smh

Yep. Lets have FAITH in self (our ability to be obedient)

And not faith in God.

There is hope in that (smh again and again)
Why ourself? We got a new nature. He works through us and lives in us, but we can't lay back and live in sin. We have to abide in Him, otherwise you don't make your election sure.
Faith working through Love.

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;*11*for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

That guy is spot on. This quote of his is just basic good sense, and highlights the pernicious influence of Calvinism/Augustinian-ism/Christian gnosticism that teaches man's free will was irredeemably destroyed by Adam's fall, and man is therefore incapable of obeying GOD to do his will (Total Depravity); thus the imperative that GOD must do everything to save a man. This teaching needs to be filed under Total Lunacy.

"All free-will creatures are under one basic law or commandment and that is the law of loving and willing obedience."

That's the worldview of that position. Anything that requires man to respond to and obey GOD is categorized as self-effort and works of law. It denies the reality that GOD gives man the ability to obey him (holy spirit), and embraces the doctrine of total inability as an excuse for sin.

Now your bearing false witness.

Ignoring me will not keep me from calling you out.

Legalism is when works and obedience is required to gain, keep or not lose your salvation.

Grace is when obedience is a part of a new nature created by Christ.

You teach the first. then get mad when people call you out.. That's to bad..

Where does the Apostle Paul teach faith + works for salvation?

Don't agree. They're always evangelists full of compassion for souls who totally lay their life down. Steve Hill for example.
This is about a lifestyle of sin and the warning texts of Paul, not an accidental sin. He came to set us free from sin, because we can't do it. If you give up He can do it and you go from Romans 7 to Romans 8.

Yes, but it's not a condition for eternal salvation. It's a condition to receive rewards or suffer loss.

The grace to do mighty works of obedience lol

Why ourself? We got a new nature. He works through us and lives in us,
Yeah we do, So why do people like you, the author of the paper. and HRFTD deny that these things are true?

A new nature does not live like the old nature.. Just like doing GOOD is against our old nature (God says we can not even do it) Doing sin is against our new nature. As hard as it was to do good in the old, is how hard it is to do sin under the new.
but we can't lay back and live in sin.
If we have a new nature, Your right, we can't. that is why a child of God will never do it. Because they have a new nature.

We have to abide in Him, otherwise you don't make your election sure.
Faith working through Love.
I am sorry sin, that is just not true. That's legalism and forces man to earn his salvation, and denys the grace of God.

Faith does work in love, Because faith in Gods love causes us to work..

Faith is the power of works. not the other way around, like the author wants us to believe.

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;*11*for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
So, You would rather trust in your ability to change yourself. and Not Gods ability to change you? Which he promises he will?

Hebrews 10:14
For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Is God able to keep his promise, to continue to sanctify you forever.. Or is God a liar and not able to do it?

It would be a problem, if it is not grace.

HRFTD is not teaching grace, Grace is unearned favor, charity, mercy, given to those who have not earned

This I can agree.

Grace causes these works, if we have faith,, And God never fails. he continues to show his worthiness. Thus a person would never lose faith.

Either way, Grace is not conditional. That's is why we need grace, if it was conditional. We could not have grace.

Sure, my eternal security is conditional...it's conditional upon a Savior who can actually save. A Savior who can actually fulfill His promises to never lose any who are His and to finish the work He has begun in me.

My salvation is eternally secure because it is not conditional upon myself and what I may or may not do, but, upon Christ and what He has done and continues to do. He is my assurance.

FAITH in God's gift "saves" - obedience is the PROOF that we HAVE been reborn through it.

The good works we bear after being saved are a testimony to the fact that we have been reborn ...

2 Peter 1:9-11 (NASB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.
[SUP]10 [/SUP] Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;
[SUP]11 [/SUP] for in this way the entrance ( Greek = access ) into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.

Our salvation is a gift (Romans 6:23). We can’t earn it. But according to these verses, there are things we can do that will make our salvation stable or sure ( 2 Peter 1:10). Paul mentioned the grace of God and his laboring in the same verse (1 Corinthians 15:10). These are not mutually exclusive. We have to labor to enter into Christ’s rest ( Hebrews 4:11).

Then verse 12 says...

2 Peter 1:12 (NASB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you.

Notice that Peter was telling these people things they already knew and were established in. This makes the point that we need to hear truth over and over. Faith comes by hearing, not by having heard (Romans 10:17). We don’t get all the revelation of any truth all at once. We have to meditate on truth over and over, and each time we do, the revelation becomes deeper and more established in us.

This is how we become "stable" and then the things of the kingdom of God will be abundantly supplied to us and we get "access" ( verse 11 ) into the things of the kingdom,,..like walking in peace, joy and love, ..etc. And of course when we die - we go to be with the Lord but we can live in victory here on this earth in the meantime.

Ephesians 1:13-14, "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

step #1: hear the gospel
Step #2: believe/trust the gospel
Step #3: sealed for the redemption by the Holy Spirit, guaranteed, the promise of the adoption

Where does the Apostle Paul teach faith + works for salvation?
Jesus and all of the apostles taught such. The problem is that the discussion always gets skewed by the faith + works meme to mean only doing good works. Those are what are rewarded (or not rewarded if they burn up).

Works also includes doing evil. Many scripture passages have to be ignored or twisted to assert that man doesn't have to keep himself pure to be saved.

In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s gracious choice. But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace. (Rom 11:5-6)

Who has a claim against Me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to Me. (Job 41:1)

For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”

Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.
And to the one who does not work but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
and whose sins are covered;
blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.” (Rom 4:2-8)

i could go on and on (as anyone may easily imagine :p)

He is able to but Paul continually warns to stay in the faith and not fall back. He doesn't do it all Alone. You must do your part.
A believer can sin. Maybe some holy ones not but I was perfectly able to go live in sin.
