Is it just me or does adding 'ism' at the end of a word or 'movement' automatically give it a negative connotation?

Maybe it's because whenever you see a thread of ism's or movements, people are usually speaking against it? :confused:

What is going on is that the forum does not have a mechanism to screen out the arrogant, the uninformed, the hostile, or the unbelieving. That is why many of us are not as sweet and loving as you are (I intend that as a very sincere compliment).

cubism, pointalism, realism, truism, communalism, and purism don't seem to be inherently negative, IMO.
