so my question about the thread question itself is "snow flake" ? Are you the forum expert and everyone else is wrong ? So, my favourite translation is the KJV. That being my choice, is that a problem for you ?
Nope you missed his point altogether are you always this easily offended?

What I have witnessed are many of the churches that use the perverted new versions of the Bible, those churches are going towards worshiping in darkness (dim the lights) and keep the lights down the whole service, sometimes even having a mist (fog machine). I have not found a KJV believing church that turns its lights down to worship.

how low they will go to convince themselves they are correct.

I have never been to a church who does that, so fail to see the revelelence myself.

One of the assumptions of “Dynamic Equivalency” is that original Scripture to be understood by the readers. This sounds pretty well but not according to 2 Peter 3;16, Matthew 13:10-13 1 Peter 1:10-11 and Hebrews 5:14 that is why we need to “study”.

I think word for word translations are more direct, even if the english in them. seems kind of strange, simply because the original language had so many hebrew idioms and greek phrases that would be totally lost on an english speaking reader.

when you go to paraphrase sometimes you end up losing a lot of meaning, but the point of paraphrases is to rehphrase the bible in such a way that the reader would get it in their own idioms.


If the Bible sounds a bit like yoda speaking to you, the thing is not to translate it so that yoda speaks english the way you would. You just leave it as it is and adjust your thinking to yodas and appreciate it for what it is.

the other thing about KJV is its not under copyright so its in the public domain and anyone can use it.
Which is great as it will never be out of print. Other translations come and go all the time. But it seems KJV has stayed.
Yeah that's the reason why I default to it. I doubt anyone would come after me for bulk quoting but they "could" as it is in the front of almost all the newer translations.

Interesting thing to add to the discussion though as I was not aware KJV was used as the source...So it's like, if the KJV has "so" many errors as some claim...then lots and lots of people groups have corrupted bibles. Which would be a problem unless again, these things are ultimately irrelevant because, without the Holy Spirit guiding your understanding with scripture, you aren't going to get anywhere anyway.

Plus there is variance in each language and based off one story I read (biography) some concepts don't even translate into their native tongue and would have to be further translated to the people themselves anyway. Like if we thought to translate faith to them they might not even have such a concept and would either necessitate a new word or further teaching on what that means regardless.

Language has limitations that's why we need the Holy Spirit :)

Again, there are examples in the bible where what was spoken in one language was translated into another language and that translation became the original inspired Scripture. Translating is no problem with our God. He can give us the exact English words we need and I believe he has.

I really have no idea why they use them in some congregations.

I've used the KJV for years. I like it, though I think the claims made by the KJV onlyists are without merit.

Sorry bud I go off of facts not fiction. There are to many Greek words where there is no englich equivalent

You can deny it all you want it will not change the fact

I agree, but I’m ok with that. It doesn’t need to be a word for word. I’ve got the exact English words God has given. Many examples throught scripture where the translation is the word of truth.

Nope you have words some man gave you, and many do not interpret what God really said

It’s no so much it has a bunch of errors. It is that it is not perfect as some claim..
