It's all good my friend. I like your passion. Think what Christianity would be without passion. :)

I also apologize for my conduct. Please forgive me.

Just shows that traditions were a little different 90+ years ago in the rural hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

God bless you, MC. :)
Well, there goes my theory it's the same diocese in New Jersey. Whoops.

It might be a Jersey thing. (Both Utah and I are from New Jersey.) In my old Catholic Church, we didn't give our offering at the door, but in one of two to three times they passed the basket during mass. Instead, we had to show our little offering envelopes at the door, and they could tell if they were empty. (Each one of us kids had to give a dime a week. Sounds cheap, but it was the 60's, and that dime would have been 20% of our allowance, if Mom didn't feel guilty for only giving us half of our allowance -- the other half was "saved" for Christmas -- so she gave us the dime out of her weekly allowance.) My parents had to show the big envelope at the door. "The big envelope" also had to include our names on it, because it was proving we "deserve" to stay in the Catholic School too. (I don't know if that paid our tuition or if that was above and beyond tuition. I never asked my parents, since family income was never supposed to be understood by us kids.)

After moving out of Jersey, I lived in two other states and a different part of Jersey (different diocese), where none of that ever happened. So, there is a good chance it was just one diocese in Jersey versus a common practice in The Church.
That is probably it. It has not changed at all since I was a very little kid except some words recently, like the Nicene Creed and the Glory to God, to be a closer translation to the Latin.

The understanding given me from the Word tells me I have no named denomination. I am become of the faith of Abraham, who is now my spiritual forefather. There is no other name for my faith in Jesus Christ, Yeshua.

Now, does anyone know why he or she is Catholic? I believe I do......but this has been covered many times in many threads and religious debates around this old world........

Believe Jesus Christ, and you will be of the faith of Abraham......

Why you are not catholic?? or if you are a Catholic do you know what the other churches disagree??

Most Protestants have nothing to protest, as they do not believe the RCC to be part of Christ's Church.
The only reason to "protest" is if you think they ARE part of the Church, who needs to be brought back to the fold.
The term is a dead term.

Are we to "protest" Islam and Judaism also?
If this is the case, then the only non-protestant Christians would be universalists.
:D ...... :D

Most Catholics were born into the Catholic church. This is how they became Catholics.

Its amazing how Catholics can claim they are Christians while rejecting every Truth in the Bible to follow what the Catholic Church teaches. Especially the Doctrines about Mary that the Catholic Church has made up since 1850.

Following Mary, praying to Mary ,serving Mary is Idolatry which will keep Catholics from Inheriting the Kingdom of God.

I feel sorry that so many good people have been cheated out of entering into Heaven by the Catholic Church.

When my dad was a child, the custom was to give your tithes as you entered mass. My dad's family were poor hillbillies that basically ate hand to mouth and one day they didn't have any money for tithing but they went to mass anyway.

The priest stopped my dad and his siblings and asked where their money was and they told him they didn't have any. The priest threw them out and told them not to come back until they had money.

They joined the Presbyterian church the next day and never looked back. Thank God.

If the many learned why they were Protestant they would not remain one but sadly only a few make the effort to learn that they are really Catholic just with different rules.

Also, in the past I might have accepted the term Protestant (even though I didn't like it), but now... I see it just as bad (if not worse) than Catholicism because Protestantism teaches the dark doctrine of Once Saved Always Saved.
The Bible does teach that once one has salvation one can not change back. The problem is to have salvation one must wait till after Jesus returns and even then most will have to wait till after the 1000 years end.

Protestants are just Catholics who have made there own rules to live by.

Then i'll ask you what I asked MWC...

"are you born again? Have you experienced a change in nature from rebellion against God to love for God and His Son Jesus Christ?
Do you love His Word, the bible?"
God in the Book most call the Bible it talks about Jesus being the first BORN AGAIN of many and Jesus gave the best example of how to be Born Again. You are a asking question that can only be answered with a NO.

It's true, you either believe the Bible or you don't, you cannot call yourself a follower of Christ and then add or take from The Word. RC's, JW's and so on have added to The Word.
But we can correct the mistakes found in the Bible, remember only God's Inspired Words are from God.

Mac4Yuma have you ever read the Scriptures?

There are no mistakes in the Bible. Are you saying Mac4Yuma that God makes mistakes?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
[SUP]16 [/SUP] All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
[SUP]17 [/SUP] that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

All the Scriptures came from God, there are no mistakes in the Scriptures from God.

I know what kind of person you are Mac4Yuma, you are one of those who reject what God says in the Bible because you have been deceived into believing man wrote the Bible long after Jesus Died.

The Bible came from the Holy Spirit and is 100% true. There are no mistakes in the Bible. The mistakes you think you find are because you do not have the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Its the Holy Spirit who teaches us what the Scriptures say. This is why you think there are mistakes in the Bible.

A True Child of God, a True Born Again Christian, knows there are no mistakes in the Bible. Its people who do not follow God and do not have the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit who say there are mistakes in the Bible and you are one of them.

1 Peter 1:23 (KJV) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

It's a past event for true believers.

The Bible does teach that once one has salvation one can not change back.
Well, here is a list of verses that makes it absolutely clear that believers can fall away from the faith.

1 Samuel 16:14
1 Samuel 31:4
Ezekiel 18:24
Hebrews 3:12-14
Hebrews 4:11
Hebrews 6:4-9
Hebrews 10:26-30
Hebrews 12:15
1 Timothy 1:18-20
1 Timothy 4:1-7
Galatians 3:1-5
2 Peter 2:20-22
2 Peter 3:17
Matthew 13:18-23
1 Corinthians 10:12
2 Thessalonians 2:3

Now, do not misunderstand me, believers cannot lose their salvation, but they can forfeit their salvation (i.e. they can willingly throw it away by rebelling against God). In fact,

Here is a list of believers who have forfeited their salvation:

And here is a list of potential fallen believers:

  • Recent Convert Who is a Potential Spiritual Leader (1 Timothy 3:6)

  • Believers Whose Seed Fell Upon the Rocks (Luke 8:13)

  • The Potential Fellow Believer Who Erred From the Truth & Was Converted Back
    (James 5:19, 20)

For Jesus is the Light and we are to shine the Light of Christ within our lives. For there are those who think they can serve Jesus and also live for oneself, sin, and evil; But this is wrong, though. "For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God" (John 3:20-21).

The problem is to have salvation one must wait till after Jesus returns and even then most will have to wait till after the 1000 years end.
First, salvation can be had right here and right now. All a person has to do is repent of their sins and accept Christ as their Savior (Then they must continue to abide in His good ways according to His Word). Second, as for the Millennium: Well, believers who are taken up into the Pre-Trib Rapture will not go thru the Millennium. Only those believers who were beheaded for Christ during the Tribulation will then live during the Millennium.
