I'm not telling you to read his book lol, but personally I love reading of people who understand what romans 6:14 is saying and explain why Paul wrote what he did.
I will let Scripture interpret Scripture, thank you.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give you., that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
Romans 5:5 KJVS
[5] And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 7:7-11 interprets rom6:14 quite well. Paul shows from those verses an example of why he had to die to a law of righteousness

I don't even know where you are going with all this.
You don't even know my view on 6:14.

No one said otherwise. But one would grow faster if they had a proper understanding of it.

Romans 6:14 KJVS
[14] For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Absolutely. A person will grow faster I they have a proper understanding of rom6:14

If ever a single verse of Paul's could sum up his core message of grace that would be it, alongside rom 3:31

I wouldn't need to know your view to write what you have responded to. If you don't know where I am going with the link of ron7:7-11& rom6:14 I guess yours and my understanding on this is different

I would never try to pare down Paul's presentation of grace to one or two verses, it is so rich that would do it a horrible disservice

Nope, I haven't tried to guess your view at all, just gave you an opinion of mine. I couldn't know your view as all you have done is quote the scripture, not explained your view of it

.
It is not a horrible disservice to say Paul's core message of grace could be summed up in one verse rom6:14

What could be more important in the christian walk than understanding why sin shall not be your master?

Our new nature reflects God's nature/law.
We are to walk according to our new nature.
Sin may trip us up at times but it will never have dominion over us because we have died to the law and sin.

That does not explain why sin shall not be your master for you are not under law but under grace.

In rom7:7-11 Paul gives a personal example from his own life as to why he had to die to a law of righteousness. The truth in those verses is potent, and goes a long way to explaining rom6:14

One thing that is more important is that Jesus is our Savior and Lord.

We know that at conversion. But what is more important in the christian walk than an understanding of sin not being your master"

Well I had, and this is why sin will not have domnion...

Romans 8:3 KJVS
[3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Romans 7:4 KJVS
[4] Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Romans 6:6-7 KJVS
[6] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him , that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. [7] For he that is dead is freed from sin.

More important? Jesus is your Lord.
As the Dylan song went..."ya gotta serve somebody".

Rom 7:5 is good too

For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies so that we bore fruit for death

Anyway, as I said I liked JP book, for he did not just quote scripture but look into a little why rom 6:14 is true, what is the thinking behind it
