Man is mortal (Job 4:17).
Only God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:15, 16). The concept of an undying, immortal soul is not found in the Bible, which teaches that souls are subject to death.

I can give many more verses to explain these things above and it is hard to except when you are used to believing that the spirit or our soul is separate from the body, but our body without the spirit is dead. God made us that way. New age spiritualism has corrupted the teachings of the bible.

38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
