I was just reading my bible and I pondered about the verse, "Greet one another with a holy kiss". 2 Corinthians 12 What's a holy kiss? Is it like a side cheek kiss or actually means something else?

I've never heard of it in my life. :(

Sometimes when I greet my close brothers in Christ I kiss them on the side of the neck as we go in for a hug.
They're used to it now :D lol

An undetached kiss?

Free from lust
Free from 2nd intentions
Dear and warm, probably the way I kiss my daughter.

The best way to know "it" could be reading how Corintians were (or Romans used to be)
but a kiss not in its sexy ways.

What makes it "holy" as oppose to just a greeting kiss?

Hmm.. Just thinking about Judas. Is it something to do with Judas? The intention? I dunno.

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
I think the word 'kiss' in the above verse means a loving holy agreement in the spirit or some such thing, involving trust and keeping faith in him. If it meant a physical kiss that would be hard for most believers because Jesus in the physical form of around two thousand years ago is not encountered in the present, except in the physical form of other believers. How could God tell us all to kiss the Son physically then? We can kiss each other with a holy kiss and we can kiss the Son, but it must mean primarily spiritually.

for me, it's a way that I can share my love for our Saviour when He puts precious ones
in my life.

Holy means that some things are set apart for our Father's use -
(Be you Holy as I Am Holy).

What makes the kiss Holy is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and His guidance/influence on the intention for the kiss. It is not a full body press, lip lock, tongue wrestling contest.

For me, folks can simply touch cheeks if they want........and before Crossnote says anything, YES........Face cheeks.......shake hands, or men loosely embrace men and women, women........

Some people are not comfortable with such, so one should not impose this custom upon them.

Remember: This is a "custom," not a Biblical Commandment.

Some of the older men in church (here in Scotland) greet females with a kiss on the cheek.
I was a bit startled at first, now I find it cute

I think you mean: 2Co 13:12

the command is repeated in: Ro 16:16,1Co 16:20, and 1Th 5:26; and restated in 1Pe 5:14.

IMO, a Holy Kiss is any honest display of true affection between 2 believers regardless of gender; without any sexual or lustful component.

"kiss the Son less He be angry".. its symbolic language speaking of acceptance of one another.

I think we may miss so much of the true intent of the Bible by not fully understanding that those were ALL "Eastern" societies, cultures, and religions back then..... including Christianity.

Do you know that the "handshake" that sealed contracts back then was to put your hand between the other man's legs, and squeeze his leg just below the crotch? Can you wrap your "Western" mind around THAT?

Question......What makes a kiss holy?
That I had washed (and brushed) my mouth
That I had a clean breath
that I have it warm, those ways kids have written they wanted to keep that exhalation in a bottle, to be never forgotten.
