We covered this. I believe this is a parable. That parable is the one and only passage in scripture that gives a reader the idea the soul is immortal. The one and only passage. There's no point in going back over the same territory though. Just saying something is so means nothing. It has to line up with every facet of scripture.

It's not likely the Lazarus story about hades was a parable. If so, it is the only one where Jesus uses an actual person, name and all.

We're supposed to study and show ourselves approved, jimmydiggs. Obviously, the supernatural things we can't understand God doesn't require us to try to understand, such as exactly how He created life to start with. What He put in scripture though, I get the impression we're suppose to try to understand.
Explain to me how a donkey talks, and bones walk. "Oh noes, that doesn't make sense to me, therefor it's not really real."

This clearly shows you don't understand a thing I'm saying. Wow.

The flesh and bones reference in Ezekiel is a parable about people who are spiritually dead/ignorant, of God's words. The illustration shows, that, once Ezekiel taught those bones, they started to get some life in them, and eventually started to live. The meaning is, unless Israel started wising up and listen to God, they would remain in the state they are in, spiritually dead... It is a simple analogy .A Figure of speech .

The donkey. was a special thing performed by God. to get this dudes attention there in that book where it is mentioned. God can do what He wills :)

Others spoke from hell. They asked are you as weak as we are?

That is the result of a natural mind trying to grasp something supernatural.
Maybe I am wrong, but perhaps you are not correct, too; I wish I could say for certain, but I do not intend on finding out, either.;)

I didn't ask if hell was real or not, but I did ask if it is a physical or spiritual place; I do not deny for one moment that hell exists.

The soul is immortal. There are many things not explicitly stated in Scripture, but we infer a great deal from what Scripture does say. Do you remember the story of Lazarus' brother? How is it that his soul lived on, even in hell? Hell is eternal separation from God, but God does not teach annihilationism.

Grace and Peace!
Not after the cross, yet before he taught how we were already annihilated. Matthew 19 the rich man and Christ, and after that rich man walked away sad, the disciples asked, how can anyone make it to heaven? They were annihilated, condemned saw no way od any self-effort to go to heaven unless of coarse if they had gouged out their eyes, to never again lust, or cut off their hands, to never again steal, or their tongue to never again talk bad out of one side of their mouth, and then bless out of the other side.
And Christ replied with: With man it is impossible, and you all, that is still true to this very day, and yet man is just a running around working hard as can be, to get others and God to be pleased by what they are doing or not doing, what a deception from the flesh life of look at me.
Jesus then said but with God all things are possible. So under the Law as was then as Christ had not yet gone to the cross, he was fulfilling the Law and Prophets and showing us that none of us can, by expounding on the law that if I just look at a woman with lust in my eye, I have already committed the act in from God's point of view, I need this God that Jesus talked of that said with God all things are possible. Now this part of the truth that was not yet revealed was and is revealed after the cross
If one wants new life here and now, today. Then just maybe instead of trying to be imitators of Christ, just maybe be participators. Starting at the death of Christ go and die with Christ to self, one self, and soak on this as Paul did, he considered himself dead to himself with Christ, the further identification of this self death with Christ, the more the reality of the resurrected Christ came to life in Paul, and giving no credit to himself, all credit to God through the resurrection of Christ where life is found, but not unless one dies to themselves with Christ.
Therefore Paul was able to say
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
And this is not just for Paul, it is for all of us that are willing to die to themselves, deeper and deeper, thus experienced the new life deeper and deeper. God has offered as a free gift the escape from hell, by either you believe God or you don't
All in love to you all

Hell is real and I doubt that our finite minds can comprehend it, when bottom line is either one believes God, in what God did for us all at the cross or we do not and go about trying to be good enough, focused on behavior, that only besets us, for as a man thinks so is he
So if I try to stop sin, thinking about sin issues alone trap me in and keep me in hell, trying so hard to get out by what I am doing, instead of getting out by what Christ has already done, and thus thanking God, praising God, being so overjoyed, there is no more sowing of the flesh, that is always hanging around trying to get back in, and all it needs is for one to think fleshly thoughts long enough and walah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! trapped again
[h=3]Galatians 6:8[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)

[SUP]8 [/SUP]For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

It matters not whether I do not want to do what I am thinking about I do not want to do, that is what I do, this is the trickery of the flesh, Romans 7, talks about if you are dead to flesh as in you believing so, as in dying with Christ at the cross, the deeper one dies to flesh with Christ the more realization of the new life here and now with Christ takes hold, following the hidden man of our hearts, the Holy Ghost. The escape from hell is God and belief in God. please see the finished work, and die to self deeper and deeper to experience the new life deeper and deeper, Hell is real and escaped through Christ.

There was a person that died and was sent to hell. Upon realizing he was in Hell, He rejected this as to be so! He said he was not to be there in Hell. He did not belong. So he sought out the Devil inquiring why he was in Hell, and stating he did not belong. He asked Why am I here? I am sure I do not belong here.
The devil replies after looking over his list of names that are to be there, and replies, you are right, you are not to be here. You see that door over there, all you got to do is go through that door and you will be in heaven. But before you get to go through it, You need to accomplish a list of tasks first.
So the man sets out to accomplish these tasks given and completes them. He then goes back to the devil and says he has completed the given tasks, and is ready to now go through the door.
The Devil interupts and convinces the man he needs to accopmplish another list, then another one. and on and on. Finally after the man keeps coming back, to go through the door. He now finds new lists taped onto the door for him to do, then he could pass through.
Well this goes on for years and finally the man gives up trying so hard to go through the door and into heaven. Feeling it is useless he takes the latest note on the door and rips it up, then leans against the door in exhaustion, he has had it he is done.
To his amazament the door opens and never was locked, and finds himself in Heaven, realizing he could have just gone through the door the first day. The door was never locked, only his belief kept him from entering into. ( deceived into working for salvation)
I find this so common with man and his feeling of worth. We are loved and all anyone needs to do is just go through the door.

Hell is real.
It lasts for eternity because the grace you refused lasts for eternity.

It should be taken into consideration that we all will depart this reality for another reality. We deem this time as real and the time to come as spiritual. When we become spiritual does that not then become our reality? We can only glimpse at what we will experience when this vale of flesh goes into the grave. Death is only a doorway into eternity.

Consider this that the fire described in the lake of fire and in hell is the wrath of God. It is not fire in the sense of the chemical reaction we see in this world. We see the glory of God in the fire of His presence. Moses could not approach because of the glory of God. The temple was filled with the glory of God. The bush burned and was not consumed by the glory of God. The fire in hell is the wrath of God. Full and without measure upon sin. Romans 1:18 It will burn forever and without mercy. The severity of God's wrath defines the depth of His mercy toward them who repent and seek forgiveness. Today is the day of salvation. Seek ye the Lord while He may be found.

For the cause of Christ

I don't deny that it exists either, or that the devil, his angels, and those not written in the lambs book of life will be thrown in there after the judgement is exacted. I also don't deny that that will be the great and terrible day of the Lord, because those that are thrown in that fire will see Him in all His glory and know what they've done, and know what they have lost, and oh yes, I'm sure the terrible weeping and gnashing of teeth will resound well before the wicked will be thrown into the fire which will consume everything. It makes me shudder to even think about it. The only difference between your and my believe, is that I believe they will be entirely destroyed. To know what you've done, and especially HIM that you've lost, not to mention all of eternity with Him would be terrible beyond imagining.
