By our works? Please explain these "works" we do
So how do you reply to those people you have met who were once catholics and who have come to know the Christ of the Bible?

Do you think an alcoholic who has been freed from getting drunk should continue to hang out in bars with alcohol the focus and drunks everywhere you turn?

that they went from bad to worse (since no person who has true faith in God to save them completely would go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum and go to catholicism. that would be like a christian in Pauls day going to judaism.

like I have said many times, if I believed salvation could only be paid for by my actions, my church and my religion, I would be either Jewish or roman catholic. they have the most works, and most ways to get there (just in case one of the other ways did not work)

No, to both questions. There are many things about the Catholic church that I don't agree with. I pray to the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
Why the allegiance to the religion that you see so many things wrong?

Do participate in the
Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist? Would you refer to the Pope as Holy Father if you were to meet him?

I agree. But Ill add: The JW,SDA, and LDS have matching characteristics as far as works is concerned. If you really want to work, you may as well do as the JW do ! They have converted many a biblically ignorant housewife over the yrs! Perhaps the LDS appeals to you moreso? They must do mission work and their secret temple work praying for the dead. And the bonus! You get to be a god one day ! You may like the crazy mentally ill false prophetess variety ; Ellen G White may be up your alley!!

Admittedly, these three vary in their heresy but they are akin to RC in the works dept. The only thing RC has going for them is they admit Christ is God and that God is the Truine God. Satan knows that too doesnt he? Sadly, knowing is not sufficient to live eternally in Christ.

Satan has been meh ...busy somewhat but not really. He didnt have to apply himself much to get billions to follow him. The stripes are just different leading to same outcome. He just added some color here and there to make it his lie more appealing. Its a burden on my heart indeed. Knowing only the Holy Spirit can draw, still I proclaim the truth to my death.

Lord help us in our seed planting. Father save these pour lost souls! Save them ! Make the blind to see! Amen

Actually mwc68 you are not doing the Lord's work.

You are doing the work of the Catholic religion, not the works of God.

May God have mercy on your soul mwc68.

That was the religion that I was baptized in and grew up in. Later, I stopped going to confession years ago as Jesus is the one who forgives sins. I also stopped going to Holy Communion because Jesus was already living in my heart. If I were to meet the pope I would refer to him whatever is customary.

I am currently no longer attending mass. I still go to church on a weekly basis but it is not the Catholic church.

You are very eloquent in your responses and it is obvious that you have an excellent understanding of the Catholic faith.

I totally understand the Catholic Faith.

The Roman Catholic Church believes that Grace, Faith, and Christ are all necessary for the sinner's justification, but not sufficient. They believe Grace is necessary for justification, its just not enough and Merit must be added to Grace. They believe Faith is necessary for justification, its just not enough and Works must be added to Faith. They believe Christ is necessary for justification, its just not enough and the sinner must cooperate with and assent to this infused righteousness, so that real righteousness becomes inherent in the person before he can be justified.

God says that justification is by Grace alone, by Faith alone, and by Christ alone.

This is the major difference between us Christians and the Catholics. For us its God alone, the Catholics have tacked on other demands that are not from God.

What do you say to the Protestants who are coming home to the Catholic Church?
A ritualistic memorized, order of service, leaves you plenty of time to day-dream, and think about other things, during Church.

So I would say to them, "LAZY!"

I know why I am a Christian, and why I am not a Roman Catholic.
If those two things make me a protestant, so be it
:)

I rest my case. You wonder why so many people get mad, And say things that they do. this is the arrogance and pride that causes it.

News flash. Not everyone is as stupid as you say they are. and not everyone who leaves the roman church do so because they do not understand it.

Mec99 The Bible doesnt teach us about Roman Catholicism or any other ism. Why do we read anything at all? To have an informed opinion. Why read this site? Partly to find out what others believe and think.

I believe in the catholic (universal) church of Christ, not however in the ROMAN catholic church.

You are wrong tanach, the Scriptures do teach us about Roman Catholicism and other isms. We do not study the Word of God just to have an opinion!

Matthew 7:15
[SUP]15 [/SUP] "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15
[SUP]13 [/SUP] For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

2 Peter 2:1-3
[SUP]1 [/SUP] But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
[SUP]2 [/SUP] And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.
[SUP]3 [/SUP] By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

Destructive heresies from the Catholic Church:

1. Mary was without sin.
2. Mary was assumed into Heaven.
3. Mary is Queen of Heaven.
4. Mary as Co-redemptrix and Mediatrix of all Graces.
5. Baptism washes away Original sin.

These are just a few, the list can go on and on for page after page of heresies the Catholic Church teaches. This is why we Christian study the Word of God for the Truth.

It does not matter what others believe, what matters is what God says in His Scriptures.
