Some of the older men in church (here in Scotland) greet females with a kiss on the cheek.
I was a bit startled at first, now I find it cute

:)
As I have seen, by other ppl´s eyes: They also enjoy being kissed and to kiss.

I know an old man, near my hometown, who feels alive each time he kisses a young (or old) woman... He is on his late 70´s.

What makes it "holy" as oppose to just a greeting kiss?

Hmm.. Just thinking about Judas. Is it something to do with Judas? The intention? I dunno.
Each time I see Jesus paying a visit into Lazarus´house I see kisses all around.

Children came to kiss Jesus and the apostles each of those holy feast.

I see Mary and Martha hugging the Lord and Lazarus! hugging to kiss the One who brought him back, to this TEMPORAL life.

Question......What makes a kiss holy?
Intent! Intent ought to be to love God fully and love others.

Intent compared to ritual or putting on a mask for others to see how totally awesome I am.

BTW, was this the original question put in a way that I now understand what bowharp was asking? I'm a little thick, so up to now, I was thinking, "Ummmm, I dunno."

Um, you are aware that to many of the younger folks, you are the old man, right? Kid? lol

I´m not that old man! But I like him, since he´s still being naive and tells his love stories, a way I enjoy. (He doesn´t brag on those things, by the way)

The one I dearly enjoy kissing or being kissed is my little daughter.

Whenever I vist her mother´s house I asked her "a kiss I would never forget", so she stamped a kiss on both cheeks.

I frequently say: "This was not well felt". Give me another, I won´t forget.

It produces me such a joy and, by the way, she was born -a day- I would not celebrate (except becasue she was born that day): February the 14th.

When I grow older (and cold) I wish I had the exact memory of these days I enjoy watching her to be the girl she´s going to be.

:)

Is this considered an un-holy kiss? Luke 22:47

47While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” - Luke 22:47

Would this considered an un-holy kiss then?

Would a holy kiss, be the opposite?

Like not betraying your fellow christians and Jesus?

How many time we have kissed (a brother or a sister) to sell them out to sordid things or ill-biased critics?

Do you know that the "handshake" that sealed contracts back then was to put your hand between the other man's legs, and squeeze his leg just below the crotch? Can you wrap your "Western" mind around THAT?
Yes, it really puts the testes in 'testimony', doesn't it? I can't imagine doing that nowadays. Heck, no!

Want to get even more of a cultural shock? You know how those guys were always making such a big deal out of a TRUE Jew being circumcised? Just HOW DO YOU THINK A NEW GUY IN TOWN "PROVED" TO EVERYONE WHO MIGHT QUESTION HIM THAT HE WAS ACTUALLY CIRCUMCISED?

I doubt they carried <CIRCUMCISED> cards, or had medical identification bracelets.

Yikes! You're right. What are we doing? Don't read the Bible, it has too much public nudity! ;)

A kiss is holy if it is give with agape love.....unconditionally unexpected unselfish love that wants the one you kiss or hug to be happy and fully blessed by God.

We are to greet each other as beloved ones and not strangers who just walk on by without truly engaging the other person.

The greatest gift can not be bought: time spent with loved ones.

I kissed a brother in the Lord at his suggestion (I young, naive) and found it highly over-rated

I´m glad my mom shows she doesn´t like being kissed.

Once in a while I kissed her, while hugging, and she acts as grumpily as she knows but, at the buttom of her heart, she is as everybody is: All we need love.

I was just reading my bible and I pondered about the verse, "Greet one another with a holy kiss". 2 Corinthians 12 What's a holy kiss? Is it like a side cheek kiss or actually means something else?

I've never heard of it in my life. :(

Yes as you and some others have said it is when you give another a kiss on the cheek, as the Apostles administered this when greeting one another in that way.......

All apostles?

Administration, as part of their ministry to the Lord Jesus?

I doubt it!

Let´s say John was a hugger but, to me, Paul looked like a grumpy man (Act 15:39 Paul and Barnabas argued, then each of them went his own way. Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus,
Act 15:40 but Paul took Silas and left after the followers had placed them in God's care.).

But, seriously.... think about it. I imagine there are scores of things we se a certain way that weren't written with THAT intent, at all. We really do mess up a lot of Scripture interpretation with our Western thinking.... kind of blindly concluding the Bible can ONLY mean things in light of our modern Western thinking and understanding.

Truly, what they followed in the Bible was an EASTERN RELIGION. And, frankly.... to us, Eastern religions seem weird and strange. Look at the way we react to the call to prayer, to mention only one facet that is so different from what we consider "normal worship."
