He was not implying that at all. Offering milk and cookies is a euphemism from the Speak Your Mind thread. It means to 'chill out'.
Well, we are discussing Soteriology; And seeing we are talking about the proper way to be saved (with souls being on the line here), I will never chill out.

no one stops sinning
Well, I am not surprised you believe that. The majority of churches teach this as a matter of fact with no actual Scripture verses to back up that statement. However, this is what the Scripture plainly teaches, though (Which will not make you popular among the churches). Just check out this video here and see the verses for yourself.

Oh, that topic is easy !

KJV Holy Bible

KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith;

and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

KJV That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.

KJV For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;

and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

KJV For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I want to understand what you believe. Are you actually saying you believe Jesus just hung out with sinners... got them to believe in Him... and yet He did not require them to stop sinning as a part of having a right standing with God?
Exactly! He expected them to stop sinning as a result ot the Holy Spirit's prompting and enablement.

Have you stopped sinning ?
I do not commit sins that lead unto death currently. So yes, in that sense I have stopped sinning. Are you interested in learning about the verses or are you more interested in my personal walk with God? Which one do you think you will have most to gain by in learning this topic?

Yet, James says faith without works is dead. In other words, what James is saying is that true faith will always result in true fruit that will prove itself to be a true faith. Yet, Paul is saying that we are not actually saved by anything we are doing, though. Titus 3:5 makes it clear we are saved by His mercy and by the regeneration of the Holy Ghost. Meaning, that when we are truly transformed by God's grace and by His Spirit and are born again spiritually for real in accepting His Word when we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our Savior, the Lord then does the good work within us. This is confirmed in Ezekiel 36:26-27. So saving faith is where one yield to God and the work He wants to do within the true believer. For if a believer does sin, they do not get right with God by doing a good work. They get right with God by confessing their sin (1 John 2:1; 1 John 1:9) and then by walking in the light as he is in the light, whereby the blood of Jesus will cleanse them of all sin (1 John 1:7).

So, you have not stopped sinning, right ?

Sins that lead unto death. Yes. Sins that lead unto death are those sins that Paul talks about in Galatians 5, Ephesians 5, 1 Corinthians 6, etc. However, what I would like to know is that why haven't you checked out the verses in the video? Okay, if you are not into videos. Just do a Blue Letter Bible search on the keywords "perfect" "cease sin" and "ceased sin."

lol, really, the book of James was written to the twelve tribes .

The gospel of grace was first revealed to the Apostle to the gentiles, Paul .

Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation

of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

Ah, so you are proponent of MAD (Mid Acts Dispensationalism)? If that is the case, I have not run into too many MAD proponents here at CC (Christian Chat). I used to debate extensively with this false theology at TOL (Theology Online), though. There are tons of Scriptures that refute the thinking that there are two or more gospels. For one, just off the top of my head, Paul says in 1 Timothy 6:3-4 that if any teaches contrary to the words of Jesus and the doctrine of Godliness is proud and knows nothing.

Is that what DC was saying? Correct me if I am wrong, but I am not so sure he was saying that. I was getting the impression from what he said that they didn't have to stop sinning in order to be saved. That a belief alone was all that is required to be in a saving faith (of which of course as you know I do not agree with).

The Bible is not a book whereby you can quote only a few selected verses that you prefer seeing. There are many verses even by Paul himself that refute OSAS.

  • Ephesians 2:2-3 - Paul says in times past the believers at Ephesus walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, which is the same spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: Paul also says to them that they used to have their conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and WERE by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

  • 2 Corinthians 7:10 - Godly sorrow over sin leads Christians to repent, which leads to salvation.

  • Galatians 5:19-21 - Anyone practicing such sins (the works of the flesh) will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  • Galatians 5:24 - Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

  • Galatians 6:7-8 - Don't be deceived: sowing to the flesh reaps corruption, sowing to the Spirit reaps eternal life.

  • 1 Timothy 4:1 - Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith.

  • 1 Timothy 5:11-15 - Some younger widows are condemned; they cast off their first faith and turned after Satan.

  • 1 Timothy 6:3-4 - Paul says that if any man teaches contrary to the words of Jesus and the doctrine of Christ is proud knowing nothing.

  • 1 Timothy 6:9-14 - Greed and love of money drowns men in destruction and perdition; Instead, pursue godliness and lay hold on eternal life (and keep this command without blame).

  • Philippians 2:12-16 - Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, holding fast the word of life …
… so that: (1) you may become blameless, and (2) Paul did not labor in vain concerning you.

Really, these statements are perfectly clear !
Be sincere, tell me, what is your impression about these statements .

Another thing you need to get over Jason......Jesus either paid your entire sin debt almost 2000 years ago or he paid none of it......and to say that he did not pay for every sin you would ever commit rejects and denies the fact that where sin abounds GRACE did much more abound...Christ died unto SIN once and paid the entire sin debt of humanity except for unbelief....
Sin is unbelief. For whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

In Soteriology, there are verses that deal with Justification, Santification, and Glorification. Justification is the initial acceptance of God (Christ) and the repenting of their sins. Sanctification is the continued walk with God whereby He does the good work within the believer. Glorification is the process by which God takes them home to be with Him.

The verses you mentioned above is dealing with Justification (Initial acceptance of Christ).

For I can give you a gift such as a car (tax free), yet if you drove threw red lights, texted while driving drunk, and ignored general maintanence on your car, then you are not going to have that car (Which is a free gift) for long.

Anyways, what do you make of the verses you are ignoring that I posted above?
