I have seen arguements all over the internet, in real life over this subject, it is a controversial debate and it has caused even peoples friendships to break up!. The end line is does it really matter if you believe in creationism or evolution? Does the bible teach evolution? I would say no! But what do you think? By the way i am not a Christian!

There is no "Vs." involved. For there to be a "vs." that would require a valid alternative. ;)

why is it so impossible for God to have created evolution as the means for life to progress toward divine realization?

Evolution is a theory, they want us to believe that it is a fact (as well as creation was just an accident and not a well thought out design.)

I think the reason everyone gets hyper on the subject is that the Evolutionists are trying to convert the Christians and the Christians are trying to convert the evolutionists and neither wants to convert to the other faith.

It is not impossible, nothing is impossible. But if we are talking about the bible here and what Christians believe - Then no. According to Christians the Bible supports a full creation, not evolution.

The thing about evolution is everything came about by chance with no intelligence behind it.

So evolution could bring about humans by chance with no intelligence, and also provide them with food, clothing, and shelter, give them the right conditions on earth to live, give them eyes to see, ears to hear, nose to smell, touch, taste buds to taste the food, which evolution by chance happened to make food taste good, and put all of those senses and body parts all in the right place for best looks and functioning, give us pleasure when we are with our mate, put everything in an orderly fashion, multitudes of different animals, plants, trees, water life, birds, insects, and other things, give us intelligence, and many other things.

And all these things just happen to be all by chance.

I do not buy it.It takes more faith to believe in evolution than a God created everything.

Jesus said with God nothing is impossible. So for people who believe God brought about things by evolution,so they can hold unto their belief in Christianity, but believe in evolution because they think it cannot be refuted. Why would God who can create things outright as a whole and not evolution, use evolution to bring things about, and then wait for billions of years to have fellowship with man, when He can start right away, and evolution does not have any meaning to bring about man, when God can create them outright and start having fellowship right away.

It would be like us wanting to have a chair to sit down on,but making it a little at a time that lasted for 50 years, and then sitting down, when we could make it in one hour and then sit down, and what is the purpose and benefit of us making it for 50 years, when we want to sit down now.

God is not going to use evolution to create things, for what is the purpose and benefit of that, when God wants fellowship right away and not wait, and God can create things right out as a whole for nothing is impossible with God.

Evolution with it's everything came about by chance with no intelligence behind it,seems absurd when you look at the diversity and order of things, and God created everything by evolution does not make sense, for God would not want to wait to have fellowship with man, when He can create man as a whole and have fellowship right away.

I know that may be the "mainstream" taught Darwinian version of evolution. But intelligent theories of evolution have been suggested.

Alfred Wallace the co-discoverer of natural selection, started off as a Darwinist but later opposed Darwins theory and put forward his own evolutionary theory called "Intelligent Evolution". Basically he came to the conclusion that strictly material science could not explain the human spirit or consciousness and there has to be some spiritual or non material explanation to how these things arise.

I wrote about Alfred Wallace on many of the wikipedia articles and his theory of "Intelligent Evolution" as opposed to Darwins theory.

Anyway here is what i wrote, here is a brief summary:

Later in his life, Wallace was advocate of spiritualism and believed in a non-material origin for the higher mental faculties of humans, he believed that evolution suggested that the universe had a purpose, and that certain aspects of living organisms are not be explainable in terms of purely materialistic processes, in a 1909 magazine article entitled The World of Life, which he later expanded into a book of the same name. Wallace argued in his 1911 book World of life for a spiritual approach to evolution and described evolution as “creative power, directive mind and ultimate purpose”. Wallace believed natural selection could not explain intelligence or morality in the human being so suggested that non-material spiritual forces accounted for these. Wallace believed the spiritual nature of man could not of come about by natural selection alone, the origins of the spiritual nature must originate “in the unseen universe of spirit”.

If you put 10 different evolutionist in a room and ask each of them the origan of man and a time frame you will get 10 different answers. And they call themselves Intelligent? Lets say, just for aurguments sake that the big bang theory, which comes from all this, is true. Have you ever seen a big bang, comminly known as an Explossion? Pieces fly everywhere! So, if this theory, and that is what it is, is true, please tell me WHO put all the peaces together in the universe to make them functional? Hmmmm? That would be GOD! I'm sorry but my ancestors did not come from apes and they did not crawl out of the oceans. He, Adam was created by God from the dust of the Earth, that God created, and then God breathed the Breath of Life into him! He then created Eve from Adam! Oh and and by the way, God SPOKE and it happened! If you choose not to believe in creation, thats ok. Darwin refused it, but I would be willing to bet that if God were to give him a second chance he would change his story. He would believe and teach God Created the Heavens and the Earth, along with Man, and every living thing on this earth.

Just Sayin :)

Mrdll - Yes many evolutionists have different answers. But so do creationists. The biggest debate is between young earth creationists who accept the earth as 6,000 years old or old earth creationists who claim the earth is billions of years old. Of course there are other types of creation aswell. There are creationists who believe in one creation event and others who believe there have been millions of creation events on earth. Which for example do you support?

All is simply summed up in what one chooses.
Faith or flesh?
I choose faith, that which is God's creation.
Flesh, looks to the mind, which has proven wrong many times. :)
Personally, the benifits of faith, out weigh the mind by volumes. :)

In Jesus, God bless.

The bible does not teach Evolution, Abiogenesis, Gravitational theory, Physics, Math, Geology and a whole host of other concepts. That does not mean that one should stop figuring out how the world works.

In the scientific community there isn't a controversy about evolution vs creationism, that is something that young earth creationists have come up with because they see evolution, abiogenesis, geology and other studies directly contradicts the bible if you read it as literal truth.

The reasons for evolution specifically to be targeted may be many, chiefly among them is that a lot of people doesn't really understand how it works.

Some say that evolution is a fact, some say it is a theory, while it is justifiable to say that it is both.

A scientific theory is a tested and testable theory, undisproven, that is currently the best model we have to explain observed fact. Theory of evolution, theory of gravit and so on. The theory is the model that best explains the fact. (gravity and evolution are both facts and theories).

Theory in daily speech is used as "a guess", but in science it isn't. In science we use "hypothesis" about an educated guess, but a theory is something that has been tested and found evidence for.

A lot of people doesn't know that speciation, which is what happens when a species evolve to the point that it is classified as another species than what it originated from, has been observed both in the lab and in nature. People who say it hasn't have either not read into the fact, or are intentionally or unintentionally misleading/lying.

Penicillin is manufactured through use of evolution. Hadn't evolution been a fact, then we couldn't manufacture it.

I'm not an expert on biology, but my sister is doing her doctorate on advanced microbiology and have been very helpful to me when it comes to these questions.

If you take the bible as the absolute literal word of god, not to be interpreted in any way, then you have to reject science, common knowledge and plain facts.

Evolution started off on the premise that there is no God. If you start off that way, then you have to explain the complexity and vastness of the universe. Evolutionists teach that at some point in time something came from nothing with no intelligent designer. They say that nothing decided to explode itself into something with no help from God. And it is quite fasle to say that one species evolved from another. There are changes within certain speicies that change cetain physical characteristics. Take dogs for example; there are dogs as small as tea cups and ones vastly larger, but they are all still dogs. I don't deny that God changes DNA and other things to change physical apperances of some animals, but they are still of the same species. They say we evolved from apes, but why are apes still around??? Why are they not evolving??? I hear people say evolution is proved by the fact that the flu virus changes every season into a resistant strain. That may be true, but it's still a flu virus.
Why are there no fossils of these intermediate changing creatures of one species into another? Because it's not true!!!! God made everything after its own kind. Why would Jesus, who the Bible says created this universe, need to use eons of time to do it??? How long did it take him to change the six stone jars of water into the finest wine???
God bless!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++ for this post!!!!!! Excellent.

God created man at the beginning and is steering all of history toward our future. If we believe in evolution, then we don't believe that Adam was the first human created. We have to believe that some little cell came crawling out of the ocean, and then over eons of time was the source of all species of human, animal and plant life. Man just happened to come along by chance instead of design. I don't know how anyone can look at this vast universe with is complexity and precision (in fact, the word universe means unity in diversity) and think that it just decided to make itself!!!! It boggles the mind.
God bless!!!!

Why? Jesus Christ turned a few loaves and fishes into enough for thousands to eat. It didn't take Him millions of years to accomplish this supernatural feat, but milliseconds.

Remember, satan used "the serpent" of the natural world to circumvent God's truth in man. Evolution is an extension of the lie in Eden, full stop.

Lazarus was raised from the dead. Jesus raised from the dead. You cannot serve both God and science. Science denies all supernatural, full stop.

What many of you fail to realize is that evolution is a THEORY. It is likely that you do not understand what a scientific theory is in the event you refute evolution. Maybe you have heard of gravity? That's based on a theory. Perhaps you have heard of relativity? That's a theory too. So do you disagree and refute gravity and relativity? Evolution is accepted amongst the scientific community to such a degree you won't find many individuals even willing to debate its supposed downfalls. Evolution happened and continues, end of story.

Evolution is a fact because the majority of scientists say it is??? I wouldn't want to stand on that foundation. You should have also added that the majority of secular scientists are atheists and therefore accept the theory of evolution as fact. As i've said, if you start with the premise that there is no God, then of course they accept an alternative explanation of the origins of everything, they have to!!!! There are many scientists that are Christian and who convincingly refute the theory of evolution.
As I've also said, where are all of these missing links? These intermediate forms of life from ape to man? There are none.
Check out some of the Christian scientific sites on the web that discuss creation. The institute for creation science is one.
God bless!!!!

None? No offense, but you need to do some reading.

Why do people try to answer science with a theology/philosophy book?

The Bible doesn't have any scientific backing to it. The Bible didn't try to explain chemistry, or math or anything else (as pointed out earlier).

Bottom line is, it is not a science manual. It is a Theology Manual.

And I don't believe it needs to be a scientific text. You don't have to dismiss science and progress to be religious.

God created man in his image. The same cant be said for animals. So we could not have evolved from monkeys because they are not in Gods image. Evolution is a very flawed theory that wont hold up under scrutiny.
