Just going to deal with this, because it is a perfect example of 2 things:

1. Why we need to read every word of the Bible, not just a chapter or passage!

2. Why you need to know hermeneutics, or how to interpret the Bible. You obviously don't know that:

Hermeneutics= Bible interpretation

Every line from the Bible you have quoted and then interpreted & explained, is hermeneutics.

In this case, you actually made some progress away from your faulty eisegesis and bad interpretations. You stopped quoting one proof text, and said to read the whole chapter! Bravo!

However, you really do need to read all of Isaiah to find out what it is about. From chapter 1, it is the prophet Isaiah calling to the people, to tell them how sinful they are. Isaiah 1 describes this from Start to finish.

"Woe to the sinful nation,
a people whose guilt is great,
a brood of evildoers,
children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the Lord;
they have spurned the Holy Oneof Israel
and turned their backs on him." Isa. 1:4

God uses Isaiah to tell the nation of Israel that they are an evil, disobedient and wretched people. Isaiah tries to warn Israel, and point them back to righteousness and serving God. And Isaiah is Not exempt from this.

"Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Isaiah 6:5-7

Isaiah realizes he is also sinful, and the seraphim cleanses him with a burning coal. Every single chapter of Isaiah, and for that matter, all the prophets, is a warning about sin. Even if a chapter doesn't use those words, it is the theme and central binding idea of the book.

Isaiah 53 is a prophecy describing how Jesus will suffer in our place.

"5 He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds,
crushed because of our sins;
he endured punishment that made us well;
because of his wounds we have been healed." Isaiah 53:5.

This famous proof text of Word Faith people is about what?? About how our rebellious deeds and sins made Jesus take our punishment on the cross, to heal our sin sickness, the topic of all of Isaiah.

This chapter is NOT about us! It is not about perfect healing when you pump up your faith enough, that a puny God is forced to do your bidding and answer your prayer for healing!

Instead, it is about a sovereign God who was whipped and died on the cross to take our place so we might have eternal life.

It really is heinous to take the obvious meaning which is found in all of Isaiah, and all the Bible, and take a couple verses and claim it is about healing. Well, it is about healing our sins, which have broken and damaged us.

Finally this is the second last verse of Isaiah 53, where the purpose of the chapter, the book of Isaiah and the Bible explain it.

"Having suffered, he will reflect on his work,
he will be satisfied when he understands what he has done.
“My servant will acquit many,
for he carried their sins." Isa 53:11

Once again it is about how Jesus acquitted us of our sins! Nothing to do with physical healing, but spiritual healing for our many sins.

I challenge you to read the whole Bible, so you can find out that you have been led astray! Certainly read all of Isaiah and see what it is about. You will quickly find it is not about physical healing, but healing from our sins, through Jesus' coming sacrifice on the cross.

And since you are using bad hermeneutics, find out how to do it correctly, instead of the mess you make of the Bible.

Don't bother sending me another one of those Y/M answers. I know the Bible much better than you, studied Word Faith starting in the 1980's, and totally rejected it as a false and damaging doctrine. You don't even read Greek or Hebrew, there is nothing you can do to convince me to go back to a heresy I rejected 30 years ago!
Dang Angela, just straight up comes iin and sets the record straight no if and's or butts. How have you been btw?[/QUOTE]
Lofty talks about hermeneutics without a simple faith in the atonement to heal is apostasy wrt healing!!

He actually hasn't returned to this thread in a bit, I won't lie I was interested to see how he would respond to Angela. Though I wouldn't recommend him trying to win any debate with her

So Sudakar, before berating all of us for our lack of faith, or shall I say rather, please regale us with all of these "impossible" feats you've done by the Spirit of Christ. I suspect that you've never had a cold or a toothache for decades. If you have raised any dead people don't hesitate to mention those as well!
Proclaiming atonement in Isaiah 53:4 isn't berating? You seem frustrated.

Christ's atonement is central to christian life. Denying it isn't christian.
Where have I ever denied the atonement? It is indeed central to our faith. However, healing is NOT part of the atonement.

Even the very definition of Atonement does NOT include healing!

Definition of atonement. 1 : reparation for an offense or injury : satisfaction a story of sin and atonement He wanted to find a way to make atonement for his sins. 2 : the reconciliation of God and humankind through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.
Merrium-Webster

I think you will agree that all people who are given faith in Christ- his life, death and resurrection are saved. Salvation is 100% part of the atonement!

But healing is not! Not everyone who prays to be healed is healed. In fact, MOST people who pray for healing are not healed. And it is NOT that they don't have enough faith or focus on Jesus enough. Everyone on earth is going to die, until Jesus returns. Most die from sickness, although many die in accidents, and some by violence or by their own hand. But, sickness and death, a result of the Fall, won't end till Jesus returns!

So, no one who comes to Jesus by faith is unsaved. If they truly repent and believe, they are saved by the atonement. There is no need to study of verses on salvation, no pumping up faith, anointing with oil, or calling for the elders. They are ALL saved by God.

But most people who come to Jesus for healing, are not healed. It is a prayer that God often does not answer. He has his reasons, just as he did with Job. (Although Job was restored!) so coming to God in faith for healing, (as I did for years!) is not automatic and certainly not part of the atonement.

One is saved by grace through faith. One is not necessarily healed by grace through faith.

Again, your knowledge of the Bible is limited and erroneous. You have a nasty, accusative temper, which you have displayed over and over. You really have not developed the fruits of the Spirit. Your character does not reflect Christ, who we are being transformed into his image, also by faith and the Holy Spirit. You have missed the basic message of the Bible/which is eternal life, not eternal and perfect healing.

You have completely wrong theology on healing, and are very immature in your walk with God. Look to him to be sanctified, and stop pushing your heretical doctrine of perfect healing. It is a hurtful unreal doctrine for millions of disabled and sick people, as well as the elderly, who slowly lose most of their capacity as they get closer to death. And yes, you have insulted me personally. I will forgive you, because of your appalling ignorance of the Bible and theology, but I will not stand by and let you insult and hurt millions and millions of people around the world, who love Jesus with their whole heart, but are not healed! This is why I brought up your character! You simply have no compassion, just a heart obsessed with proving your heresy correct, when it is a lie! You are clinging to a single wrong doctrine, instead of growing into the image of Christ! I pray God will show you the truth, and you will come to understand that God has so much for you than mere earthly treasures, (like health and wealth!) but instead, the depth of the love of Christ.

Even healing is called by Jesus as salvation (Mathew 9:22).

Healing is part of atonement (Isaiah 53:4 & Mathew 8:17).

Prayer doesn't bring healing. Faith in Christ's atonement brings healing.

Don't look to christians who haven't been healed. Look to Jesus with faith.

Little faith has consequences (Mathew 17:20). Don't justify little faith.

Don't look to death, suffer sicknesses & forsake faith in Christ's atonement to heal. God's word doesn't justify sickness because everyone dies.

If suffering was godly, God would've created humans with sickness.

You weren't healed because you didn't approach God with faith in Christ's atonement. Without faith it's impossible to please God.

Your self-appreciated good character doesn't please God. Faith does.

Love for Jesus doesn't heal. Faith in Him does.

You seem to teach christians to hate earthly treasures but yet you haven't sold all your possessions and given to the poor!!

The OP is about Christ's mediatorship for healing from God. But many seem to do away with it.

You seem on the fringe of this thinking, healing comes in many ways even through medication and doctors.

If Christs atonement covers the physical body then we could stay immortal on this earth since none would die from disease.
The body still ages so obviously the atonement does not cover the physical body, having stated the the deliverance from the bondage of sin can have a positive impact on one's health.

For this loveless writings you should apologize to everybody you hurt. And better to leave this Chatroom. For what reason you are here? You call yourself a believe?
Read 1.Cor. 13, then you will find out what means faith without love!

God does everything to glorify Christ through Christ's atonement. But the unsaved don't believe it though they are healed by God. If christians imitate the unsaved, God isn't pleased because without faith in Christ's atonement God isn't pleased.

Those in Hebrews 11 not only chose temporal blessings but also refused temporal blessings but with faith. Thus the issue is faith not the choice to suffer sicknesses.

With all due respect you did not reply to the part about the body aging?

How does that work with the issue of faith and trusting God for healing.. do we trust Him to stop the slow decline/aging of our physical bodies as well?

Aging is not disease or sickness.
None of the apostles died of disease.
He bore our sin sickness and sorrow on the cross.

I have never seen any prayer in the nt or in my experience where old age was to be prayed against.
Nor did Jesus ever pray against old age,or mortality.
The argument that "well,if sickness is defeated, nobody would die,"is ridiculous.

Immortality comes after death. Death is a doorway, not some dilemma against the work of the cross.(healing)

Healing is part of the new covenant.
It belongs to us.

Healing is the children's bread.

To remove that dynamic, is to remove the work of Jesus and the authenticity of who Jesus is.

How could healing as part of the new covenant be missed?????

You do realize no one dies of old age... people die of disease in their old age.
The healing against disease means that the cells in the body would be eternally able to fight off disease ... that is not reality.

You betray your intentions to wickedly frustrate people on the board.
Furthermore you berate Christians on this board claiming that only you have faith and you deny to others the healing that God has promised, but covet it and dispense it only to whom you yourself deem worthy.

Denying Christ's atonement to heal is the greatest wickedness.
