Is Dr. Dino (Kent Hovind) a total joke?

When I was a new Christian, someone showed me the apparent contradictions between the creation accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. According to Genesis 1, God made the trees on day three, the birds from water on day five, and the animals on day six, all before man. But Genesis 2 records the creation of trees, animals, and birds from dirt on day six, all after man. This apparent contradiction disappears when one reads in Genesis 2 that the events in that chapter describe the events regarding the creation of the items in the Garden of Eden only[h=2]Dr. Dino[/h]

God knew Satan could come and say he had created all things if Adam did not actually witness God’s creative power. God made Adam on the sixth day, put him in the garden, made some trees to grow before Adam, then made 1 more of each of the animals so that Adam could name them and select a wife. The rest of the world was already full of plants and animals from earlier in the week.Dr. Dino

Another apparent contradiction appears in I Kings 7:23 and II Chronicles 4, the description of the large bowl called the brazen laver. According to both passages, the laver measures 10 cubits (elbow to fingertip, about 18 inches) across and 30 cubits around, a ratio that does not equal pi (3.14159…) and appears to be not mathematically valid. However, the 10 cubit measurement spans the inside of the bowl; the handbreadth thickness of the brass is included in the diameter which balances the ratio to equal pi very neatly. There are no contradictions in the BibleDr. Dino

just because you think one of hovind's opponents is being a jerk doesn't mean you should automatically endorse hovind...

the fact is that hovind -is- a tax cheat and a fraud and a false teacher...even other creationists like me accept those fact...
Agreed. Now I like Hovind and his theories are very thought provoking and some more than others. But as for paying his debt for tax issues, yes, we all are held accountable to the law of the land. Beyond that sentence, which he's served, the rest of the charges seem very trumped. Then to take in account how his case is being handled......

Yeah. In the end one must still rely on the Word no matter how much you personally agree with anyone, even someone well spoken and also with a Bible.

The Bible teaches that before the flood a canopy of water surrounded the earth. This canopy is mentioned in Gen. 1:6&7, Psalms 148:4 and II Peter 3:5. The Creation Account in Genesis 1 records that a mist that went forth and watered the face of the whole ground. Genesis mentions no other precipitation until the flood brought rain for 40 days and 40 nightsDr. Dino

Many people teach that rain never fell before the flood. Although that is probably true, it cannot be taught dogmatically because the Bible simply does not mention the subject. Possibly if the canopy of water that is mentioned in Genesis 1:6 and 7 increased the air pressure, as many think it did, rain would probably not fall.Dr. Dino

It may be that Noah was preaching that rain would come out of the sky (something that had never happened), and the people laughed just like today when Christians preach that Jesus will come out of the sky (something that has never happened) to catch up all believers in Christ. Dr. Dino

Scientists cannot measure distances beyond 100 light years accurately.Dr. Dino

2. No one knows what light is or that it always travels the same speed throughout all time, space and matter.
3. The creation was finished or mature when God made it. Adam was full-grown, the trees had fruit on them, the starlight was visible, etc.
Let me elaborate on these 3 points.Dr. Dino

First, no one can measure star distance accurately. The farthest accurate distance man can measure is 20 light years (some textbooks say up to 100), not several billion light years. Man measures star distances using parallax trigonometry. By choosing two measurable observation points and making an imaginary triangle to a third point, and using simple trigonometry, man calculates the distance to the third point. The most distant observation points available are the positions of the earth in solar orbit six months apart, say June and December. This would be a base for our imaginary triangle of 186,000,000 miles or 16 light minutes. There are 525,948 minutes in a year.Dr. Dino

A freshly created earth would require about 30,000 years for the amount of C-14 in the atmosphere to reach this point of equilibrium because it would leak out as it is being filled. Tests indicate that the earth has still not reached equilibrium. This would mean the earth is not yet 30,000 years old! This also means that plants and animals that lived in the past had less C-14 in them than do plants and animals today. Just this one fact totally upsets data obtained by C-14 dating.http://web.archive.org/web/20000903024811/http://www.drdino.com/FAQs/FAQscience3.jsp

I have responded to this post before, but here is the latest on the discovery of soft tissue in dinosaur bones:

Scientists Find Soft Tissue in 75-Million-Year-Old Dinosaur Bones — History in the Headlines

You can click on the research paper in the scientific journal which is entitled "Fibers and cellular structures preserved in 75-million-year-old dinosaur specimens."

75-million-year-old you say?

There is nothing in any reputable scientific journals indicating soft tissue in dinosaur bones proves the bones are thousands rather than millions of years old.

Of course Ken Ham said recently he has his own dinosaur bones and is going to prove that they are thousands rather than millions of years old.

No doubt his "evidence" won't be published in a reputable scientific journal.

That's not the way he runs the Ham scams.

Incidentally, why didn't you correct Mitspa about the Septuagint indicating that Methuselah died after the Flood?

I mean, since you went to such great lengths to substantiate that on your own thread.
your argument is circular...'we know the fossils are millions of years old because we know the fossils are millions of years old'...the bones are assumed to be 75 million years old in an old earth framework and you are not accounting for the data but simply reasserting the original assumption in denial of a more parsimonious explanation of the data...

and i try to 'go to great lengths' only once...so if you can find my thread on the reliability of the septuagint versus the reliability of the masoretic text then i assume mitspa can too...but if it will make you happy...here is the link to my old thread which mitspa can read...
