How do I know? ahhhh because it was named 'Green - land' and it was green, like as in green grass and supported a significant agricultural society, that was until it got too cold, because the whether changed, and we see today that Greenland is not so green anymore and its colder, colder than it has been in the past.

Erik the red discovered 'green-land' when he had been banished from Iceland for 3 years for murder, He named it Greenland to attract norse settlers. There is another theory that the names were switched to confuse any vikings from invading. Greenland was green when Erik the red discovered it.

I have heard this as well, not sure how true it is.

And what happens due to all this ice melting? Obviously the sea levels will rise causing problems for people on coastal areas and islands. It's fine to say that it's been happening for ages, but obviously we haven't been as big a world population as we are now, so it's a little bit more concerning.
yea,,obviously the sea level rises and that is true that it is more of a concern now due to population of the coastal belts....likewise when the ice/glaciers expand man and animals are driven away and when it recedes vis versa, but the fact is it is inevitable.

I personally don't buy the idea that it is caused by humans, but is probably not helped by humans, particularly when you consider how humans have devastated animal habitats and global warming will push them over the edge, to extinction. The facts of global warming though themselves are hard to deny, or at least I haven't seen any solid evidence to the contrary.

The sun spots seem to have a connection with global warming/cooling, these spots peak every 11 years I think it is, 2012 is the next cycle, is it a coincidence most religions and ancient beliefs including the Bible (so I'm told) point to an event in 2012?...

Not sure exactly what the beliefs are, some believe the world is going to end, which I think is hogwash, some believe that their Messiah will return, but most believe that some sought of major event is doing to happen.

I will be really excited to see what that event is! It better be good seeming as i have to wait 3 years for it. Any one who tries to put dates on the world ending is ridiculas, i remember the whole thing where pat robertson swore up and down the world was going to end in the year 2000, its been nine years and unfortunantly we are all still here.

a bit.. thats an under statement. I dont know what was goin on in australia at the time, but people here were convinced we were all going to die. Pat robbertson hyped that whole thing up. Just like he said god told him that a huge tsunami is going to wipe out all of california soon

Technically since the clock ticked over for australia before you guys, well, new zealand even before us too , they had more right to be worried. I don't actually remember what it was like.

The whole turn of the millennium hype I think was global, I was on duty at the time (emergency services) and everyone was anticipating major disasters due to computers crashing an' all....was a big laugh!
