Mom and I were talking about him earlier today. She thought he had already passed away.

I had a cousin who went to Lipscomb back when he was big there. He really messed her up. Her and her family has now converted to Catholicism.
Thats sad, and the thing is he was such a brilliant guy. Just think what he could be doing for the church now in a positive way. I used to attend debates he had with various denominational preachers and he would just tear them up.

Isn't he a little on the liberal side? I do believe he supports the sinners prayer doesn't he? Which isn't in scripture.
I don't know,I have never read any of his books or that. (I just looked up what denom he was) :p

Miriam wasn't attending the Synagogue which was ADDED after the fall at Mount Sinai.

Don't forget that God slapped Miriam with a dose of leprosy when she claimed that she was a PROPHET and therefore speaking for God. We don't hear much about her. In fact, Miriam would have been considered a "princess" and therefore automatically a Prophetess of Hathor as the female part of Apis the golden calf at Mount Sinai.

Ex 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand;
and all the women WENT OUT after her with timbrels and with dances
.

Thus saith the Law:

Here is what Miriam really did:
Yaca
(h3318) yaw-tsaw'; a prim. root; to go (causat. bring) out, in a great variety of applications, lit. and fig... break out, ..be condemned, departure), draw forth, escape, exact, fail, fall (out), fetch forth (out), get away.. lead out, pluck out, proceed, pull out,

And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.Ge.4:16
interestingly enough, this is the same word:

When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language
(Psalm 114:1)

would you say Israel sinned in leaving Egypt?

They definitely didn't sin in leaving as it was God who led them out.

actually, reading Numbers 12, God didn't punish Miriam for "claiming to be a prophetess" -- He punished her for speaking against Moses.
(not for dancing and praising God with timbrels and song either, goodness, how did God miss that?).

Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.
(Numbers 12:1-2)

the Lord didn't rebuke her for prophesying - or playing a tambourine - He rebuked her and Aaron for gossiping about Moses' Cushite wife, and reprimanded her saying that Moses was greater than prophets, because He spoke face-to-face with Moses, but not so with Aaron or Miriam.

he said, “Listen to my words:
“When there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions,
I speak to them in dreams.
But this is not true of my servant Moses;
he is faithful in all my house.
With him I speak face to face,
clearly and not in riddles;
he sees the form of the Lord.
Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”

(Numbers 12:6-8)

the Word of God calls her a prophet in Exodus 15:20, and here in Numbers God doesn't contradict it. you are right though that it is more convenient for your argument if Miriam is demonized, since she praised God with a tambourine in her hand.

Same here. I really did question Sarah's judgment in pronouncing Max Lucado as some kind of demon! I'm seeing my optometrist on Friday but I think it was more of a tired mistake or maybe my dyslexia was playing up. :p

I do show Christian compassion and understanding. I was not rude. I was point blank in the truth of the Word of God the Bible when it refers to the Gifts of the Holy Spirit which are strong and active to this day. As well as how those individuals who deny that should study their Bible and learn the truth.

I wonder how many times Jesus and the apostles said "get it through your brain!!!"
As a matter of fact many people have read their bible and have found evidence of the cessation of gifts. You can disagree. Makes no difference to me, but this is also a matter of interpretation. This is also not a salvation issue. It normally turns into a hateful debate when people are accused of not having faith if they have no "gifts". Comments like that is a condemnation no one has the authority to give but God

Care to share this evidence?

What I missed was the Scripture backing of what you're saying. I think if you're going to say "there's biblical evidence", you should probably cite it. That's not debate, that's called adding credibility to a statement.
