Everything has a beginning. Even the Hebrew letters that make up the first word in the Bible: "Beginning" tells the whole story of Jesus. (Jesus the Son (Ben) of God was given as a grain offering so that Heaven & Earth could be reconciled - united - no longer divided) All 66 books & 31,102 verses has a beginning that is so easy and so simple a child can understand. We start with the children when they are old enough to march and we teach them the story of Jericho. By the time they graduate kindergarten they should have understanding of the letters that make up the words. We always need to start at the beginning and allow our understanding to progress from there.

Nebuchadnezzar had to defile the Temple before it could be destroyed. "As the LORD had declared, Nebuchadnezzar removed the treasures from the temple of the LORD and from the royal palace, and cut up the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had made for the temple of the LORD." (2 Kings 24:13)Same thing happened in 70 AD. We see this today at the Arch of Titus.

Elias as Moses are used to signify the witness of God .Two working as one in perfect haromnony .Like that of the father and Son .Can't have one without the other. Moses represents the written law "death" . while Elisa represent to the unseen power of the law . Together working as one perfect.
The law and the prophets (the gospel) wil be silenced or killed for a while but it will rise up and continue to do its work until it is cast into the fiery judgment of God.. . never to rise again and condemn a entire creation.
The Parable in Luke 16 uses the two witnesses of God to teach us that there is only once source of faith as it is written in the law and the prophets or called (sola scriptura) .The word of God minus the oral traditions of men.
The rich man( fool) in that parable was seeking after necromancy a legion workers with familiar spirits. . . a abomination. The Catholic call them patron saints.(3500 and rising) He wanted Lazarus to come and warn his brothers .. . denying the power of scripture (all things written in the law and the prophets) warned him twice he still refused to believe prophecy.
