God speaks to me through Trials and Tribulations. during the Valleys, we seek after God earnestly and hungrily. the lessons we learned in our dry season have always benefited me once He brought me up to the mountain top.

and it seems when He has something new to tell me or teach me, a new obstacle that only He can fix/solve/conquer appears.

Burning bush? a Cloud? a pillar of fire? Thunderings and Lightnings? a Light so bright it knocks you of your horse and blinds you for 3 three days? a still small voice? These are all scriptural, and what is that hallowed ground we are to tread with Him? oh, and who is it? John 14:18,26, John 15:26, John 16:13, Acts 20:28, Galatians 4:6, Eph 4:21, 2 Cor 3:17, 1 John 2:20,27, and so many more

Lets see God has never can never change. Christ came died rose AMEN so that connection so to speak became greater. Just look at the NT how did He work act talk to them then? Luke 11:13 .. the 120 waited for the promise. Then He the sweet holy Spirit GOD will lead and guide us into all truth. We know He the holy Spirit (GOD) talks since its written Holy Spirit talks as He did in the OT :)

God speaks directly into our minds, which He has complete access to. He will sometimes speak to those who are not listening, but He usually requires us to set aside special time just for Him. Please know that He does not want you to wait until you get to Heaven to begin talking to Him. He desires personal communion with all of you now.

Revelation 3:20

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

No. I beg you to seek a closer walk with Jesus today. Start speaking with Him today. He desires personal communion with all His children. He has placed His Spirit within you. Please acknowledge Him and listen as He seeks to guide you. Prayer will be so much more meaningful once you acknowledge and sense His presence. You must take that first step of faith and open that door.

Revelation 3:20

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

He speaks in all the ways He always has in Scripture, He is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
We must learn to hear Him.
Jesus didn't say "my sheep read my book", He said "My sheep know my voice".

Hebrews chapter 1 ...."God, who [a]at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son..." God is speaking to us through the man Jesus Christ...so lets read the scripture first thats how God speaks to us plainly and if you delve in deeply, the Holy spirit will come upon you and you will fulfill the prophecy of Joel

Many great answers here. The Bible contains the gist of what God wanted to reveal, but there’s a million different answers about what these 66 books say.

So we’re back to square one needing a tiebreaker so we aren’t utterly confusing each other and leading each other astray. That’s where I believe the Holy Spirit may intervene. Unfortunately, we may have hundreds of people telling us a million conflicting things the Holy Spirit said.

I can’t tell you how many times I walked away from a Bible discussion feeling like I was worse off than I started, completely disoriented, and tied in a knot. Meanwhile there’s typically a dozen or so people fully convinced in their own mind. Sometimes I think being convinced in our own mind is about as good as it’ll get.

The truth seems like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes. I would much rather prefer God just tell me exactly what's going on. God can speak in a still small voice.
