Well, I personally see no mention of the earth being 4.5 billion years. I prefer to go by what i do see of the number of years mentioned in the Bible, though, for earth's history. Though in heaven, indeed, time is eternal - endless! And equally eternal for those who will be in hell! How fortunate those are who die in the Lord, as they will live eternally with God in heaven!
Can I ask, what exactly does eternal life with God in heaven look like? What happens, day by day? I just want to understand because I find it hard to imagine living forever with God in heaven.

God said in the bible that we can't even begin to imagine what God has is in store for those that love Him. Glad to have you join the conversation. Welcome to CC.

I ate Chinese yesterday. Since there was a lot I also ate Chinese tonight. I will not eat Chinese tomorrow. I would much rather eat a bologna sandwich with mustard (French's).
You will want to try putting EL Fenix Hot Sauce on a bologna sandwich at least once in your life. I think you will hear the angles sing. I like it with a slice of American Cheese also. My mom made it for me when I was a kid growing up in Dallas. This is the only way I will eat bologna today.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Welcome to CC, WG3! Many things are not revealed to us. The Bible just states that we are to live by faith, and not by sight. Do we believe that God is good. Do we believe that He loves us? Do we believe that He is preparing a wonderful home for us?

John
14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.

My wife would probably enjoy this product as she likes hot & spicy foods. I do enjoy Dijon mustard though. My mom used to make me fried bologna and American cheese sandwiches too. Nobody can cook like Moms can. That is a fact.

Having a little difficulty telling the sauce from the source.

Ok, so no one knows what eternal life with God will be like? I just wonder why hasnt he told us? I mean if he made it clear to all the people on earth how great it was going to be if they believe and follow him it would be so much easier for everyone, and there would be world peace and love and no more fighting. Why does it have to be such a mystery?

It would not matter one bit how God would describe heaven as the bible states that things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better. World peace is a pipe dream that is not going to happen until Jesus returns to set up His kingdom. Rather than love there is more hate in the world. It will get even more hateful.

It does say that there will be no more tears in heaven. That would be a good place to start in the imagination.

It does not matter what God would say in the bible as there will still be those that reject Jesus and the sacrifice for their sins. I believe that something similar is mentioned in the book of Luke in a story about the rich man and the beggar.

I like that sauce from the source part though. I might just use that in a post or two. I'm always looking for new material.

God is not like the man who lures little children with a piece of candy. God will not force you in, neither will He lure you. Jesus died for you to provide a way. You must choose to surrender to Him and His will for your life, or go your own way and do your own thing. There is no middle ground. If you do not want to spend eternity with Jesus, then you will have to spend eternity without Him. He's got the whole world in His hands. If you want to spend eternity where the situation is otherwise, then He will allow you to walk away and neglect such great salvation.

The BibLe tells us that eternal life in Heaven is very good, and that eternal death in Hell is very bad. Please choose life.

Read Revelation 21-22 a little long for me to post both chapters here. This will give you something to start with.

And in addition to what Tourist said, if people do not believe by reading the scriptures they will not believe even if someone comes back from the dead and tells them what the place of torment is like for those who die in their sins. Or what heaven is like.
Luke 16
I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Many like to say that this is only a parable, as if it being a parable somehow changes the lesson. The lesson whether it is literal or a parable is still the same... That there is a place of torment for those who die in their sins and if they read the scriptures and believe them they can be warned and not go to the place of torment, but if they do not believe the scriptures about the place of torment that awaits those that die in their sins, then they will not believe or change their lifestyles if someone comes back from the dead and warns them of the place of torment that awaits them.

A description of a happy hereafter is not going to keep you from yielding to the pleasures of sin for a season. You will need to be born again by the Spirit of God to conquer the lusts of your flesh.

Thanks, interesting. I cried when my son was born, was a difficult birth, I didnt know if he was going to make it, life without tears, find it hard to imagine. If we all follow Jesus' example surely the world will have more love and less hate?

When people ask about christianity and science and how they appear to contradict.

my answer?

Noah’s catastrophic flood, which changed the appearance of the earth in so many ways. All wee see, the strata, the fossils, the canyons, the mountains, can all be explained by one verse which started it all

genesis 7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, theseventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of The great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

I will recommend to you this book - HEAVEN

There are many places in scripture, which speaks of Heaven, and of the activity that 'daily' goes on there. Start with the book, and if you want, I can show you from scripture if you want the details of it.

Myrtle Trees asked

HOW OLD IS THE EARTH?

What is it to you? For what purpose do you want to know? If your reason is right, ask the all knowing Holy Spirit for the real truth otherwise it will be all speculations and your guess is as good as mine. Scientists speculate too.

Wellll...? Technically.. dirt is formed by ....Over hundreds of years, rocks break down into tiny grains, and these small grains, mixed with plant and animal matter — decayed roots, leaves, dead bugs and worms, and other organic matter thrown in, along with water and air — is what we call dirt or soil. ... so therefore, it would depend on which dirt you were talking about as some dirt might be younger than other dirt. :p
Yeah. Didn’t ya know?
God had to sit around and wait a couple millennia at least to pick some dirt up to make Adam!

Geology surprisingly has some arguments to support a young earth. It could be either, or. I am wondering too. Many Christians get very ugly to Christian evolutionists and like to understand the Bible only a certain boxed way because they have to have all the answers even if they don't. Either way intelligent design proves God made us, so I don't understand why the hostility. People who just come in to bash you for asking the question should be ignored. If someone is curious and would like to know something, they ask a question, it's human nature wired into us to ask the question even if we know we likely won't get a definite answer.

Christian WHAT???
Yes, you read well. Some people do not believe that the Bible and theory of evolution contradict. I am not excluding that possibility either, and really don't care what people think about it - neither of us had been there. I can't say the Earth is 6000 or whatever years old with the same certainty that I say yes "Jesus Christ is Son of God, Father sent Him to save us".
If anything, while evolution lacks in fossils to definitely prove their theory imo, I think most of us will agree that adaptation is definitely true and scientifically proven. Adaptation or microevolution is observable. And Biblically, that's how the "kinds" of animals diversified into many species from Noah's ark. Noah didn't pack 5 zillion animals, he packed pairs of various kinds like the Bible says, that later diversified themselves into many species.
