I keep seeing SDA being thrown around....HOW many people actually are a part of the SDA?

One mentioned his wife attended but no one else has really fessed up.

Personally I attend a United Methodist church, but don't always agree with all the other members. However I agree with major principles like salvation is by faith alone, the priesthood of all believers, power should not rest in one person but shared with the whole church body, importance of small groups and individual bible study and moral accountability, importance of service, etc.

You don't have to answer, just curious.

I have attended a Messianic Jewish congregation and we get along fine. They don't seem to have any problems with what I am saying.

They tell me they want to honor their Jewish roots and culture and do it not in order to be saved but as a rememberance . they also don't condemn Sunday worship and some even attend church on Sunday also.

Why are people against the concept that Jesus tells us we should SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD and not worry about food or clothes any day but always trust God to provide?

Not sure what you mean.

Monday - Friday are working days. Saturday-Sunday is weekend.

A week starts with Monday, ends with Sunday.

Almost everywhere :)
Actually every calendar starts with Sunday as the first day of the week - correctly....

Everybody had to work for a living. these people had jobs, or found work to survive. Food clothing, and shelter they had to have. They did no hold out collection plates like the churches do in this age.

I am not of any particular denomination. I understand that Ellen G. White was the one among the SDAs who put the great emphasis on the fourth commandment, and also that her writings are believed to be equal to the Bible(and above it, apparently).

The conversation isn't about collection plates but how Jesus says NOT TO BE ANXIOUS ABOUT food and clothes but to SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM of GOD.

You don't understand what the Sabbath is about spiritually, that is following the letter of the law and not the Spirit.

It's your choice to place yourself under the Sinai, but don't pretend that you doit to please God.

People chose Sinai because they want God to be distant.

They don't want to SEEK His kingdom every day and that is why they reject His truth.

They would rather follow the ten commandments as given on Mount Sinai than Jesus commandment as explained upon the Sermon on the mount.

It's easier to not outwardly kill someone than to examine one's heart and make sure you forgive everyone every day.

It's easier to focus on God one day a week with rituals and without the distractions of physical labors. Than to do all your work for God and seeing Jesus in all the people you serve every day.

It is easier to focus only on God one day a week Then always trust God to provide and seek first His kingdom instead of trying to make money to feed and clothe yourswlf,

It is quite evident that people chose their own interpretation of Mount Sinai (removing sections and picking only what they feel like keeping, this condemning themselves by changing the laws God gave about animal sacrifice, etc)...instead of letting that law of sin and death be nailed in the cross, they cling to the corpse and make an idol of it.

Jesus established the New Covenant on the Sermon on the mount. He explained the spiritual meaning behind ALL the laws on Mount Sinai.

HE explained the Sabbath is kept in Spirit by SEEKING FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD, which should be done every day.

If you want to reject Jesus commands, it's your choice.
You don't seem to realise just how much you accuse, judge and condemn others...in ignorance I might add.
You believe that every word spoken at Sinai is past and gone and nailed to the cross...obviously NOT hearing GOD who spoke and separated the 10 Commandments as eternal ans spiritual observance.
People REFUSED to Hear God then just as they do Now...so it is not surprising they can't keep them !!!

There is ONE who judges and it is not you !

It's about the Bible verse that says to work as if for God and not men.

It's not about being lazy and doing nothing as you seem to believe Sabbath observance is about...its about observing Sabbath as Jesus did...working for God always...not just pretending to trust God one day of the week...but trusting God to provide always by SEEKING FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

Your right it's not me that judges It's God and His words.
.If you wish to be under the Covenant at Mount Sinai, then you are a child of Hagar.
.that is what the Bible says.

You can chose to reject and justify yourself, but it's your choice.

Discussion is fine but people cross the line to judging when they say things like.....if you worship on sunday, you are following a satanic tradition and condemned by God.

That is clearly not in the Bible and people should worship God every day of the week.

Still has not really answer what you do and don't do on the Sabbath that you can't do or don't do every day?

You mentioned work.

However it clearly shows that work was done by Jesus.

The priest profane the Sabbath and are held blameless.

We are God's priest and His holy temple.
If we do all our work to God and not men, then we can keep, the Sabbath laws every day. Not just one day a week.
I have no problem with worshipping God every day or even doing ''essential work on the Sabbath.
But to make sunday an ''official worship day is going AGAINST scripture.
GOD definitely made the SABBATH the OFFICIAL Worship day and to receive HIS instructions on....NOT sunday or any day.

I think most of us can agree that most calendars have Sunday as the first day of the week, and most work weeks begin on Monday.

Did the Beraens only examine scriptures one day of the week or every day?

Did Paul preach only on Sabbath or every day?

*****

Acts 17:11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Which is holier/greater? The sabbath, or the or the one who made it?

Which is holier/greater? The law to observe the sabbath, or the lawgiver?

Which is holier/greater? The sabbath and the law to observe it, or the body of the creator and lawgiver?

And he said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” Luke 6:5

We are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. Ephesians 5:30

Those who obsess about the sabbath set their minds on earthly things.

Those who follow Christ set their minds on heavenly things.

Hello friends,

Now let's be honest here and with ourselves.

Where does it say in God's Word that God's Sabbath should be kept EVERYDAY? :)

If we believe Sola Scriptura (God's Word Only) then Gods does NOT say God's Sabbath is EVERYDAY as there is NO scriupture that says this.

WHAT IS GOD'S SABBATH?

It is the 4th Commandment from the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) if we break it just like ANY of the 10 Commandments we are guilty of committing SIN before GOD (Romans 7:7; James 2:8-12; 1 John 3:4).

WHERE DOES THE SABBATH COME FROM?

God's Sabbath is a memorial of CREATION that was made in the creation week and given to our first parents (Adam and Eve). Let's look at the scriptures..........

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And
ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.
3, And
GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY, and made it HOLY <the 7th day>: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

RESTEDH7673שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}[a primitive root]KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep Sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

Some points to note from the scriptures...............

v1 God completed creation in 6 days and RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v2 God RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v3 God SET APART the 7TH DAY and made THE 7TH DAY a HOLY DAY
v2 The 7TH DAY is part of the FINISHED WORK of the CREATION WEEK

CONCLUSION: Gods SABBATH was made in the CREATION WEEK on the 7th DAY of CREATION. It is part of a FINISHED WORK in creation. The 7th DAY God set apart as a HOLY day because he RESTED from the WORK of CREATION

................

Let's now look at God's 4th commandment............

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
9, Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10, But the
SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
11,
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested theSEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

Some points to note from the scriptures...............

v8 God tells us to REMEMBER the SABBATH DAY to keep it HOLY
v10
God tells us the 7th DAY of the WEEK is his SABBATH DAY
v8;10
God tells us the 7th DAY is to be kept as a HOLY day and NO secular WORK is to be done on this day
v11 God tells us the reason is because it is a memorial of CREATION and the CREATOR and God blessed the 7th DAY and made it a HOLY DAY.

CONCLUSION: Gods SABBATH was made in the CREATION WEEK on the 7th DAY of CREATION. It is part of a FINISHED WORK in creation. The 7th DAY God set apart as a HOLY day because he RESTED from the WORK of CREATION. God commnads us in the 4th Commandment of the 10 Commandments to REMEMBER the 7th DAY of the WEEK it is a HOLY DAY that NO secular WORK is to be conducted.

................

WHAT DAY IS THE LORD'S DAY?

Matthew 12
8,
FOR THE SON OF MAN IS LORD OF THE SABBATH DAY.

THE SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS JESUS IS A SABBATH OR THE LORD'S DAY IS SUNDAY?

????????????? there is none.

ARE YOU WORSHIPPING GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH IF YOU ARE BREAKING GOD'S COMMANDMENTS?

Matthew 15
3,
But he answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4, For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.
5, But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatever you might be profited by me;
6, And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7, You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8, This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9, But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

If you are breaking God's Commandments then Jesus says you are not worshiping God but sinning agaisnt him. SIN will keep all who pratice it OUT of God's KINGDOM.

...............

NOW it is important to worship God EVERYDAY of the week but GOD'S 4th Commandment which is the 7th DAY of the WEEK is a HOLY DAY.

God says he BLESSED the 7th DAY of the WEEK. The 7th DAY of the week is God's SABBATH DAY and GOD made his SABBATH DAY a HOLY DAY that NO WORK is to be done on this DAY.

NOW PLEASE tell us where in Sola Scriptura (Gods' WORD alone) does it say God's SABBATH which GOD says is the 7th DAY of the WEEK, EVERYDAY?

IF God made the 7th DAY of the week his SABBATH and made it a HOLY DAY where no WORK is to be DONE, HOW can you NOT WORK EVERYDAY of the WEEK?

Sola Scriptura (On God's Word alone). Let's be honest here, who do you really follow? God's WORD or your Catholic tradition?

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12).

If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if
we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Lovegodforever, why won't you answer my questions about Jesus? In Matthew 12, Mark 2, and Luke 6; the Pharisees asked Jesus and His disciples why they were being unlawful on the Sabbath. In Matthew, He told them they were condemning the guiltless. So why do you claim to use the Bible to condemn those who don't agree with your view on the fourth commandment? And Paul CV clearly states in Colossians 2 that we are to let no man judge us in meat, drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. If you actually expect anyone here to listen, you must argue against Christ Jesus and the apostle Paul. I believe you will not, because you cannot.
