Here is another one from a different person ..

[video=youtube;VqWC5v7LlZM]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqWC5v7LlZM[/video]

I listened to the JP video and it didn't address crossmarks question. But I'm listening to this message and this guy has a very good grasp on what the Bible says the Holy Spirit does and how He reminds us of our righteousness IN Christ and we get a revelation of Jesus Christ's work in us. Good link Grace777, but the JP vid didn't get into the Holy Spirit's not convicting the believer of sin.

The walk of the Christian is to keep looking to Jesus. Why would we be continually told to look to Jesus, put on the mind of Christ., etc... And then the Holy Spirit would instead of remind of sin and convict us of our sin? He does it in a whole different way than what makes sense to us humans since we are used to being reprimanded humanly speaking.

The battle is to REMEMBER who we are IN Christ and the power of His resurrection working in and through us. When we sin, we are not behaving in accordance with who we are in Christ. Does the HS use condemnation to get us back to the path? No, He tells us of our right standing IN Christ and we are motivated by the LOVE of Christ to be Christ like. It is the LOVE OF GOD that constrains us.

The whole mind set of the person is to be changing. Our human mind set says we deserve to be condemned and whipped back into shape. The Holy Spirit is the comforter., the teacher., to lead us into all truth while we are here. He deals with us according to HIS grace. Not according to our sins. This is how we learn now. We need to get a revelation on how different God teaches us now that we are sons.

For the grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts., how to live soberly righteously and Godly in this present age.

Yes...the first video was only 6 minutes.....I thought it was the long version that did talk about what the Holy Spirit does...I agree that the one you watched here..he does do an excellent job of getting to the point about the Holy Spirit....thanks for pointing that out.....sorry crossnote for not giving the full one out to you first...

..and great post about looking to Jesus and what He has done for us. We are new creations!...Let's find out what happened by " Behold"...new things have come as it says in 2 Cor 5:17...what are we to "behold".?....inquiring minds want to know...:)

Good link Grace777, but the JP vid didn't get into the Holy Spirit's not convicting the believer of sin.

Oh sooo sorry for doubting you Grace777 :D I should have known better. But oh dear those who don't know about speaking in tongues will be a bit uncomfortable. Over a year ago I was repulsed by tongues. It was so foreign a concept to my religious up bringing that all who did it were odd balls and even hit something inside me that I was clueless about how to recognize....Fear. Fear of faith is what it was and I have learned to recognize that kind of fear as not being from God like I thought. I often think it is a very high and often difficult scary calling God has for us to walk by faith. To not fear and then to learn what is from God and what is not from God. But unless I was willing to step out in faith and face issues., I would not know how to even begin to do this walk. I had to take a chance and trust that God would hold me through it. Again, as Willie posted in another thread, that it is scary but it's the only way he will go now and will never turn back. ME TOO!!

We can't turn our backs on the faith walk we have been called to. It takes some guts to walk in places we have never been to go to places we have never been. But God's blessings are new every morning. That truth takes on new meaning.

The Bible tells us to step out in faith and dare to believe in the kind of grace that changes a you from the inside out. The good news IS that good. That we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. Freely given... goes against the spirit of the world.

1. The Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8).
2. The Spirit guides us into all truth (John 16:13).

Neither Prince nor this person know what they're talking about. Both false teachers.

Jesus convicts (proves wrong) both the world and believers of sin. Reprove and rebuke in the verses below are the same word.

Reprove/Rebuke
G1651 ἐλέγχω elegcho (el-eng'-kho) v.
1. to confute, admonish

Jesus convicts the world of sin
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: John 16:8

Jesus convicts believers of their sin
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Revelation 3:19

Am just gonna try to hit each one of these wrong ideas one by one here as they come up as best as I can and may not hit the mark, but will try. It's a wonderful thing to know that the Good Shepherd leads the sheep., He doesn't drive the sheep. :)

Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd (to feed, guide and shield me) I shall not lack.
He makes me lie down in fresh tender green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
He refreshes and restores my life my self;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness uprightness and right standing with Him., not for my earning it, but for His name's sake.
Yes, though I walk through the deep sunless valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod (to protect) and Your staff (to guide), they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my brimming cup runs over.
Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord and His presence shall be my dwelling place.

This is how the sheep are dealt with (note) The rod and staff do not pound on the sheep., beat on the sheep or bludgeon the sheep. NEVER. We are the sheep of HIS pasture. Thank You Jesus for making it so.

Being rebuked under the covenant of grace is much different than under the covenant of the law. We are constantly being shown, admonished,directed.,lead, instructed and chastened by the truths in the Bible and the Holy Spirit and respond by repenting...zealously we (change our minds) and agree zealously with God's way and turn from our way of thinking and doing. zealously.

We are chastened by the Word and brought back on the path of truth. A rebuke is not a beating. Repenting is not because of a beating. Chastening or instruction comes in different ways all through our lives. And instruction and teaching are not always because of being off the path or when the Christian is not reading the Bible. God uses circumstances in our lives to teach us but He does NOT cause sickness or death. He is the God of life and sent His Son that we might have life and that more abundantly...NOW and LATER.

Another reason the Bible is so important to the believer. The Holy Spirit works right along side the Word of God and right along side the body of Christ and the preaching and teaching of the Word.

The Holy Spirit is inside of us to reveal Jesus to us and what Jesus did for us in His finished work...and the Holy Spirit reveals the things of God..

John 16:13-15 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.[SUP]15 [/SUP] "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

1 Corinthians 2:12-16 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
[SUP]13 [/SUP] Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Exactly and timely verses for the posts on this thread. These verses can be taken with a joyful heart or missed by a doubtful one. It is awesome how the same truths keep getting revealed from the Bible., Jesus Christ is magnified and seeking to know Him is the goal.

The spiritual things are taught to us and spiritually discerned., and not to the natural man. We have received the spirit which is from God, that we might KNOW the things that are FREELY given to us. Constantly looking to be taught from the Bible and the Holy Spirit comparing verses with verses and rightly dividing the Word of truth by the Word of truth., not our human intellect. Reading the Bible can be done by an atheist but understanding the Bible can only be done through the Holy Spirit to the sons of God. (understanding has been freely given to us if we just take it by faith)

The word " convict/reprove/convince/expose" in question has many meanings attached to it as well.

It is only used 1 time in KJV as "convict"....it is used more often with the word "to reprove/rebuke/convince"...the word needs to be looked at in the "context" that it is used...

It is a revealing of things.....to the world the Holy Spirit reveals/convinces/expose their sin of unbelief in Jesus..

.to the believer He reveals/convinces/expose that they are the righteousness of Christ because He went to the Father to stand as an Advocate.

John 16:8-10 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] "And He, when He comes, will convict the world ( unbelievers ) concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;
[SUP]9 [/SUP] concerning sin, because they ( unbelievers ) do not believe in Me;
[SUP]10 [/SUP] and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you ( believers ) no longer see Me;

1 John 2:1-2 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
[SUP]2 [/SUP] and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
Here are a few examples of the same exact word used in scripture...as one can clearly see..this word has many uses depending on the context

1 Corinthians 14:24 (KJV)
[SUP]24 [/SUP] But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

Titus 1:9 (KJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Matthew 18:15 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

John 8:46 (KJV)
[SUP]46 [/SUP] Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

English Words used in KJV: reprove 6
rebuke 5
convince 4
tell (one's) fault 1
convict 1
[Total Count: 17]

So it is ok to judge my observations but I can't judge your 'holy ones'?
What observations?

The comments you've made here have been based on what you've heard those who are against the Gospel of Grace say about what is taught.

You have not demonstrated a willingness to examine what is taught by reputable Grace teachers themselves. We'll keep posting some of their stuff, though. We want to make sure you have the opportunity to acquire first-hand observations :).

Just another lying fool regurgitating the same old ad nauseum hypergrace lie that the holy spirit convicts us of our righteousness.

The holy spirit convicts (exposes and proves wrong) both the world and believers of sin. Reprove and rebuke in the verses below are the same word.

Reprove/Rebuke
G1651 ἐλέγχω elegcho (el-eng'-kho) v.
1. to confute, admonish

The holy spirit convicts the world of sin

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: John 16:8

Jesus convicts believers of their sin

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Revelation 3:19

Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, 221-22.
ἐλέγχω (elénchō)
2. In the NT the use is restricted. With the accusative of person it means “to show people their sins and summon them to repentance,” either privately (Mt. 18:15) or congregationally (1 Tim. 5:20). The Holy Spirit does this (Jn. 16:8), as also Christ does both now (Rev. 3:19) and at the parousia (Jude 15). No one can do it to Jesus himself (Jn. 8:46). Sinners experience this exposure when faced by the prophetic call (Lk. 3:19), divine instruction (Heb. 12:5), or the law (Jms. 2:9). perí is used to denote the fault (Lk. 3:19), with hóti for elaboration (Jn. 16:9ff.). Correction as well as exposure or conviction is implied; the corresponding action is élenxis (2 Pet. 2:16) or elegmós (2 Tim. 3:16).

Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament: Based on Semantic Domains
33.417 ἐλέγχω; ἔλεγξις, εως f; ἐλεγμός, οῦ m: to state that someone has done wrong, with the implication that there is adequate proof of such wrongdoing—‘to rebuke, to reproach, rebuke, reproach.’
ἐλέγχω: ὁ δὲ Ηρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης, ἐλεγχόμενος υ’π̓ αυ’τοῦ περὶ Ηρῳδιάδος ‘Herod the tetrarch was rebuked by him because of Herodias’ Lk 3:19; μᾶλλον δὲ καὶ ἐλέγχετε ‘but rather rebuke them’ Eph 5:11.
ἔλεγξις: ὃς μισθὸν ἀδικίας ἠγάπησεν ἔλεγξιν δὲ ἔσχεν ἰδίας παρανομίας ‘who loved the money he would get for doing wrong and was reproached for his transgression’ 2 Pe 2:15–16.
ἐλεγμός: πᾶσα γραφὴ θεόπνευστος καὶ ὠφέλιμος πρὸς διδασκαλίαν, πρὸς ἐλεγμόν ‘all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for rebuking’ 2 Tm 3:16.

A Concise Greek-English Dictionary of the New Testament
ἐλέγχω (aor. pass. ἠλέγχθην ) show (someone his) fault or error, convince (someone) of (his) fault or error; show (something) up for what it is; prove guilty, condemn; rebuke, reprove

Synonyms of the New Testament, 9th ed.
... ἐλέγχειν is a much more pregnant word; it is so to rebuke another, with such effectual wielding of the victorious arms of the truth, as to bring him, if not always to a confession, yet at least to a conviction, of his sin (Job 5:17; Prov. 19:25), just as in juristic Greek, ἐλέγχειν is not merely to reply to, but to refute, an opponent.

... ἔλεγχος implies not merely the charge, but the truth of the charge, and further the manifestation of the truth of the charge; nay more than all this, very often also the acknowledgment, if not outward, yet inward, of its truth on the part of the accused; it being the glorious prerogative of the truth in its highest operation not merely to assert itself, and to silence the adversary, but to silence him by convincing him of his error.

Did you notice that it says in YOUR struggle against sin. Not the Holy Spirits struggle against sin. And sin is singular.......our old sin nature. our "good" and our sin.

The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ discipline a believer to get the believer back in His plan for their lives. He is not making the believer pay,pay,pay for a specific sin or legalistic activity.

He convicts and disciplines us in the things that we are NOT(His plan for our lives) doing, not making us pay for "bad" things we have done.

Yes!

God's discipline in the life of a believer is training for our future, not punishment for our past.

Obviously you have a skewed understanding when you say that people should not repent....I don't have the time nor the desire to go around this mulberry bush again but for on lookers on the site..they can go and see what is really being said on that subject...they can click below to read for themselves and rely on the Holy Spirit to guide them.

Wow., lots going on since I last was here. I see Grace777 has been posting links from the horses mouth sort of speak., and also from a few other links. There is NO way to understand unless you hear a person out to the end of their explanation. Even if while you are listening mid way you get annoyed again. Listen until the end because the very questions gets laid out then the answer in context to the question and then some.

I don't do the linking very well and end up spending hours trying to articulate an answer. It has been stated so many times that repentance is done every day. We are constantly repenting and changing our minds to be in agreement with God's Word about Him and us. We agree and change. Repentance is not always crying in sorrow and regret., it is most often having a mind change and realizing how far off we were. Then we get in line with the truth.

I spent many years in the kind of repentance that you are speaking of here and basically it was a glorification of my emotions. I focused on how awful I 'felt' and not on the remedy to the regret and suffering of sorrow for my missing the mark. Religion is focused on how much can WE do to show God how sorry WE are.... what can WE DO to get this right? to make this right? How do WE get OUT of this awful feeling of guilt and condemnation???? How much suffering do we need to do?
(when all the while the Christian has been given the gift of NO CONDEMNATION and is ignoring it)

Repentance (the kind you are talking about) is NOT the true Gospel of Christ crucified. Our 'feelings' of sorrow are about as valuable to God as Judas's were. He was so sorry he hated himself and tried to make it right by giving back the silver.,then he made the ultimate payment of showing just HOW sorry he was and what he was willing to do to PAY. He killed himself.

Many Christians are slowly doing that too. As if that mattered in the face of what Jesus did on the cross. WE CAN NOT DO WHAT HE DID. Repentance is actually accepting God's remedy for our sin...Jesus Christ His Son. Humbling ourselves to the realization our 'feelings' are stupid. They are supposed to be put aside and instead we are to take on God's way of solving the sin problem.

As Christians we LEARN from the place of forgiveness. We do not have to start all over again as if we were never made sons. We have the gift of no condemnation and we are learning about God's grace and how it applies.
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to ladylynn again.

:) Perfectly relayed.
