PLEASE CAN PEOPLE RESPECTFULLY READ THIS BEFORE
POSTING ANTHING ELSE. ( Ps I'm not shouting I just wanted it to
stand out a bit).

A young man starts a thread to enquire about baptism - good on him.
If others want to start arguing and debating infant/adult baptism
The effects, signs or otherwise of baptism or anything else other than
what was originally enquired - don't you think you should take this
elsewhere and start your own thread.

Please stop debating and arguing on this young man's thread. We need to
be a blessing to him and encourage him and give him direction.
Can we all agree on this - please. :)

Ps I'm not a mod but please think of the struggles you went through when you
were considering baptism. it really would not have helped to have a group of
Christian adults arguing with each other about it.

Sam you have been given a lot of good advice - pray about it and see if you
can speak to your church pastor or family, I'm sure they can help you too. :)

God bless

Miri,

I don't believe anyone is arguing.
The young man had already decided to be baptised and has been given excellent advice and guidance. I believe he even stated he'd heard enough. It is why we have moved on.

Yes, sir!

Joh 5:16 They started making a lot of trouble for Jesus because he did things like this on the Sabbath.
Joh 5:17 But Jesus said, "My Father has never stopped working, and that is why I keep on working."

But not all have had the blessing to be "present" to eager witnessing.

Dont be scared! If you truly came to Christ with a contrite heart and you asked Christ to save you because he is the only way to the Father;do not doubt it. Baptism is symbolic of the burying of your past life. It is outward profession that you are reborn again!! Be encouraged!! Praise the LORD> Id advise you to get alone with God before you are baptized (hours before) and pray pray pray. Ask that the Holy Spirit give you a heavy anointing!

Unfortunately, sometimes the church neglects to tell a new convert that the minute you run towards Christ and answer the call of the spirit that draws; satan is on your heels injecting doubt and fear! You were once walking with him (because he is the god of this world) and now you are NOT. The Battle begins. Be a diligent student of Gods word. Gods Holy word we are continually transforms us until one day we are with Christ and we are finally glorified! . The Holy Spirit READS US when we apply ourselves to study the Living Word.
Romans 12:2

[SUP]2 [/SUP]Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

2Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Armor of God

[SUP]10 [/SUP]Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. [SUP]12 [/SUP]For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. [SUP]14 [/SUP]Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, [SUP]15 [/SUP]and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. [SUP]16 [/SUP]In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. [SUP]17 [/SUP]Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Luke 15:10
"In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

May the grace of God abide in us all............:)

That would be Romans 13:12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Miri,

Actually, I stated that I was looking for someone who could point me in the direction of one of the scriptures that may be able to help me. What I'd had enough of was the guy that said I wasn't ready for water baptism because I was young and don't 'understand' what it means to accept christ and me baptised

No, you are not too young at all and dont let anyone tell you differently. There is nothing to fear,it will be over before you know it and you will wonder why you were upset at all.

I was nervous too but after the event I wondered what I was so afraid of. I hate being the subject of attention and I think that was a large part of it.

Kaylagirl is quite right it's over in a jiffy and no you aren't too young.

I don't understand how a believer would be afraid to get baptized. I couldn't wait to get baptized after I received Christ through faith. I even gave a 5 minute testimony about how I was deceived by previous churches that I had attended about the plan of salvation but had finally come to accept that salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works. Praise the Lord! :)
