And those visitor cards, what??
worse? 'would visitors please stand so we can say hi?'

or use you for target practice

or ask if you intend coming back

or would like a signed copy of your autobiography

I do believe all of us should agree on the essentials: The inspiration and authority of Scripture; the Trinity; the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ; His substitutionary death on the cross; His bodily resurrection; His bodily second coming; and, salvation by grace through faith alone, apart from works.
I'd add Christ's ascension back to heaven because we're in big trouble without that and we need to know what that has opened up for us as far as access to the throne of grace is concerned. In fact, I was contemplating starting a thread on that earlier today and I might in the future.

I'd also ask for a clear definition of salvation by grace through faith alone, apart from works because that obviously means different things to different people.

I'd also include the need for the new birth or to be born again and indwelt with the Spirit of God which is a must according to Jesus.

I'm glad that you're making a conscious effort for positive change around here. Whether or not this alone will resolve the problem, time will tell. I must confess that I have my doubts. No matter what we believe, our actions must ultimately align themselves with the same. In other words, faith without works truly is dead in at least this regard. If our belief in Christ's atonement and our professed new birth doesn't change the way that we behave, then it's just a bunch of hooey. We'll ultimately know a tree by its fruit.

Guess that would be a bad time to get you to fill out the "where are you willing to serve" sheet

I'd give this post a rep, but I'm out of reps for Ember. I know what I'm about to suggest is a little off topic but sort of addresses this.
Why can't there be not only an ignore button available for all to use, but also a 'barring' button available for those who start a thread? That way they can prevent the participation in that particular thread of those they deem as divisive. Of course the door swings both ways but still I think it might work.
Great idea. It should go to the suggestion forum, where it might actually catch Robo-op's attention; and the many of us who agree can add our likes to bring it to Robo-op's attention more strongly.

I've been thinking about this thread. I think we need to promote the fruits of the Spirit. I think that would really help unity.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." Gal. 5:22-23

i think he's pretty busy with site maintenance and live chat features at the moment.

however, he always responds to PMs and (live) chatted with me this morning for over an hour.

he's a very dear man. :)

From my experience, the Christian who is focused on " YOU shouldn't do that." Is doing the same thing and often times something even worse. Its takes the focus off of what we are doing and transfers the focus to someone else and allows us to justify our own actions.

So they can't let it go, until they let it go in their own lives.

The Christian who lives as, " I am what I am by the grace of God." Doesn't worry much about someone else's behavior.
My Brother, I know you are so right, but when Pharisees spew their stench of arrogance, condemning everyone for falling short of the glory of God, I simply can not help myself. I'm like a crack addict that needs to humble them with Truth. That's my only fix.

Self control...an area that I could do much better in. I tend get after my kids more the situation requires at times. I like this verse in 1 Peter 1:13

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Seriously, what's going on around here? I have my suspicions as to what happened, but I hope that I'm terribly wrong.

I am right there with you Brother. This is one area that I will find myself getting in the trenches. And I TRY not to go past........You brood of vipers.

This is a serious doctrinal issue, so I really don't have a problem letting the fangs show a bit.

But if people want to smoke, cuss, drink and live immoral.......thats between them and the Lord.

PS. I still have a GOOD cigar, my mouth is a lot better than it used to be and I love a bitter IPA.
