the Sermon on the Mount is the gold standard that we should all strive for every day. but we will fall short of this standard at times. this is reality. anyone ( peter) who thinks we can live up to this every hour of every day is grossly self-deceived.
No. No. No. And a thousand times No. The Sermon on the Mount is meant to bury you. To show you the udder futility of your own efforts. The Christian life is not one of striving, but of resting. Resting in the One who through that Sermon was pointing you to Himself as your only hope.

The belief in total inability creates this concept of hyper- or super-law in which nothing is possible. Hyper grace says it's the righteousness of GOD, yet it can't do righteousness. Utter madness that flees to the shadows of darkness to do nothing but imagine that it is doing GOD's will.

There actually are differences. All unrighteousness is sin, but there is sin unto death and there is sin that another brother can pray for and it will be forgiven. SO the religious lie is that all sin is the same.
No, the religious lie is that some sins are worse than others. Its how you excuse your own sin by comparing yourself to another and concluding your sin is somehow less significant than theirs. There are different consequences for us in this life for different sins, including some sins that will physically kill us. But there is no difference from God's POV. The wages of sin is death. That's all sin.

See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.
Luke 11:35

Now it sounds to me that people expect darkness within them and are prepared
to do nothing about, but just say, you over there, you have darkness within you
to so I am ok, that is how things are, just give up hope of having light or being
light, that is just hypocracy.
So you have the 12 hour light in you? :)

The belief in man's supposed "ability" is called humanism.

o.k I see what you are saying to a point. but what I was getting at was this: telling a lie or robbing a store are both sins. so for someone who lies to look at the robber and say" well, I am blameless because I do not rob is double-talk. condem the robber for robbing, condem yourself for lying, both of you repent and ask for forgiveness, this is the right way.
I'm sure that's what Peter is talking about.

I don't think peter knows what peter is talking about, that is why I respond to him strongly, to attempt to establish some points of reference.

I am normally 100% with you, but as believers we are supposed to be concerned with and trying to live a holy lifestyle. 1st and 2nd Peter very clearly outline this.

as wrong as legalism is, we have to be careful as universalism is equally as wrong.

God alone is Holy. You can't live a holy life by trying, that is the whole point of Jesus sermon. You can only do so by resting in the Holy One, Jesus Christ.

God has given us Christ, who is more than able.
The difference between 1) the panentheist/mystic/gnostic view and 2) the truth:

  1. GOD infuses us with Christ himself in a mysterious mutual indwelling that does the will of GOD through us.
  2. GOD gives us a new heart and spirit that enables us to follow Christ and do his will.

God doesn't want your ability, only your availability.

In other words, since believers can't do anything righteous (even though they're the righteousness of GOD), doing GOD's will becomes not doing anything .

The ONLY sin unto death is rejecting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Sins have NO effect on our Salvation. Sins do have effect on the Rewards we will receive in Heaven.

1 John 1:7
[SUP]7 [/SUP]but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Its the Blood Jesus shed on the Cross that cleanses us from ALL sins. Every sin we have done and every sin we will do has already been cleansed from us. ALL past, present, and future sins have been washed clean.

Yes we still are sinners BUT we are not to sin willingly.

Most of what Peter and HeRoseFromTheDead are teaching are Doctrines from the Catholic Church. The problem is when you are so concerned about what sins you have done you have no time left to grow in the Lord. You are too busy trying to keep yourself clean that you lose track of what we really need to be doing.

Peter and HeRoseFromTheDead put way too much emphasis on not sinning. We have been washed clean from all our sins, past, present, and future!

You need to move on Peter. You really need to spend more time walking with the Lord and less time trying to cleanse yourself of your sins. This is what is holding back a lot of people from growing in the Lord.

2 Timothy 2:14-17
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. [SUP]16 [/SUP]But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, [SUP]17 [/SUP]and their talk will spread like gangrene.

Your righteousness, and your doing, will never amount to anything more than a stinkin' pile of poop.

i'm sorry, I have to respectfully dis-agree with you here. we are supposed to a holy lifestyle. 1st and 2nd Peter make this clear. now, while we will never be 100% holy, this does not mean that we are not to try. I believe in the finished work of Christ, I also believe that we will have changed lives as a result of salvation, santifacation that is!

Which is all based on the work of Christ in us. But, you are certainly free to try.
