Jesus started his ministry at age 30 and died at age 33....Jesus fulfilled the law perfectly.
Numbers 4 tells us in several places that a Priest working in the Tent of the meeting/Tabernacle started at age 30...
Number 4.3:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]from thirty years and upward, even to fifty years old, all who enter the service to do the work in the tent of meeting.
Numbers 4.23:
[SUP]23 [/SUP]from thirty years and upward to fifty years old, you shall number them; all who enter to perform the service to do the work in the tent of meeting.
Numbers 4.30
[SUP]30 [/SUP]from thirty years and upward even to fifty years old, you shall number them, everyone who enters the service to do the work of the tent of meeting.
Had Jesus began his ministry before age 25, he would have violated the Law in Numbers 8. Had he started at age 29, he would have violated the law in Numbers 4..
Anyone could serve in the tent of meeting from ages 25-50, however you could not be a Priest until age 30....now think about this for a bit and you will understand it...

He had to follow the law, because he was born of the law. If his age had "not mattered" and he began teaching publicly at age 25 they would have legal right to kill him outright...

Of course Jesus was not a priest,but he is our high priest and the mediator of a better covenant right?
Hebrews could not have been written if Jesus started his ministry before age 30..

Tradition holds he was 30 when he began his ministry, 33 when he died.
The numbers should probably be taken with a few grains of salt, as they say - three being a particularly powerful number in Jewish folklore and religion, and of course numerology in general.
A number of studies have been done to try and ascertain a more accurate age based on various things (Pontius Pilate's years in Jerusalem, Jesus's birth year based on historical records of Herod's reign, etc., etc.) - I don't think anything came of the studies other than that he was somewhere between 30 and 45-ish, something like that.
