How do I not let sign reign my mortal body? When 1 sin is enough to cause sin to reign in the mortal body.

Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Go to Jesus Christ at that throne of grace for that.

Put your all your hope and confidence in Him to finish His work in you....to destroy the work of the devil in your life in helping you lay aside every weight & sin by getting rid of those provisions for the flesh that would fulfill the lusts thereof, walk away from that which feeds the flesh whatever you are viewing and listening to or thinking of..., and lean on Him to put your mind on good things.

1 John 3:[SUP]3 [/SUP]And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.....[SUP]8 [/SUP]He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Philippians 1:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:....[SUP]11 [/SUP]Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

James 1:[SUP]12 [/SUP]Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.[SUP] 13 [/SUP]Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:[SUP] 14 [/SUP]But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.[SUP]15 [/SUP]Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.[SUP]16 [/SUP]Do not err, my beloved brethren.

1 Corinthians 10:[SUP]12 [/SUP]Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.[SUP] 13 [/SUP]There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Hebrews 2:[SUP]18 [/SUP]For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Psalm 19:[SUP]12 [/SUP]Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.[SUP] 13 [/SUP]Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.[SUP]14 [/SUP]Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

Philippians 4:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.[SUP] 7 [/SUP]And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.[SUP] 8 [/SUP]Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.[SUP]9 [/SUP]Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

2 Timothy 4:[SUP]18 [/SUP]And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:[SUP]24 [/SUP]Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,[SUP]25 [/SUP]To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

I am going to have to disagree with you because 1 sin is enough to cause a person to become a servant to sin. How does a person become a servant to righteousness and not let sin reign in their mortal body? When we sin more than we can count every day?
Do you really sin more each day than you can count? I would say that those that have been born again are now sinning less than they had in the past each day, and depending on one's spiritual walk eventually only an occasional stumble. For those times we tell God that we are sorry and then move forward from that point. I would have to question whether a person is a born again Christian when that person is consumed by sin on a daily basis.

Beta, you didn't answer where you get the idea that the Law can be separated into parts you can ignore and parts you believe everyone is still under.

Is that idea from men or can you show it from scripture?

All you said was "it is separable" according to yourself. Which would be, "teachings of men" untill you can show us from scripture....?

I would say that since it appears obvious that you intend to disagree with anything anyone posts, I would say that you might as well accept the fact that you are doomed to let sin reign in you forever.
I am going to disagree with you there because you don't know me. It's one thing to have different beliefs about the Bible which is every Christian. But it is another to be disrespectful..

Hyper-grace false gospel-izers have to seek to change word definitions and context of holy Scripture to support their error. Thus the OP.

You will never win an argument with them; they are not interested in truth, they are interested only in propagation of their Antinomianism and twisted gospel.

There is a huge difference between a believer having sinned, and of sin reigning in ones body. But, that won't work, this properly defining things biblically, they will not listen to reason from the Word. The Word will not be allowed to correct them.
Before I talk about anything anymore with you about the Bible. How about you learn to have some respect?

The fact is I would have to be sinless in order to not let sin reign in my mortal body. So how do I not let sin reign in my mortal body? When I am sinning everyday more than I can count in my mortal body.
No. That is not testifying to being sinless, but to not let have sin dominion over you that you would be a slave to sin.

Romans 6:[SUP]12 [/SUP]Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.[SUP] 13 [/SUP]Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.[SUP] 14 [/SUP]For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.[SUP] 15 [/SUP]What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.[SUP] 16 [/SUP]Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?[SUP] 17 [/SUP]But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.[SUP] 18 [/SUP]Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.[SUP] 19 [/SUP]I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.[SUP] 20 [/SUP]For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.[SUP] 21 [/SUP]What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.[SUP] 22 [/SUP]But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.[SUP] 23 [/SUP]For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

In other words, say you are viewing porn. You chose to do this, and so therefore you believe you are in control. BUT when you think "Enough of this", you find that it has a hold on you. You cannot stop. You close your eyes and you be thinking of something else but the images just keeps coming.

So then.. what do you do? You go to Jesus for help. You get rid of the porn; stop feeding the wolf in you; set your mind on other things, trusting Jesus Christ to keep your mind on other things, and keep you from being foolish again to allow desire or circumstances to provoke or tempt you to use that "escape" again which only seeks to enslave you.

That is called running the race, looking to the author & finisher of our faith to help us lay side every weight & sin.

To say that no saved believer can ever sin, then why did Jesus taught us to pray to the Father to forgive us of our trespasses as we are to forgive others of theirs? Why pray to Him to not lead us into temptation but to deliver us from the evil one? Why say if we do not forgive others of their trespasses, the Father will not forgive is of ours?

Running that race is a daily denying of self to relying on Him all the time for help in walking in the light as He has done.

The apostle John was writing to some believers that had thought sin has ceased to be sin and therefore it did not matter how they had lived, but he reproved them in that wise.

1 John 1:[SUP]3 [/SUP]That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.[SUP] 4 [/SUP]And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.[SUP] 6 [/SUP]If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:[SUP] 7 [/SUP]But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.[SUP] 8 [/SUP]If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.[SUP] 9 [/SUP]If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.[SUP] 10 [/SUP]If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 2:1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:[SUP] 2 [/SUP]And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Do not overlook verse 9. That is a testimony that believers can and still do sin, but it is not inferring that they are to worry about it because they can go before that throne of grace for help not to sin again and to walk in the light rather than just asking for forgiveness.

So it all depends on what you look to Him for; as a license to live in sin or freedom from having sin's power over your life?

As it is; we can only live this reconciled relationship with God through Jesus Christ by faith in Him as our Good Shepherd.

Saved believers should beware the cost of procrastinating of going to Him for help in repenting from sins.

2 Peter 2:[SUP]9 [/SUP]The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:[SUP] 10 [/SUP]But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.....
[SUP]17 [/SUP]These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. [SUP]19 [/SUP]While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 20For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. [SUP]21 [/SUP]For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. [SUP]22 [/SUP]But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

So while the door to the marriage Supper is still open, may every saved believer and former believer go before that throne of grace for help to depart from iniquity because when the Bridegroom comes at the pre trib rapture event, those not walking in the light in reaping corruption may find themselves left behind to be received later on as vessels unto dishonor in His House after the great tribulation.

As it is, running that race is always ongoing in laying aside every weight & sin that seeks to have dominion over us, but our hope is in Christ in keeping us from falling and to present us faultless to His glory as only He can bring us Home by His righteousness alone.

If my flesh, soul, and spirit were under the law of sin and death then I would be alive in sin and sin would be reigning in my mortal body. However, my flesh is under the covered law of sin and my soul and spirit no under the law of sin and death anymore. Using the laws of God written in my heart show that through substitution atonement sin no longer reigns in my body thanks to the work of God by faith alone without works. It is impossible by myself to not let sin reign in my mortal body and 1 sin is enough to put the flesh, soul, and spirit under the law of sin and death like the first Adam. Therefore one sin would be enough for a person to be alive in sin and let sin reign in their mortal body instead of God. When Adam was sinless he didn't have sin reigning in his body because the Holy Spirit reigned in his body but after Adam sinned 1 time. That was enough to allow sin to reign in his mortal body. The Holy Spirit now reigns in my mortal body and not sin because all of my sin has been put away. My flesh still sins but it has been put away from me where I am no longer alive in it because I am dead to sin and alive to God.

Yes that one verse is not about being sinless but not letting sin reign in our mortal bodies. But I was also stating I would have to be sinless myself in order to not have any sin in my body and thus not let it reign that way. But after sin has been made the only way to become dead to sin and alive to God would be through the work of God where God gives me back my righteousness through faith alone.

so the op starts a thread with a question

yet, it is actually a poll

uhuh

the poll is simply if you agree with me you are right and if you do not agree with me you are wrong

see how easy that was?

I may be told to get some respect

I will respectfully decline as I don't like sneakiness

How do I not let sign reign my mortal body? When 1 sin is enough to cause sin to reign in the mortal body.

Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
If a man enters a land, goes in front of a crowd of people, places a flag, then yells "I now reign here." Would it be true? No, he's not the king of the land- he just got here. He would have to fight the current king, take over the land, and spend some time being boss of the place- then he can say he reigns there.

In the same way, if you sin sparingly here and there, sin has not overtaken you to the point that it reigns and you obey its every temptation. Some people do whatever pops into their head- no self-control whatsoever. I know someone who claims to be a Christian, yet lives as a daily drunk. She smokes, spends, and lives in luxury the best she can. She lives for pleasure, not for God. God does not reign in her life, sin does. She lacks self-control and indulges in denial.

I agree with you on the whole....we should sin 'less every day...not more.

However....there are some very confusing scriptures seemingly impossible to live up to which I feel are the reason for our 'failure to become 'sin-free 1Joh ch 3 for inst ....but

on the other hand it could just be our 'lack of understanding scripture ....not to mention some mis-translations !
Point being that all still sin while in their present life...can that mean that we are NOT YET born again ? I rather suspect it does in spite of people's claim to the contrary.

I am going to disagree with you there because you don't know me. It's one thing to have different beliefs about the Bible which is every Christian. But it is another to be disrespectful..
It's also disrespectful to come into a forum with the intent to stir up dissension with a haughty attitude of "only I have the truth, and I'll prove it by asking a question to which I already (supposedly) know the answer. Then I'll argue continuously with anyone who doesn't regurgitate my answer to me, word for word.."

That demonstrates an immature, combative mentality, which is disruptive, at best.

You had your answer when MarcR responded on the first page, but, you also had your "agenda" to follow.

How has that affected your life on a practicable tangible basis that you can easily explained in a way that can be readily understood?

sigh

good on yah

but this is a discussion forum...not a teaching platform

we discuss things here even though at times it seems some individuals think they are God's gift to the rest of us

the Bible speaks of just 'grace'...if it's God's, it is already pure

finished work of the cross is not one size fits all....means different things to different people...just like the rest of the Bible

the gospel of Christ Jesus and the revelation of Christ Jesus is what the emphasis in scripture actually is

some favor Paul and some favor the Jewish holy days...but it's really all Jesus

The work was finished when he sat down at the right hand of Father.....

teaching the finished work of the cross is wrong and possibly becoming a false teaching...the shedding of blood for the forgiveness of sins and being ransomed from the powers of darkness are the only 2 things the cross did....

When we teach the cross is the starting and stopping point we strand people at the cross and they are looking for something that is not there....they also do not even understand they have to also climb on the cross with Jesus....and then be buried with him and then sit with him in heavenly places...

Victory does not come from the cross...it came from the tomb, when we are raised into newness of life.....just as Christ was...

I am not expecting all hell to come at me for delving into deep truth.

by believing v14 "For sin shall not have dominion over you..". Since sin does not have dominion, therefore it cannot rule over you: continuing in willful and deliberate sin is voluntary, just as is repenting when we sin voluntary; it is a matter of denying our own will, and submitting to and relying upon God's will by His Word. When we become born of God we will no longer put our trust into the hands and power of sin; but will turn from that and turn to put our trust into the hands and power of God. We may indeed fall several times, but we shall rise right back up in sincerity toward God, because we no longer trust sin: contrariwise it is the wicked when they fall, they fall into mischief.
