John 16. Jesus is giving the parting instructions to the disciples and explains that when holy spirit comes He will guide, speak and show. Only one of those is His voice speaking to us, we must learn to perceive all three which He is doing all the time.:):coffee:(y);)

Hebrews chapter 1 ...."God, who [a]at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son..." God is speaking to us through the man Jesus Christ...so lets read the scripture first thats how God speaks to us plainly and if you delve in deeply, the Holy spirit will come upon you and you will fulfill the prophecy of Joel

Many great answers here. The Bible contains the gist of what God wanted to reveal, but there’s a million different answers about what these 66 books say.

So we’re back to square one needing a tiebreaker so we aren’t utterly confusing each other and leading each other astray. That’s where I believe the Holy Spirit may intervene. Unfortunately, we may have hundreds of people telling us a million conflicting things the Holy Spirit said.

I can’t tell you how many times I walked away from a Bible discussion feeling like I was worse off than I started, completely disoriented, and tied in a knot. Meanwhile there’s typically a dozen or so people fully convinced in their own mind. Sometimes I think being convinced in our own mind is about as good as it’ll get.

The truth seems like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes. I would much rather prefer God just tell me exactly what's going on. God can speak in a still small voice.
I understand what you are saying, the Bible does answer it again and again, which concludes simply to seek God because God wants all to know Him. God gives us a metal detector to find Him, His word. :)

Absolutely, and to be made free, John 14:21,23, very similar to John 10:27-29, and what is being
spoken of in John 8:32,36 as well, again confirming it in 1 John 2:20,21,27. ty for sharing ma'am :)

John 8:36 plus Romans 8:2 If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.

God speaks directly into our minds, which He has complete access to. He will sometimes speak to those who are not listening, but He usually requires us to set aside special time just for Him. Please know that He does not want you to wait until you get to Heaven to begin talking to Him. He desires personal communion with all of you now.

Revelation 3:20

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
how can we know if we’re hearing a demonic voice in our heads or the holt spirits ? Or even our own thoughts ?

many cults begin believing someone is hearing directly from God in their mind and then are appointed and called to lead people through that revelation and annointing.

so is there any way we can make sure what we are hearing is actually coming from God d we aren’t just imagining things or creating our own thoughts or even being influenced by Satan ? Is there anything we have tangibly that can keep us in line with knowing Gods voice from the worlds thinking and ideas in our head ? And never will lead us astray ?

I believe God also speaks through world events.

God spoke through Hitler, every one's attitude toward Jews was affected. It brought about the fulfillment of prophecy as the Jews began returning to Israel.

Even though many Christians are unaware that God spoke through the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls, they brought about an awareness of God's messages to us in the OT that wasn't there not many years ago. Many Christian leaders reacted to that finding, what they did about it affects the church, even if many Christians deny them. I am 97 years old, nearly a 100, and this is one of the changes in the world that has happened during my time here. Even the word Messianic simply wasn't used.

God did not create humans to be robots, Man has been given free will but the Lord speaks to us through the actions God allows man to have. Christians have tremendous power through their prayers and actions. Christians need to look at the world to see if they are using that power effectively.

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:19-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the scriptures are a record of what the holy spirit has said when we hear and believe then this happens

“and be renewed in the spirit of your mind;”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We need to hear and believe the scriptures to learn to hear the Holy Spirit and let them change our minds

“and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:15-17‬ ‭

All I mean to say is if the Holy Spirit is teaching us anything contrary to scripture we can identify an issue

Holy Spirit guides, speaks, and shows, according to Jesus, and never conflicts with scripture of course.
Sticking only to our own interpretation can lead to leaning on ones own understanding, which we are clearly warned about.:):coffee:

the Bible confirms this as well, and simply put, passes knowledge.

It's a great start, and like salvation, we must not rest there, The indwelling Holy Spirit guides His Own to do greater works than He, those who rest on salvation without ongoing, vital relationship doing what the Father does, and speaking what we hear the Father say are missing out as Jesus Himself said many would .

amen the Holy Spirit will always be in line with the gospel

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:23-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There’s also his name ?

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭

“When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭19:5‬ ‭

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the Holy Spirit is Jesus it’s his spirit

“And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s what makes us the children of God we receive the spirit of his son, there’s one name applicable to the father son and holy ghost

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:9‬

whatever the holy ghost does for us , it’s what Jesus is doing for us they are one

I have heard it shared from a brother that he at times can differentiate between God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit ministering to him.
Anyone here relate to this?:unsure::)

Did the brother distinguish the ministry according to scripture or by the experience itself? In other words did he experience heaviness over his sin and equate that with the ministry of the Spirit in convicting the world of sin as Bible asserts or did he mean he could distinguish the difference between members of the godhead in their individual presence?

One thing I've thought on these lines - How is it that God spoke seemingly directly to His people and not today? Also - did He speak only to His "anointed" ones (Moses, Abraham, etc.), or did His other adherents hear Him?
Do His chosen ones today hear Him in the way people in the OT did?
What about the likes of Paul? - he seemed to "get a lot" from the Lord. How did God communicate with him?

According the Jesus Holy Spirit would guide each of us as He obeys the will of the Father and the Son, if I understood his message correctly it opened the possibility that each of the three can minister and of course only harmony with each other.:)

So yes, He does indeed speak to His Own today as He did then.
According to Job we need to perceive it, it is a learning and growing thing all our lives and beyond.

If we can't hear Him, the problem is NOT on His end.
